Chapter 236: 236. Fresh Start - 2

Tamasya set the flowers in a vase by the side of her bed. The deep red carnations spread a faint, sweet fragrance through the room. She adjusted them carefully, trying to delay the inevitable need to turn around.

William leaned against a wall near the entrance, smiling as he crossed his hands and looked at her figure. His posture was relaxed, but his gaze was anything but casual; it looked at her, trying to etch her image in his mind forever.

He had just been like this for quite a few minutes now.

<"He just keeps looking at you,"> Shadow spoke in Tamasya’s mind while she set the flowers.

Tamasya’s heart beat wildly.

"What do I do now? What do I say?? He’s been so silent. He just came and made me flustered by his poetic words, and now his gaze is all over me. What happened to his lover?? Did she leave him?? Or did he leave her for me?"

<"Why don’t you ask him??">

Tamasya bit her lip; that was not something she wanted to ask so soon. The mere thought of voicing those questions made her chest tighten.

Finally, she straightened as the flowers were set. She turned and looked at William with a mild smile, one she carefully crafted to hide the storm within.

William came out of his stupor as his eyes met hers. "Let’s go to the kitchen," he said with a wave of his hands.

"But..." Tamasya was about to say she was not hungry.

"I am hungry," William said, removing the need for her to add anything else. He straightened on his feet and let Tamasya walk beside him as they both walked towards the kitchen.

The silence between them was no longer awkward, but it wasn’t comfortable either. It carried tension, anticipation, and something unspoken that refused to settle.

"How has the breaking of seals been going on?" he asked.

Tamasya looked at William, surprised. How did you know??

"Principal Andrea told me," he said.

Tamasya remained shocked; a bad premonition rose in her heart. Did Yue tell Andrea about her feelings for William? Her thoughts began racing again. The memory of Andrea’s playful wink, her teasing words before leaving, all came crashing back.

As she overthought this, William looked at her, noticing how she had ignored his question again.

He just shook his head and figured he would make her speak eventually.

The kitchen came into sight.

It was spacious yet cozy, the marble counter reflected light softly, and the silence here felt more intimate than anywhere else.

"Let me cook something with the chocolates," William said as he opened the drawer where he had earlier stocked entire crates of chocolate for her.

Opening her drawer, all he saw was emptiness.

He looked at Tamasya with a surprised expression, who had now come out of her thoughts with the sound of the drawer opening.

"You could have just told me to send you more chocolates," William asked her, turning his head to the side.

"I..." Tamasya didn’t have anything to add to this; she had been too prideful to ask for newer chocolates. Her fingers curled slightly, betraying her discomfort.

William sighed. "You really like chocolates that much??"

Tamasya bit her lips before she said in a very soft tone, "They help with the pain of breaking seals, also other types of pain..." William immediately understood what she was talking about.

"How many days ago did the chocolates finish off?" he asked, stepping close.

Tamasya looked at the drawer. "A few months."

William frowned. "So you were facing the pain of breaking seals for the past months without any chocolates??" Tamasya didn’t reply and avoided matching his gaze.

William moved his hands and ran them lightly through her hair, making her shiver. The touch was gentle and almost apologetic.

"I am sorry," he said with a gulp; a pang of guilt arose in his mind.

"Well, it will be alright now; I will help you break those seals," he said while the back of his hands caressed her temples.

"Let me cook something good for you!! made of chocolates," he added with a light smile.

Tamasya felt his touch and couldn’t understand the reason behind his boldness; she wanted to know what made him change so badly. What happened to the careful William she knew earlier?

She liked everything that was happening, yet she felt she had a lot of layers to peel to truly reach his heart.

"What am I even thinking? We are not lovers that I would be curious about him!!" she told herself suddenly.

<"What’s wrong with you!!, even I wanted to mate with him when he said those lines about your beauty">

"He was not serious!!" Tamasya told Shadow, embarrassed, about her shamelessness.

Suddenly, Tamasya felt herself being lifted from the waist.

"What!!" She got flustered as she looked at William picking her up before making her sit on the kitchen slab by his side as he returned to whisking the cake batter he was preparing.

The motion had been so natural, so effortless, as if he had every right to do it.

"Why do you seem so lost?" he asked as if he had not just touched her so intimately.

<"Yeah, I doubt he wasn’t serious.">

"I have a lot of things to tell you," William suddenly said as he saw himself getting ignored for the fourth time, "but I want you to stop ignoring me like this," he said with a pout that he had learned to make from Tamasya herself.

"I am not ignoring you!!" Tamasya spoke as if she were being wrongly accused. "What do you expect me to say about all those cheesy lines?! You just threw at me, who taught you this stuff??"

William kept focused on his cake, ignoring Tamasya this time, making her seethe and restless.

"Why are you ignoring me now!!" Tamasya leaned forward while sitting on the slab beside him, demanding answers from him.

William sighed and took a small amount of melted chocolate in his fingers before smearing it on the tip of her nose lightly.

Tamasya gasped, "What are you doing!!" She tried to wipe the chocolate off her nose, but William held her hands and stopped her from doing so.

He chuckled and came forward. "I think my words about your beauty were sincere. I take back what I said about me joking; I was not, actually."

Tamasya forgot she had something on her nose for a moment.

"What are you saying?? Are you out of your mind!!! Do you have a fever or something?" Tamasya asked with a gasp and checked his temperature.

William looked at her seriously for a moment. "You know!! I came here to achieve something!! Something that I thought would demand patience from my side, I was ready to wait for it, grind for it, and eventually cross the line that’s been keeping us apart."

His voice lowered, gaining weight with every word.

"But your silence makes me more impatient; every second feels so slow, as if I will be too late if I hesitate right now," William spoke while Tamasya remained frozen.

She could not pretend not to confront this anymore. Her thoughts blurred, her heartbeat was deafening.

Before she could think about anything, she found William’s face so close to her that she forgot herself being awake.

William moved his hands and cupped her face before he lightly moved it forward and planted a peck on the small amount of chocolate smeared on the bridge of her nose, wiping it off the tip of his tongue.

Tamasya’s face was now burning; her mind had gone completely blank.

"I am here to make you mine, forever. I am here to make you fall in love with me again."

William did not hold himself back anymore; he sealed Tamasya’s parted lips with a deep kiss. Filling her with the taste of chocolate.
