Chapter 243: This Is Lennox, My Husband (1)

The rumors about Adrienne and Lennox continued, and Valerie started worrying. She questioned Myrtle about any news from Adrienne but couldn’t get any decent answers. She tried to ask Myrtle for answers, but even she was mum about Adrienne’s affairs.

Valerie visited Adrienne at the Zhao estate to get the answers she wanted. However, she was informed that Adrienne had already moved houses, leaving her astonished. Adrienne had never mentioned, not even to Myrtle, that she had already moved. She gave Adrienne a frantic call, worried that the Jiang family had managed to bully her friend again.

"Addie, what’s going on? Where are you? Where did you move to?"

Adrienne was in the middle of unpacking boxes when she received Valerie’s call. She sighed, realizing she had forgotten to inform Valerie about her recent move. Lennox, who had just brought her the additional boxes containing her belongings from the Zhao estate, interrupted her as she was about to explain.

"Addie, where should I put this? I never knew you owed so many books. My back is killing me."

Adrienne frowned and lowered her phone, momentarily forgetting Valerie’s questions. "What do you think you’re doing? Bring down that box and leave the rest to others!"

She scolded her husband, worried that his constant lifting of heavy things could hurt his back even more. She knew he was trying to help, but she didn’t want him to strain himself further. Lennox had just recovered, and she didn’t want to see him in pain again—the memory of him being in pain while she could not do anything made her feel distraught.

"Calm down, sweetheart. It’s not that heavy, which could cause me harm. Plus, I’ve been doing this work for years without issues. I can even lift Noah at ease now." She was reassured by her husband, who tried to ease her worries.

Despite his reassurance, she couldn’t shake off the fear that something might go wrong and he would end up injured again. She decided to compromise and suggested finding someone else to help with the heavy lifting, just to be on the safe side.

On the other line, Valerie let out a gasp. She clearly heard the voice of a man talking with Adrienne. Did her friend already move in with her mysterious lover?

"Addie? Who are you with? Don’t think you can avoid me for too long, Addie. I haven’t seen you for over a month now."

When Adrienne didn’t answer, she continued, "Where are you? I’ll come and see you. You aren’t with Alistair Han, are you? Did he take you away after seeing you with Lennox Qin? If those two were pestering you, you could have asked your Uncle Reese or Kat for help. They will help you deal with them."

Adrienne didn’t know what to do. She rubbed her temple and sighed. She glanced over at her husband as she covered the mouthpiece on her phone. She wanted to invite Valerie over to explain things to her friend, but she also knew hearing her husband’s opinion was important.

"Len, what should I do? I think Val wants to meet you. Should I let her come here and introduce you?" She asked Lennox for his opinion. Valerie had already been disappointed that Adrienne’s secret lover hadn’t shown up to stake his claim on her, especially now that Alistair wanted to pursue her.

"Do you trust her?" Lennox asked in response. He had heard things about Valerie from his wife and Myrtle but hadn’t met her yet.

According to Myrtle, Valerie Xia was a passionate woman who would stand up for what she believed was right. She was also loyal and overprotective regarding her friends, so Lennox didn’t mind getting acquainted with her.

Adrienne paused momentarily, considering her husband’s question, before answering with a resounding yes. She knew it was the right time to inform Valerie of her relationship with Lennox because she feared her friend might misunderstand things further.

"Then invite her over. I would love to meet her and form my own opinion," Lennox suggested, intrigued by the description of Valerie. He trusted Adrienne’s judgment but wanted to see if Valerie lived up to her reputation.

Adrienne answered her phone and told Valerie that she would ask Myrtle to bring her over. Valerie sighed as she felt ignored and forgotten by Adrienne. She wondered if her friendship with Adrienne was as important to her as it was to her.

Once Adrienne hung up the phone, Lennox moved and trapped her against the dresser behind her, his eyes glinting mischievously.

Adrienne held her breath as Lennox’s playful gaze met hers. She couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh, knowing what her husband was up to. It had been a month since she married this man, but Lennox had yet to lose his sense of adventure and surprise her with his antics. She loved how he always found ways to keep their relationship exciting and unpredictable.

"We have a very important guest today. I should give you a good bath. You are full of dust, dear." He teased, trailing a finger down her neck. Adrienne felt a shiver run down her spine as she looked at him with exasperation and desire.

"Lennox, not now," she whispered, even though a part of her wanted to give in to his advances.

He chuckled and leaned in closer, his breath hot against her ear. "It won’t take long, my sweet Addie. Let me take care of you."

Adrienne closed her eyes as Lennox kissed her neck, her resolve weakening with every passing second. She knew she shouldn’t be distracted by her husband’s advances, not when Valerie was coming over, but it was hard to resist him.

"Fine, but make it quick," she relented, her hands reaching up to tangle in his hair.

Lennox grinned and lifted her off her feet, carrying her to their bathroom. Adrienne let out a giggle as he kicked the door shut behind them, knowing that they were going to be late for Valerie’s visit. But for now, she was content to let her worries fade away, lost in the heated passion of her husband’s touch.
