Chapter 103: To Live a Happy Life (1)

As expected, Hunter looked displeased when Adrienne went down for breakfast. Noah and Samantha were accompanying him when she arrived. Adrienne sighed inwardly. She could already sense that it won’t be easy to pacify her brother this time.

She knew what happened last night would further ruin Lennox’s image in her brother’s eyes. However, at such a time, though Adrienne ignored propriety, she was not even the least concerned that Lennox would do anything to her. Since she and Hunter were siblings, how can she not know what Hunter was thinking about?

Adrienne ignored Hunter’s inquisitive gaze as she silently ate her meal next to Noah. The young boy could sense the uneasiness between the two and wondered if his older brother was in trouble. However, thinking of how Lennox had chased him away last night after he returned from having dinner and changing into his night clothes, Noah didn’t want to care anymore.

It didn’t take long as the doors of the elevator opened, revealing Lennox on his wheelchair with Butler Cheng. The moment Hunter saw him coming, he already had a fierce expression on his face. In his heart, Lennox was no better than a scoundrel who wanted to take advantage of his sister.

He thought that Adrienne, though already eighteen, was still young and didn’t understand men. This Lennox Qin wasn’t a simple man, he was someone with a high status in society. A man like him would naturally attract many women and Hunter didn’t want to hand over his sister to someone who cannot cherish and love her properly.

In his mind, because of his sister’s inexperience, she would be prone to getting tricked by others and Hunter certainly didn’t want her to fall for the wrong man. Thinking of this, he glared at Lennox with greater hostility.

The atmosphere within the dining room became peculiar and no one dared to break the silence - they could only look at one another. Lennox asked Butler Chang to place him by Adrienne’s right side, much to Hunter’s annoyance. If it was possible, he really wanted Adrienne to break her engagement with this man.

"Are your exams already over?" Lennox asked Adrienne, breaking the silence within the room. As soon as he uttered these words, everyone held their breaths, their eyes burning on them.

Adrienne eyed him for a moment and nodded. Was Lennox not bothered by her brother’s fierce glares at him?

Hunter looked at his sister meaningfully, but didn’t say anything. People had yet to know his real identity and still viewed him as her personal bodyguard. He then glowered at Lennox as if he was his sworn enemy.

Adrienne surveyed her brother’s expression and sighed inwardly. She actually didn’t want him to have a bad relationship with Lennox, however, she was deeply aware that Hunter was only acting like this because of his concern towards her.

Thinking about it, she once envied Cayden and Elise’s relationship in her past life. She thought it must have been nice to have an older brother who she could rely on and be pampered by him. Who would have known she actually had one and Camilla had stolen the opportunity to experience the love and care from her?

"Yeah, it ended yesterday. The result wouldn’t be out for a week though. Thanks a lot for your help, Len. I’m confident I’ll get passing grades this time."

"It’s nothing. Your hard work and persistence would surely pay off. You just need to pay more attention to your studies."

Lennox didn’t say further, but Adrienne felt that there was another meaning to it. She eyed him questioningly, but Lennox didn’t bother to give her a response.

Hunter noticed the silent conversation between the two and couldn’t take it anymore.

"Since Addie had her much needed rest. We should head back home."

It was only then Lennox regarded him, his expression not as hateful as before.

"I understand. Though Addie doesn’t have any elders waiting for her at home, it’s still improper to be away from home for too long. If there’s anything you need, you know how to reach me, Addie."

Once their breakfast was over, Addie bid goodbye to the Qin family and left with her brother. On their way home, Hunter kept giving her the silent treatment.

"Are you upset?" Adrienne questioned him, though it was quite obvious.

"Upset? No. Disappointed? Yes." Hunter replied as he held the steering wheel. "I expected better of you, Addie, but I also know you’ve been on edge these days and weren’t in your best condition."

"You could have asked Butler Cheng to wake me up." Adrienne felt a little indignant by his treatment.

"How could I ask him that when I saw myself how exhausted you are?" Her brother countered. "Addie, I might not like Lennox Qin, but I expect you to at least keep proper decorum until you two are married. Please don’t let this happen again. I don’t know how Uncle Reese would react once he finds out about this secret arrangement you have with Lennox Qin."

"I will tell him about it. Don’t be too bothered about this, okay?" Adrienne still found it hard to get used to having a brother. She observed him attentively, having noticed that his anger had somewhat mellowed down.

Hunter could only press his lips into a thin line. He knew he and Adrienne would need some time to get used to being siblings. He didn’t want to sour their relationship because of his unfavorable view of Lennox Qin.

Who hadn’t heard the rumors about Lennox Qin? Even a commoner like him had heard things about him and the complicated situation of the Qin family. Now that Lennox’s father was dead, his relatives had been eagerly waiting to pounce on him like starving hyenas.

Naturally, Hunter didn’t want his sister to be dragged into murky waters. Who knew what the Qin family could do to Adrienne, and Hunter feared he wouldn’t be able to protect her. The more he thought about it, the more he became upset. Perhaps Adrienne was right when she said he can only protect her if he gained some achievements.
