Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 291: Finally Saw Her
Nancy Allen still wrote down all the medicine she needs to take for Elijah Jefferson.
Elijah contacted the doctor first, then immediately instructed someone to buy the medicine.
While waiting, Elijah asked the aunt to bring breakfast over. Nancy wasn’t hungry, but under Elijah’s strong urging, she ate half a bowl of porridge.
Just as she finished eating, the doctor arrived. Faced with Nancy’s frail body, he didn’t dare to use medicine recklessly; he only considered using a small amount of fever-reducing medicine.
Just then, a subordinate called Elijah to inform him that a few types of medicine could not be found.
Elijah looked at Nancy, who had just taken the fever-reducing medicine, and instructed, "Now, go back to your room and rest, don’t think about anything. It’s okay, you’ll feel better after sleeping."
Nancy obediently nodded, returned to the room, and lay down. At this moment, all she could do was be obedient and try not to cause Elijah more trouble.
After seeing Nancy lie down, Elijah closed the door for her and told the aunt to keep an eye on Nancy and inform him immediately if anything happened.
As for the doctor, Elijah also let him go. He felt the doctor wasn’t skillful enough, and since he had to go out, he wasn’t comfortable with leaving Nancy alone under the same roof with a stranger.
After arranging everything, Elijah left quickly.
Originally, Elijah had business to attend to out of town, but he couldn’t care about that at this moment.
He started making phone calls to friends, contacting various hospitals, and personally went to the hospital to negotiate with people. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Those medicines were indeed hard to find. This place wasn’t the Capital City, and the Jefferson Estate’s influence here wasn’t particularly strong, but with Elijah’s abilities, he would figure out a way. Three hours later, Elijah obtained all the medications and, through a friend’s friend, found a highly skilled doctor.
Elijah, bringing the newly found doctor, hurried back.
Just then, a phone call came in.
A somewhat effeminate voice sounded on the other end: "Third Brother, why aren’t you here yet? We’re all waiting for you!"
Elijah looked at the medicine in his hand and casually said, "Something came up today, I’ll come over tomorrow."
The other end paused and then exploded, "Third Brother, are you kidding me? You called me first thing in the morning, saying you’d bring someone over, and after waiting half a day, you say you’re busy."
"Sorry, next time before coming over, I’ll call you in advance. Alright, you deal with it yourself, I’m busy now."
"Third Brother, can’t you be a decent person? You..."
Regardless of whether the other party was jumping up and down in anger, Elijah hung up the phone, took the medicine, and returned to the residence with the doctor.
The aunt saw him return and quietly said, "Mr. Jefferson, that young lady only drank a glass of water and has been sleeping, she hasn’t come out."
"Okay, I’ll go check on her." He said, turning around to the doctor beside him, "I’ll bring her out in a moment."
The doctor was introduced by a friend and knew who Elijah was. Seeing this made him a bit curious about what kind of woman would prompt Elijah to be so secretive, as if he was afraid of others seeing her.
Elijah approached quietly; he wanted to knock on the door but feared disturbing Nancy’s rest, so he gently opened the door and stepped in, seeing Nancy lying on her side with her back to him, asleep.
Walking to the other side of the bed, Elijah saw Nancy’s flushed face, and his heart suddenly tightened.
Reaching out again to touch Nancy’s forehead, he found it hotter than before, almost scalding.
Elijah gently pushed Nancy, "Nancy, wake up, the doctor is here."
Nancy didn’t respond, leading Elijah to realize she might not be asleep but unconscious.
Ignoring the taboo of male-female differences, Elijah quickly ran out of the room and told the doctor, "Doctor, come quickly and take a look; she’s already passed out from the fever."
The doctor hurried forward, examined Nancy’s condition, and frowned tightly.
Elijah knew Nancy’s health was poor and that she had many restrictions on taking medicine, which he couldn’t fully understand, but he knew the medication she was taking.
Elijah quickly showed the doctor all the medicines, and the doctor could discern the underlying issues based on these medications.
After reviewing the pile of medicine, the doctor couldn’t help but comment, "With such a body, she should probably be cared for like an ancient lady, kept in seclusion without making the slightest error."
Elijah, feeling a bit guilty, asked, "What should we do now?"
"Her body’s inherent issues can only be slowly nursed; it’s not something that can be fixed quickly. What I can do now is control her current high fever without affecting her body too much."
"Alright, I’ll leave it to you."
The doctor was indeed skilled and quickly managed to bring Nancy’s high fever under control.
Elijah finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The doctor left some medication, instructing, "Until her fever completely subsides, monitor her closely. If her temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, give her a dose of fever-reducing medicine. I’ve written down the dosage. Given her condition, she might have a fever for two or three more days, but as long as the temperature is gradually decreasing, it’ll be fine. Call me if anything happens."
"Okay."
Elijah saw the doctor out.
Looking back, Nancy’s breathing was much steadier after the fever subsided.
This time, she was truly asleep. Elijah, a bit anxious, gently touched Nancy’s forehead again, relieved it wasn’t hot anymore.
Buying the medicine had taken three hours, and it was already noon. Elijah ate a little lunch and told the aunt, "Keep the meals warm, and don’t disturb us."
After speaking, Elijah returned to Nancy’s room, sitting in a chair there. Given Nancy’s current condition, he wasn’t comfortable leaving her alone to sleep and felt more at ease watching over her.
After a while, Elijah felt a bit tired; after all, he hadn’t slept on the overnight flight from early morning to daybreak, and Nancy hadn’t slept either.
Elijah yawned several times, leaning back on the chair and slowly closing his eyes.
The doctor was right; Nancy’s fever lasted for three days.
During these three days, she was in and out of consciousness.
Once she was awake but not fully recovered, she called home to assure them she was safe.
No news for the past two days surely worried her parents.
Nancy changed into a fresh outfit, washed and tidied herself, neatly fixing her hair, before video calling her mom.
Clara Goodman had indeed been worried the past few days; without any calls from Nancy, she finally breathed a sigh of relief when her daughter called.
Nancy typed, "Mom, sorry, I’ve been having so much fun these days that I forgot to tell you I’m okay. Don’t worry, I’m fine. I’ll come back once I’m done playing."
Clara saw Nancy looking spirited, with a smile on her lips. Her face seemed slightly flushed, looking healthier than the pale complexion she had at home, suggesting she really was fine and had simply been out having fun.
Clara had no idea that Nancy’s flushed face was due to not having fully recovered from the fever.
Across from her, Godfery Shaw kept his eyes fixed on the video of Nancy’s face.
He finally saw her, watching her almost greedily.
