Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 240: No One Can Take You Away From Me (3)
Just as Adrienne expected, the news about her and Lennox Qin reached him despite his busy schedule. Naturally, he felt upset seeing the pictures of the two together, sporting a wide smile next to each other.
Alistair felt his heart sink as he looked at Adrienne’s smiling face. When they were younger, this young woman used to admire him from afar but never made her feelings known to him. However, when he met her again during her Grandfather Jiang’s birthday banquet, it was Alistair’s turn to be bewitched by her.
At that time, he thought she was one of the guests of the Jiang family. The young woman seated in Rosemary Zhao’s garden looked cold and forlorn but was extremely beautiful under the moonlight.
Adrienne looked as if she were made of ice itself. Her complexion was a perfect porcelain doll. Her face was cold and aloof, not swayed by anything that happened to her. Her eyes were as dark as the night sky, like a frozen lake on a snowy day. Her black hair cascaded down her back in a smooth, wavy wave, like a pot of ink frozen in ice.
Alistair had never thought that his half-sister’s best friend would turn out to be such a stunning beauty. Adrienne was so beautiful he decided right then and there that she would be his body and soul. Her ethereal presence, as if she belonged in a completely different world, couldn’t help but enthrall him. Alistair was drawn to her mysterious aura, eager to unravel the depths of her enigmatic personality.
He made himself known, and he thought that being left alone with him would evoke some feelings from Adrienne, but instead, Alistair received a cold shoulder in the end when she treated him like a stranger.
Confused and frustrated, Alistair couldn’t understand why Adrienne’s reaction was so distant and detached. He wondered if there was something he had done to inadvertently push her away or if there was a hidden reason behind her aloofness.
The young woman before him surely wasn’t the same girl who used to be infatuated with him. It seemed to Alistair that the Adrienne Jiang before him was completely a different person. Since then, she has piqued his interest and been constantly on his mind.
However, Alistair didn’t get a chance to meet her again after that until Marion Gu’s age of ceremony. At that time, he knew that the Jiang family had tried to sell her out to the Gu family as Ares Gu’s wife.
Alistair had never been enraged until that moment. The mere thought of someone else possessing her and her being bound to another man ignited a fiery rage within him. However, Adrienne managed to avoid the calamity in her own way, making her stepsister, Elise Jiang, suffer in the process.
Alistair then saw her in another light after witnessing the fiasco at the Gu mansion. Adrienne Jiang didn’t just have a beautiful face but also a cunning mind and fierce determination. Her ability to outmaneuver her step-sister showed Alistair that she was not someone to be underestimated. He realized that there was more to her than meets the eye, and he became even more intrigued by her.
Three years later, Adrienne Jiang, deemed the witch of the Zhao family, emerged once again courtesy of his indirect invitation to Prosecutor Ji’s banquet. He asked Prosecutor Ji’s help to draw Adrienne out of her hideout, intending to ask for her hand in marriage.
If Alistair thought she was a stunning beauty three years ago, now the Adrienne Jiang before them was an enchanting witch with a beauty that could captivate even the most jaded of hearts. Her elegance and grace radiated from within, drawing everyone’s attention. It was clear that she had grown into a formidable and mesmerizing woman, making Alistair feel an indescribable possessiveness over her.
Alistair had been confident that she would accept his proposal and be over the moon because of it. However, in the end, he was the one who was left speechless. Not only did Adrienne decline his marriage proposal, but she even managed to catch the attention of Lennox Qin.
As a man, how could he not see how Lennox Qin looks at her? Lennox Qin’s intense gaze towards Adrienne spoke volumes about his admiration and attraction towards her. Alistair couldn’t help but feel jealous, realizing that he had underestimated the competition for Adrienne’s affection.
As Alistair continued to stare at the picture of Adrienne with Lennox Qin, he felt a sense of anger that he couldn’t explain. He couldn’t understand why he was so upset that she was with another man. It appeared as though someone had taken something that belonged to him while he was watching, and he was powerless to stop it.
Rage coursed through his veins as he stared at Lennox Qin’s face. After all, he was a successful businessman who had everything he ever wanted—except Adrienne Jiang.
The more Alistair thought about it, the more frustrated he became. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had missed his chance with Adrienne, making him feel like a fool. How could he have been so blind to her charms before? Why hadn’t he pursued her more aggressively when he had the chance?
As he sat there in his office, staring at the picture on his phone, Alistair made a decision. He was going to win Adrienne back, no matter the cost. He would prove to her that he was the better choice, that he was the man who could give her everything she wanted and more, not Lennox Qin.
But how to do it? Alistair tapped his fingers impatiently on his desk, trying to devise a plan. It wouldn’t be easy, but he was determined to make it happen.
Suddenly, an idea came to him. It was risky, but it might work. Alistair picked up his phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?" a voice answered on the other end.
"Mr. Jiang, it’s me, Alistair," he said, his voice low and serious. "I have a proposition to make. Are you willing to hear me out?’
Lewis Jiang cleared his throat at the other line and said, "I’m listening, Mr. Han."
