Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 205: The Kids Will Wake
The truth was, she always wanted him to stay as well, but she didn’t want to push it or make him change his schedule from what he was used to, she stepped closer, her voice gentle. "Leah, Daddy isn’t going anywhere."
He smiled, revealing dimples that made her stare at him in a daze for a while. Her husband and son looked exactly the same...she paused at that thought.
Husband...was he still her husband? At the islands they had renewed wedding vows and been made to sign a nuptial agreement to make it binding, to which Tristan had prepared an immediate divorce agreement under the grounds that it was an unconsenting marriage. She had signed it thinking it was over, but then...he hadn’t, so she could still call him her husband right?
Leah looked between her mother and father, still uncertain. "Promise Daddy?"
Tristan leaned down slightly, brushing a hand over her hair. "I promise."
She studied him for a moment then slowly relaxed.
"Okay," she whispered with a contented smile laying back on her bed, still holding onto his hand.
"Daddy?"
"Yes, princess?"
"Will you stay with me until I sleep?"
"Of course."
Celine tucked the blanket around her carefully, her fingers lingering for just a second longer than necessary.
Leah yawned, her grip on Tristan’s hand loosening gradually. Occasionally she would seem to drift off then suddenly call...
"Daddy..."
"I’m here." He would respond immediately.
"Don’t go okay?"
"I won’t."
Her breathing slowly grew steady, within minutes, she had fallen asleep.
For a while, neither Tristan nor Celine moved. He remained crouched by her bed looking down at the little girl, something quiet and deeply warm settling in his chest.
Carefully, he eased his hand out of hers, making sure not to wake her.
Celine motioned softly toward the door, and they both stepped out, closing it behind them.
"Leah’s always been like that," Celine said. "Once she gets attached... she doesn’t let go easily."
Tristan’s gaze softened slightly. "She’s my daughter, I’m glad she likes me enough she doesn’t want to let go."
He added more quietly, "I don’t want her to let go."
Celine looked at him then, something warm flickering in her eyes. She reached for his hand, sliding her warm hand in his own. Looking down at their intertwined hands, a pleased look surfaced in his eyes as he squeezed her hand.
She led him out to the balcony where the night air was cool, brushing gently against their skin.
Looking out into the darkness with Tristan beside her caused a surge of peace to swell in her heart. It felt like everything she’d never had for the past few years was suddenly here.
"I’m sorry." She heard him suddenly say, making her look up to see a deeply regretful look in his eyes. "For not being here when you needed me the most."
"You’re here now." She raised her hands to caress his face, "That’s all that matters."
He rested his palm over her own on his face, then pulled her into him, caging her warm small frame against his chest.
"Tell me about it..." He said, "How it felt to raise them."
Celine closed her eyes inhaling his scent.
"It was hard, but it was beautiful at the same time." Her voice was slightly muffled against his body, but he could hear every word.
"There were nights when they were both sick at the same time... I didn’t sleep at all." Her voice was calm, but the memories lingered beneath it. "And days when I had to choose between work and staying with them... times when I didn’t know if I was doing anything right."
Tristan didn’t interrupt, he held her silently wondering what would have been different if he’d been with her.
"I was scared sometimes" she admitted softly. "A lot more than I let them see. But then whenever they laughed or smiled, I felt happier than anyone else in the world. Watching them learn to walk, talk, play, all of those were really special. I didn’t feel alone, because I had them."
"You don’t have to do everything alone anymore. You don’t have to raise them on your own anymore." he said.
Her breath hitched softly. "I know," she replied, nestling herself even tighter into his chest.
.....
Several minutes later, Celine patted her bed fixing unruffled sheets for the hundredth time. She shot a nervous glance to the bathroom door where the sound of running water could be heard faintly, soon the sound stopped and not knowing what to do, Celine jumped into bed and pulled the blankets up to her neck.
The sound of his approaching footsteps made her close her eyes, her heart thumping.
’What are you even doing Celine?’ she asked herself as her toes curled in quiet anticipation beneath the sheets.
Was it her fault that she had blurted something stupid when she’d seen him taking his shirt off some minutes ago?
"The kids will wake up..." She had said, her eyes fixed onto the tight pecs that ran down his stomach, her throat tightened and she swallowed dryly.
"Why would the kids wake up?" He had asked, a smirk evident on his lips when he noticed her gaze on his body.
"If we make too much noise while we..." She had come back to her senses then, her eyes shooting up to meet his rather than pervertedly staring at his body.
"While we’re doing what Celine?" He had suddenly started approaching her and she took backward steps till she hit a wall.
"While we..." She drawled, noticing as his eyes remained on her lips while he caged her in.
"While we sleep...do you snore? I know I don’t." She immediately regretted those words after saying them.
A low laugh rumbled out of him, she found herself mesmerized by how visible his dimples were as he laughed. She had never seen him laugh like that before, his eyes curled with mirth. She couldn’t help but smile with him.
"Aren’t you just cute?" He said, lowering his head to lean closer to her face until their lips almost touched. Celine held her breath.
"I’ll go shower now, when I’m out, we’ll find out if we make noises while we...sleep, or not." He said the word sleep with emphasis as if it was a disguise for another word.
Celine’s lips parted and no words came out.
She had instantly jumped into bed when she heard him coming out.
If she was still awake, would he think her words were like a shameless invitating for him to...for them to...
She felt the bed dip behind her, and closed her eyes tighter, but a pair of arms suddenly settled over her waist pulling her backwards into a large, warm and firm body.
