Chapter 279: Hold My Hand While I Save Myself (1)

Adrienne’s mood improved as soon as she arrived home. She found Liam, Vaughn, and Noah in the living room, playing a game with consoles on their hands. It seemed to her that they were playing a race game, and Liam was on the lead.

"Liam, why don’t you give Noah some handicap?" Vaughn laughed at their older brother. Liam was usually competitive and loved to win, so it was no surprise that he was dominating the game against his younger brothers.

Noah had a serious expression on his face. The grip he had on his console tightened as his frown deepened. Adrienne smiled as she noticed Noah resembled her husband more whenever he did this.

"Vaugh, we shouldn’t pamper Noah too much; else he might get used to it and not try his best in the future," Liam replied with a smirk. The boys continued their game, each determined to come out on top.

Adrienne took a seat and watched them silently, while Myrtle stepped out for a moment to make phone calls and arrange Adrienne’s schedule for the entire week. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

When the screen flashed Liam’s name as the winner, Noah groaned and lowered his console.

"No fair. Why are we playing the difficult level this early?" He mumbled.

"Wasn’t it you who said the easy level was a waste of time?" Liam said in defense. "Anyway, you are doing well; it’s just that you are too impatient and want to win immediately. " He added.

"Liam is right, Noah. You can’t rush everything. You have to be patient, especially if you know it will take some time." Adrienne agreed with her brother-in-law.

Noah’s eyes lit up, and he joined Adrienne on the couch. He hadn’t noticed that Adrienne had arrived because he was engrossed in their game earlier. He was really glad that Adrienne lived with them now and that he could call her his sister.

"Addie, do you know how to play this game?" He asked.

Adrienne shook her head in response. "This is the first time I’ve seen this game. I suppose Noah can teach me some other time."

Noah beamed her a smile and nodded. Since the school year had yet to start, he wanted to spend more time with Adrienne.

Adrienne gave him an approving smile and patted his back.

"Are your sisters already home?" She asked. She couldn’t see the girls anywhere and wondered what they were doing at this time.

Adrienne promised to treat the two girls to shopping, and she felt it would be a good time to go out to get her mind out of her troubles.

Just as Noah was about to answer, Adrienne heard Samantha and Scarlett arriving together. They came from the kitchen with aprons on top of their clothes. They were arguing about the spiciness of the dish they were making earlier. However, their conversation came to a stop when they noticed Adrienne’s presence.

"Are you busy today? I was thinking of going out with you guys if you are up to it." Adrienne asked the two young women.

Scarlett immediately nodded, while Samantha patted the floor on her apron and checked whether her clothes were dirty. She didn’t want to make Adrienne wait for too long in case she needed a change.

Noah tugged Adrienne’s sleeve gently. "Addie, can I come with you?"

He begged with hopeful eyes. He didn’t want to be left alone here with his older brothers while Adrienne was out with his sisters. Noah thought it was unfair that Adrienne was spending more time with them lately.

"Sure." Adrienne answered, before turning to Liam and Vaugh, "What about the two of you?"

"I’ll pass, Sis," Vaughn waved a hand. "I want to take a nap, but could you bring me some sweets?"

"I’ll stay at home too." Liam answered, "I want to catch some sleep."

"Wait, Addie. Give me a second! I need to change!" Scarlett gasped, noticing the stain of soy sauce on her skirt. She hurriedly ran up the stairs, leaving her siblings behind.

"I’ll change as well," Samantha said, following her younger sister’s lead.

Adrienne chuckled at the girls’ antics and turned to Noah. "Shall we wait for them in the living room?"

Noah nodded, and they moved to the couch. Adrienne took the remote from the coffee table and switched on the TV. She flipped through the channels, searching for something interesting to watch. Noah leaned against her side, enjoying the warmth of her presence.

After a few minutes, Samantha and Scarlett came down the stairs, dressed in fresh clothes. Adrienne stood up to greet them, and they headed out of the house together.

The sun was shining brightly, and the weather was perfect for a day out. Adrienne led the way to the nearby mall, where they spent the next few hours shopping. As they walked through the mall, Noah’s hand was firmly clasped in hers. Scarlett was excited to show Adrienne the latest fashion trends, while Samantha preferred to browse through the books at the bookstore.

Noah trailed behind them, carrying the shopping bags. He was happy to be with them, even though his sisters often left him out of their activities. He picked up a few comics and coloring books before going to Adrienne, who was already holding a few books.

"Are you going to read all of that?" He asked.

Adrienne smiled but shook her head. "No, this is for Lennox. He told me he hasn’t read them."

Noah nodded understandingly, knowing how much Lennox loved reading.

"Brother Nox used to have trouble sleeping when we were living overseas. He spent most nights reading a book for an hour or two after your call."

Adrienne arched her brow. This was the first time she’d heard of it. "Is that so?"

Noah nodded. "He must be missing you so much that he couldn’t barely get some sleep."

Adrienne smiled at the thought of Lennox staying up so late just to read one of the books she gave him. She couldn’t wait for him to read these new books and see if they could help him sleep better.
