Chapter 280: Hold My Hand While I Save Myself (2)

As they continued to walk through the mall, Noah suddenly stopped in front of a store. Adrienne looked up to see what had caught his attention and found him staring at the display window of a toy store.

"Do you want to go in?" She asked him.

Noah’s eyes widened, and he nodded his head eagerly. "Can we, Addie? Please!" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Do you mind?" Adrienne asked Samantha and Scarlett.

"We’ll stay here and wait for you." Samantha said, while Scarlett nodded.

Adrienne couldn’t resist Noah’s pleading eyes, so she led him inside the store. She left Kalista with his sisters to accompany them, while Irina stayed with her and Noah. As they walked down the aisles, Noah’s excitement grew with each passing toy.

After a while, Noah picked out a remote-controlled car and a few action figures. Adrienne paid for the toys, and they left the store. As they walked out of the mall, Noah clutched his new toys tightly, a big grin on his face.

"Thanks, Addie. You’re the best!" He said, looking up at her with gratitude in his eyes.

Adrienne ruffled his hair affectionately. "No problem. I’m glad you had fun."

They drove back home when the sun was about to set. Adrienne made sure to buy the sweets Vaugh mentioned earlier. When they arrived, Adrienne saw her husband already at home, reading a book in the living room. Lennox spent most of his free time reading when he was home, and it became a usual sight for Adrienne since they got married.

Lennox brought down the book he was reading and smiled when he saw Adrienne. His siblings greeted him and hurriedly went up to their rooms. They knew when their older brother wanted to be left alone with Adrienne with just a glance from him.

"Have you had a good time with them?" Lennox asked. "I would love to join you, but Gavin and I were in a meeting."

Adrienne passed the sweets to the housekeeper and told her that it was Vaughn and to make sure to have them served after dinner.

"Yes, we had a great time. We went shopping at the mall, and we even went to a toy store. Noah picked out some action figures and a remote-controlled car," Adrienne said, smiling at the memory.

Lennox chuckled. "I bet he was thrilled. He always ask me to buy him a new one whenever I’m in a business trip"

"He was. He thanked me a lot for taking him out."

Lennox’s eyes softened as he looked at Adrienne. "Thank you for taking care of my siblings. You always go above and beyond for them."

Adrienne shook her head. "It’s no trouble. I love spending time with them."

Lennox stood up and walked over to her, taking her hand in his. "I love you, Addie."

Adrienne smiled and leaned in to kiss him. She didn’t know she’d been stressing the entire day like this.

As they pulled away, Lennox’s eyes flickered at the books in her hand. "What did you get?"

Adrienne handed him the books, and Lennox’s eyes widened in surprise. "You shouldn’t have bothered, Addie. I could have asked Jet to order it for me."

He only mentioned it the other night in passing and didn’t expect Adrienne would remember it.

Adrienne chuckled softly. "I know, but I wanted to surprise you. Plus, I enjoy browsing through bookstores."

Lennox grinned. "Thank you, Addie. It means a lot to me."

Adrienne smiled. "Noah told me you used to have trouble sleeping, so I thought they might help."

Lennox’s expression turned soft. "Thank you, Addie. You always know just what I need."

They spent the rest of the evening curled up on the couch, reading their favorite books together. It didn’t take long before Lennox’s siblings joined them once they deemed it safe to accompany the couple.

The sound of Vaughn and Scarlett’s laughter echoed throughout the house as they played a board game, and Samantha sat quietly in her seat, scrolling on her phone.

Their dinner was a quiet affair, with everyone enjoying the delicious meal that the housekeeper had prepared. Adrienne kept the conversation light, asking everyone about their day and sharing stories about her own. Lennox watched her with admiration, marveling at how effortlessly she could bring joy to his siblings.

After dinner, they all retired to their rooms, and Lennox and Adrienne were left alone once again.

Lennox turned to Adrienne with a serious expression on his face. Adrienne acting distant was something he dreaded to experience again.

"Addie, is everything okay?" he asked.

Adrienne sighed, knowing it was time to talk about what had happened at the shareholders’ meeting.

"Everything went according to plan, but I’m sure my father wouldn’t give up the company easily."

Lennox’s expression turned thoughtful. "I see. What are you planning to do?"

"Wait and see what he’ll do after." Adrienne leaned against him and shut her eyes. "It will be a long day tomorrow."

"Don’t stress yourself too much, Addie. If you need help, I can arrange things for you."

Adrienne cracked her eyes and shook her head. Lennox’s help would surely make it easier for her to destroy the Jiang family, but she didn’t think she would get satisfaction from it. She wanted to see them suffer on their own, without any outside interference.

Plus, she knew that relying too much on Lennox’s help would only complicate their relationship further. So, she decided to handle it all herself, no matter how hard it may be.

"Len, I trust you, but you have to let me do this on my own. I don’t want you to save me, but you can hold my hand while I save myself. That’s more than enough for me."

She appreciated his support and affection, but Adrienne wasn’t ready yet to share everything with him, especially her secrets.

Lennox nodded, but he swore, once Adrienne had gotten her revenge, he would destroy any chances of the Jiang family interfering with their lives again. He would make sure they paid for the pain they had caused Adrienne, and he would do whatever it took to protect her from any future harm.
