Chapter 267: Ayla’s Scheme (1)

"So you two had already gotten married." Hunter looked at his sister and new brother-in-law. They were in the study with their Uncle Reese, intending to discuss their next plans for the family.

Since he just reunited with their mother, Rosemary wasn’t willing to leave his side. It wasn’t until Adrienne convinced their mother to retire for the night that Rosemary conceded and returned to her quarters.

Adrienne nodded in response, while Lennox broke into a wide smile. The newlywed couple looked content and happy with their marriage life, and Hunter noticed how his sister seemed to glow with joy. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness for Adrienne, knowing she had found someone who truly made her happy.

"We couldn’t wait to get married," Adrienne admitted, "but Lennox and I plan to hold a small ceremony for family and friends."

"I see." Hunter nodded in agreement. "If you need help preparing, you can ask Grandma and Mom. I’m sure they would gladly assist you however they can."

"Would you be staying here for vacation or must you prepare to return to service soon?" Adrienne asked her brother. Her plans would start falling into place, but she wanted to ensure Hunter’s schedule aligned with theirs.

Hunter met her gaze. He understood what his sister was trying to imply. With the preparations finally done, it was time for them to set their plans in motion. Adrienne had already started her quest for revenge long ago, and nothing could stop her from destroying the Jiang family anymore.

"I’ll be here for the next three months. I filed for leave and was granted it by my superiors." He answered his sister. Hunter wanted to see how this revenge would end. The Jiang family had no idea what was coming to them.

"You aren’t the only one who just returned, brother. Elise Jiang has just returned. Her engagement with Prosecutor Ji’s son would be announced soon, as well as my engagement with Alistair Han." Adrienne informed him.

Hunter frowned. He’d been informed of his sister’s recent visit to the patriarch of the Jiang family, and it seemed they weren’t willing to accept his refusal of her marriage arrangement with Alistair Han.

"They are courting death!" He exclaimed, his voice filled with frustration and concern. "The Jiang family and Alistair are playing a dangerous game by forcing these engagements upon you. They have no idea what they’re getting themselves into."

"It’s fine, brother. In the end, Alistair won’t be able to marry me, as Ayla has already made a move as we speak. She won’t be able to resist him for long," she replied, her tone filled with determination. "We just need to wait and trust that everything will work out in our favor."

Hunter was taken aback. "Ayla Jiang? What’s with her?"

Adrienne chuckled, and the moonlight glistened in her eyes. "Ayla Jiang is known for her charm and beauty. She has a way of capturing the attention of any man she desires. If she has set her sights on Alistair, it won’t be long before he falls under her spell. She would surely do her best to stop my engagement with Alistair Han.

Reese scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest as he sat on the armchair behind his desk. He knew women like Ayla Jiang could be manipulative and cunning, but she had no idea what kind of man she’d been dealing with.

"Then let her have the misfortune of being Alistair Han’s wife. Since she would bring it to herself, she better not blame Addie for any of the consequences that come with it," Reese commented. The entire Jiang family was filled with wicked people, harboring ill thoughts towards his sister and his niece.

"But how would she be able to seduce Alistair Han? He’s the kind of man who won’t easily fall under the spell of a manipulative woman," Hunter questioned, his curiosity piqued. She knew Alistair Han to be a shrewd and discerning person, not easily swayed by deceptive tactics.

However, Adrienne smirked knowingly and replied, "Oh, my dear brother, when it comes to matters of the heart, even the most guarded souls can be vulnerable." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I arranged for someone to lend a hand to Ayla discreetly," Lennox interjected while Adrienne smiled at him proudly. "Alistair won’t be able to resist her tonight and will have her innocence. It would be hard for him to force Adrienne to marry later when he had already gotten involved with her cousin. Ayla Jiang won’t allow it to happen, and Alistair would blame her for his failure."

Hunter looked at his brother-in-law and his sister. Lennox and Adrienne seemed to be in sync and understand each other better than anyone else. They were also quite ruthless against their enemies, sparing them no chance to retaliate or seek revenge. Hunter admired their unwavering determination and loyalty to each other. He knew that with Lennox and Adrienne by his side, they would be formidable against anyone who dared to cross their path.

"Don’t let Mom get involved with this, Addie. She already suffered enough." He told his sister.

Adrienne nodded. She understood their mother’s resolve to become a better mother to her and Hunter, but she also knew well that their mother wasn’t the type of person who would allow devious means to achieve her goals. Adrienne also wanted their mother to stay out of their situation, knowing it was for the best.

"Of course, Hunter. We won’t involve Mom in this. We’ll handle it ourselves," Adrienne assured her brother. She knew how much their mother had suffered in the past and didn’t want to burden her with their revenge plan.

"Good. I trust you both to make the right decisions," Hunter said, a hint of pride in his voice. He had always known his sister to be resilient and decisive. Seeing her now, with Lennox by her side, made him feel at ease. He knew she was in good hands.

The room fell silent as they all contemplated their next steps. They knew they had a long journey ahead but were determined to see it through.

Suddenly, Reese stood up from his chair, his expression serious. "Listen, the Jiang family won’t be sitting idle for long. They’ll strike back, and they’ll do it hard. You need to be prepared for anything that comes your way," he warned them.

Adrienne and Lennox nodded in agreement. They knew their plan wouldn’t go unnoticed and were prepared for retaliation. It wouldn’t take long before Alistair realized they were involved in Ayla’s scheme.

"Don’t worry, Uncle Reese. We have everything under control," Adrienne assured him. She won’t let her enemies escape her revenge.

Reese looked at his niece, his eyes filled with concern. He knew her path was dangerous, but he also knew she was doing it for the right reasons. He just hoped she wouldn’t lose herself in the process.

"Alright then. Just be careful," Reese said as he walked toward the door. "I’ll be waiting for your call if you need any help or support," he added, giving Adrienne a reassuring smile. Reese stepped out of the room with a final nod, leaving Adrienne with her brother and husband.
