Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 102: Sleep With Me? (2)
In the middle of the night, Lennox opened his eyes lazily, feeling refreshed and invigorated at the same time. He had just woken up, but his eyes were already fierce cold. His black pupils were dark like the winter night. A layer of frost was on his face as he stared at the ceiling. That was until he suddenly felt something unusually soft pressed against his body. He lowered his head, and a familiar scent assaulted his nose.
Under the faint glow of the moonlight outside his window, he saw Adrienne snuggled by his side like a satisfied kitten. She was sleeping soundly with her arms wound around his middle section. Adrienne must have unconsciously moved closer to him, seeking warmth as the weatherhad recently turned chilly. He was sure there was a decent amount of distance between them when he fell asleep, and the bed could fit at least five adults, yet Adrienne was here, seeking his body for comfort.
The coldness in his eyes immediately dissipated as he regarded the young lady next to him. If it was in the past, Lennox was certain he wouldn’t take notice of her. He had seen and encountered a lot of women. Some were liberated, while others were conservative, but none were as bold and calculating. She had a way to make others submit to her, whether they liked it or not.
Adrienne was like a tiny pebble thrown into his life, causing multiple ripples as she dived in. He supposed that he was lucky that Samantha and Noah had taken a liking to her, making it easier for him to deal with them. However, the more he thought of her, the more Adrienne became difficult to figure out. Despite the smile on her face, there seems to be a wall between her and other people. He knew everyone had a secret to keep, but he felt Adrienne’s was far darker and more sinister than anyone else.
Lennox wasn’t expecting that she would open up to him soon, but he hoped that she wouldn’t lose herself in exacting revenge against the Jiang family. Now that she had an older brother to rely on and her mother was in a better state, Adrienne would need to reconsider her next plans.
As for his Qin family...
Everything was going according to his plans. If the Jiang family was a den of vipers, the Qin family was a pack of ravenous wolves. The peacefulness they portray on the surface doesn’t reflect the lack of tranquility and harmony inside.
Jacob Qin had thought he successfully beat him by snatching the title of the heir of the Qin family and his fiancée. However, there was no assurance of how long he could keep up with the company’s demands. As for Audrey, naturally, Lennox had no lingering feelings for her aside from pity.
Unlike Adrienne, Audrey couldn’t resist the control of her family on her. This was the most obvious difference between the two women. One was decisive, while the other had lost so much because of her indecisiveness. This was why he was more drawn to Adrienne. He, who had grown accustomed to living an austere life, had never thought he would encounter a woman who wasn’t half bad - whom he could be with, albeit not for a lifetime.
Lennox reached out and gently touched Adrienne’s jaws. She furrowed her brows slightly in sleep but didn’t wake up. Seeing her sleeping with her guard down, Lennox thought it was rare to see her like this. Her expression usually had some antagonistic, tit-for-tat nature when she was awake, but when asleep, all that remained was a gentle and beautiful appearance.
Adrienne was naturally beautiful, but she looked even more alluring in her sleeping state. He was certain she would attract many men in the future, and Adrienne would use him to deter their advances. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The morning air was fresh, and the sunlight gradually filtered through the curtains in the window. The once-darkened room was slightly illuminated by it. In all its glorious warmth, the long-absent sun hugged the city with its golden arms. The weather had finally cleared.
Adrienne unhurriedly opened her eyes, and when she did, she saw the sunlight illuminating the sky. She slept peacefully, although she didn’t expect to spend the entire night in Lennox’s room. She tilted her head from one side to another, and her body went taut.
Her body was pressed against something warm, and her arms were tightly wound around someone’s waist. Looking up, she found Lennox’s dark eyes looking down at her. Adrienne quickly released him and sat up on the bed. Had she really overslept and spent all night embracing Lennox like a koala?
A faint blush spread on her cheeks, and she looked away. Realizing the previous position they were in earlier, it would seem as if she had taken the initiative and taken advantage of him.
"I-I’m sorry." She muttered in shame.
Lennox regarded her with a smile.
"What is there to apologize for, Addie?" He teased her with a smile. "Only two hours, huh? But at least your complexion looks better now."
Adrienne groaned and slipped out of bed, pulling her outer school coat from the floor. She remembered that it was folded neatly on the stool, but why was it on the floor? It was impossible for her to bump on the stool as it was set at a safe distance from Lennox’s bed.
She shook her head and pushed the thoughts aside. Adrienne was worried about spending a night in Lennox’s room. The thought was enough to give her a headache early in the morning. However, how come no one came to check on them last night? It was impossible for her brother not to demand to know her whereabouts.
Adrienne had no idea how to explain this and wasn’t eager to hear what her older brother would say about it. Hunter was already unimpressed with Lennox, and she didn’t want to make things more complicated between them.
