Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 308: I Refuse Your Offer, Mr. Fu (1)
Adrienne had just alighted from the elevator with Myrtle and Irina when she spotted her father talking to an unfamiliar man in the hallway. Her father looked amicable and engaged in the conversation, gesturing with his hands as he spoke.
Adrienne’s curiosity was piqued; she knew who this man could be and what they discussed. Either he was the new CEO of the Jiang Corporation, Kristoff Fu, or this man was part of his team.
The man smiled without saying a word to Lewis. He then turned his attention to Adrienne’s. A flicker of amusement appeared in his eyes when he saw her. He politely excused himself from Lewis and sauntered towards Adrienne. Only then did Lewis notice his daughter’s arrival; his face darkened with annoyance.
"Are you Miss Adrienne Jiang?" The man asked.
"Yes, and you are?" Adrienne asked in return. She gave him a good look.
He was tall, with dark hair and a chiseled jawline. His suit fit him perfectly, and the way he carried himself showed confidence and power. His eyes were a deep, mysterious shade of blue. Adrienne couldn’t help but feel drawn to him. Lennox never mentioned Kristoff having foreign blood.
"I’m Kristoff Fu, the new CEO," he said, extending his hand for her to shake.
Adrienne took his hand and gave him a handshake.
"It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Fu," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"The pleasure is all mine, Miss Jiang," Kristoff said, still holding onto her hand. "I’ve heard so much about you."
Adrienne raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? What have you heard?"
There were a lot of rumors circulating around her because of Camilla. Adrienne wouldn’t be surprised if Kristoff had reservations about helping her despite being Lennox’s wife. She wasn’t sure how close her husband was to Kristoff or what kind of relationship the two had because Lennox only claimed Kristoff as a valuable acquaintance. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Kristoff stepped closer to her, his lips curling into a smile.
"That you are a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it."
Adrienne chuckled, but her eyes remained cold. "Is that so?"
"Gavin told me things when Lennox refused to say details about his new wife. I would have never thought he would be the one who would settle down first among us, considering I rarely see him talk to a woman before, but I understand why he chose you.
Myrtle frowned while Irina gave Kristoff a warning look when they heard him. However, Adrienne didn’t seem offended by his words. She was already used to receiving such reactions from men and didn’t take their words seriously.
"Is there something Mr. Fu wants from me?" Adrienne asked before glancing at her father, who awaited Kristoff’s return.
"I just want to have a word with you. I also want to discuss something, but it can wait. Your father is waiting for me, isn’t he?" Kristoff asked, not bothering to turn around to look at Lewis and Cayden, who had just arrived.
Adrienne nodded and didn’t say a word. Unlike her husband and Gavin, Kristoff Fu seemed to have a playful and more laid-back personality. However, Adrienne didn’t dare to underestimate him, knowing of his achievements. She could trust Gavin, but not Kristoff. This man hadn’t warranted any reason to believe him.
"I’ll speak to you later, then." Kristoff turned and walked away, disappearing with Lewis and Cayden around the corner.
He was tall, with dark hair and a chiseled jawline. His suit fit him perfectly, and the way he carried himself showed confidence and power. His eyes were a deep, mysterious shade of blue. Adrienne couldn’t help but look at him.
Lennox believed that Kristoff could help her finish the Jiang Corporation, but Adrienne wouldn’t blindly trust a stranger. She would destroy the company on her own given time and way.
Adrienne joined the other shareholders and officially welcomed Kristoff to the company. She remained silent beside Chairman Qu, smiling broadly as he clapped with the other shareholders.
Once the meeting was over, Adrienne didn’t intend to stay longer and moved to leave, but Kristoff rushed to see her.
"Miss Jiang." He paused momentarily, asking, "Or should I call you Mrs. Qin now?"
Adrienne turned to face him, her expression impassive. "I prefer Miss Jiang."
Kristoff gave her a small smile. "Very well then, Miss Jiang. I was hoping we could have that talk we discussed earlier. Perhaps over dinner?"
Adrienne considered his offer. She had no reason to trust Kristoff, but she was curious about what he was up to.
"You can invite Lennox to join us too if you feel uncomfortable. I have yet to see him since I returned." Kristoff added.
"Very well," she finally relented, "Lennox and I will meet you for dinner tonight."
"Excellent," Kristoff said, his smile widening. "I’ll make the reservations at the best restaurant in the city. I’ve been away too long; I wondered how much has changed in Chiangshi."
Adrienne didn’t bother to respond. Instead, she turned and walked away, leaving Kristoff behind.
Kristoff watched her leave with a broad smile on his face.
Meanwhile, Lewis and Cayden saw the interaction between the two. Cayden scowled as he noticed that Adrienne hadn’t said anything or moved during their meeting. He wondered if she was upset that the new CEO had taken their side and wasn’t willing to cooperate with her.
"Dad. Why’s Mr. Fu talking to Addie? What if she seduced him, too?" Cayden asked his father.
Not only did Adrienne manage to seduce Alistair, but she also managed to trap Lennox Qin into marriage by using her appearance. Cayden didn’t want their plans to go down the hill by having Kristoff fall into a beauty trap. Adrienne might be his sister, but she was the black sheep of their Jiang family.
"Don’t worry about it," Lewis answered, "I asked Mr. Fu to seek Addie and befriend her. Once he managed to win her trust, it would be easy for us to know her next moves and how to counter them."
