Chapter 239: No One Can Take You Away From Me (2)

Little did they know that Lennox and Adrienne were watching them from a distance, hidden behind a tree, as they continued chatting and enjoying their time together. Adrienne had insisted on taking a walk around the garden after lunch, and Lennox didn’t want to disappoint his new wife.

As they walked, they stumbled upon their guards having a picnic and chatting amongst themselves. Adrienne couldn’t help but smile at the sight. She was glad that Lennox’s guards could relax and have some fun, even if it was just for a short while.

Lennox, on the other hand, was more focused on observing their behavior. He wanted to ensure that his guards were not slacking off and were still vigilant even in their downtime.

As he watched Jasper complain about the bet, he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. He’d never thought the Qin-Si guards were bold enough to make a bet about him and his wife, but he was a bit disappointed that he and Adrienne had become the source of their entertainment these days.

Meanwhile, Adrienne wanted the ground to swallow her alive after hearing the conversation between the Qin-Si elite guards. She knew she and Lennox had been on each other like rabbits in heat. She couldn’t believe their intimate moments had become the subject of a bet among the guards. The thought of being the topic of their gossip made her feel mortified and embarrassed.

Lennox’s expression was a mix of amusement and annoyance. He had heard everything that the guards had said about him and Adrienne. He took a deep breath, trying to control his anger. He knew the topic could have offended his wife somehow, and he had to set clear rules about it.

"Excuse me for a moment, my sweetheart," he said, kissing Adrienne’s cheek before walking towards the guards.

Jasper was the first one to notice Lennox’s approach. He quickly jumped down from the tree and stood up, followed by the others.

"Master," Jasper bowed, trying to hide the embarrassment on his face.

Lennox looked at them one by one, his gaze lingering on each of them. "I hope you’re all enjoying your break," he said, his voice laced with sarcasm.

The guards shifted uncomfortably, not daring to meet their master’s eyes.

"I’m glad that my love life is such a topic of amusement for you," Lennox continued, his tone cold. "But I warn you, if I hear any more gossip about me and my wife, I will not hesitate to take action."

The guards nodded, their faces red with shame. Lennox turned around and returned to Adrienne, who was still standing where he had left her.

"They won’t bother us again," he said, wrapping his arms around her.

Adrienne smiled, grateful for Lennox’s protectiveness. "You don’t have to do that, Len. It’s nothing serious."

"It’s fine for them to make bets in the past, but I wouldn’t allow such disrespect towards you, Addie," Lennox replied, his voice filled with seriousness. "I want to make sure they understand that we won’t tolerate any more gossip or disrespect. It’s important for me to defend your reputation as my wife and show them that we deserve respect as a couple."

Adrienne nodded, appreciating Lennox’s unwavering support. "Thank you, Len, but don’t be so harsh on them."

Lennox sighed. "Alright, I will let them off this time. But I hope they realize that their behavior is unacceptable and that we won’t hesitate to take action if it happens again."

Adrienne nodded and leaned into Lennox’s embrace, feeling safe and loved. She knew that Lennox would always protect her, no matter what.

As they stood there, admiring the garden’s beauty, a sudden gust of wind blew, sending a chill down Adrienne’s spine. She shivered and rubbed her hands together, trying to keep warm.

Lennox noticed her discomfort and took off his jacket, draping it over her shoulders. "Here, Addie," he said, smiling at her. "You shouldn’t catch a cold."

Adrienne smiled back, feeling the warmth of Lennox’s jacket around her. She couldn’t believe how lucky she was to have him as her husband. He was kind, loving, and protective—everything she had ever wanted in a partner in the past.

However, it was hard for her to let go of the fear that this was just a dream. She feared she would wake up from this dream, only to find herself back in reality, where she was married to Alistair Han instead.

A slight chill crept into her heart. Adrienne did not doubt that the news of her and Lennox being spotted in Nanchuan had already reached Alistair. She was wary of what Alistair could do against her husband.

She knew Alistair was not one to take things lightly, especially regarding his property, and he deemed her already his. She had seen firsthand how he could turn vicious and cruel, and the thought of him hurting Lennox sent shivers down her spine.

Lennox sensed her unease and pulled her closer. "What’s wrong, Addie?" he asked, his tone laced with concern.

Adrienne hesitated before speaking, not wanting to burden Lennox with her worries. But she knew that she couldn’t keep it to herself any longer. "I’m just worried about Alistair Han," she admitted softly.

Lennox’s expression hardened. He knew his wife used to adore that man, but for some reason, Adrienne hated Alistair Han with passion now. However, it was evident during their last encounter with Alistair that he desired Adrienne to be his wife and wanted to have her at all cost.

It was one of the reasons why Lennox rushed his marriage with Adrienne as soon as he returned. He felt threatened that Alistair would take her away from him without his knowledge.

"Don’t worry about him," Lennox said firmly. "I won’t let him hurt you. There’s no way I would allow him to take you away from me."

Adrienne looked up at Lennox, her eyes filled with gratitude. She knew that Lennox would do anything to protect her, and that thought alone made her feel safe and secure.

As they stood there, wrapped in each other’s embrace, Adrienne realized she might have found her happily ever after with Lennox. She had found a man who loved her for who she was, flaws and all, and she knew that she would do anything to protect their love.

The wind picked up again, sending dead leaves flying past them. Adrienne shivered, but this time, it wasn’t from the cold. She knew that dangers were lurking around them, but she also knew that with Lennox by her side, she had nothing to fear. His presence alone made her feel invincible, as if together they could conquer any obstacle that came their way.
