Chapter 307: Anything to Protect Her (2)

Lennox knew Alistair’s intention and had been busy ensuring Huayi was safe from Alistair’s underhanded attacks. However, he was more worried that Alistair would turn his attention to Adrienne and go after her instead.

When Adrienne confessed that she remembered her past life and how she lived miserably because of the Jiang family and Alistair, Lennox didn’t doubt her claims. Instead, he felt her confession shed light and cleared out some of the mysteries surrounding her.

He also had to admit that her knowledge about the future had given him and Huayi a great advantage and that they had earned a lot of money. Lennox owed Adrienne a lot and wanted to show his support in any way possible. She also helped him and Gavin avoid mistakes when investing in risky ventures, ultimately saving them from the financial ruin of Huayi.

However, what bothered him the most was the suffering Adrienne experienced at Alistair’s hands. Lennox wasn’t offended or upset upon hearing that she was Alistair’s wife in her past life. For him, it was a possibility that would never happen in this lifetime, as he was in Adrienne’s life.

He knew Adrienne omitted some details of her experience at Alistair’s hands, but he could see the effect Alistair left on her.

A knock on his office door took Lennox out of his thoughts. He glanced at the doorway and saw his best friend striding towards him with a concerned expression.

Lennox motioned for him to come in and asked, "What’s wrong?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

His best friend hesitated momentarily before saying, "I just heard some rumors about Alistair. It seems like he’s been causing trouble again. He contacted a few people to spy on Huayi to gather information that could be used against us."

Lennox then scoffed. "He’s foolish if he thought he could hurt us by going after Huayi. Unlike him, we don’t deal with illegal activities."

Alistair had been eyeing destroying Huayi for a long time but couldn’t. The man had no idea that Adrienne worked as a consultant at Huayi and her brainchild was the most prominent project that became a cash cow for the company. Lennox knew that Adrienne was always one step ahead of Alistair, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that his rival’s plans would ultimately fail.

Lennox glanced at the screen of his phone lying on his table. It was a picture of him and Adrienne during their wedding. Myrtle took a quick snap of them and sent them to him to share. He loved the way Adrienne smiled at the photo.

Lennox couldn’t help but be grateful for Adrienne’s presence. She had saved him from a dark place within himself, and he knew he would do anything to protect her. With the news of Alistair’s intentions, Lennox knew he had to act.

He stood from his desk and walked towards the window, staring at the city skyline. He needed to devise a plan to ensure the safety of Huayi and Adrienne.

His best friend approached him and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We’ll figure this out. We won’t let Alistair win. Let’s proceed with the next plan and cripple the Han Corporation’s machineries."

Lennox nodded. "Thanks, Gav. I appreciate your help."

His best friend squeezed his shoulder before leaving the room, leaving Lennox alone with his thoughts.

As he stared out the window, an idea began to form in his mind. It was risky, but he knew it was the only way to ensure Alistair couldn’t harm Adrienne or Huayi. Kristoff was his acquaintance at the university where he studied overseas. Lennox was confident Kristoff could aid his wife in dealing with the Jiang family.

However, Alistair was a more serious problem for him and Adrienne. Adrienne had told him some confidential details they could use against Alistair. Lennox couldn’t believe how deep Alistair’s involvement was in human trafficking and smuggling. He and Gavin sent Gabriel to investigate Alistair’s illegal activities, only to receive an alarming report confirming their worst fears.

Gabriel had discovered concrete evidence linking Alistair to a vast network of criminal organizations operating across multiple countries. The extent of Alistair’s reach and the danger it posed to Lennox and Adrienne became even more apparent, leaving them with no choice but to devise a meticulous plan to bring him down at all costs.

They also discovered that Alistair and Prosecutor Ji were involved with the owner of ’Elysian’ and were gaining a profit share from the gentleman’s club. Lennox had been in that place before but never returned after witnessing what transpired within the club.

So many women were being taken advantage of in that place. Adrienne had almost been harmed in that place, and Lennox had yet to forget the fear that flashed in her eyes when she recounted her experience in Elysian.

Lennox momentarily picked up his phone and stared at his wife’s face before making a phone call.

"Hey, Len," Adrienne answered.

"Hey, I just wanted to check in on you and make sure you’re okay," Lennox said, a hint of worry in his voice. He glanced at the clock on the monitor of his computer and saw that he needed another three hours before he could see his wife. They were scheduled to return to Chiangshi later, and he couldn’t wait to be home soon.

"I’m fine, Lennox. You don’t have to worry about me," Adrienne replied, her voice soft and reassuring.

"I know, but I can’t help it. I just want to make sure you’re safe," Lennox said, his voice gentle.

Adrienne chuckled softly. "I’m a grown woman, Lennox. I can take care of myself. Myrtle and Irina are with me anyway."

"I know you can, but I still worry. I’m your husband, after all. It’s normal for me to feel concerned about your safety," Lennox replied, his tone filled with love and protectiveness.

His words touched Adrienne, who grinned in the other line. "I appreciate your concern, Lennox. But trust me, I’m in good hands here. We’ll be together soon."

Lennox sighed, reluctantly accepting her reassurance. "Alright, just promise me you’ll be careful and call me if anything feels off."

"I promise," Adrienne said.
