Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Are You Sure You Don’t Want to Get Close to Me?

At this moment, in the room was Godfery Shaw, or rather Julius Shaw.

The whole person was engulfed in a riot of emotions.

Due to his negligence, that woman caused Nancy Allen to get hurt.

In Julius Shaw’s heart, Nancy was the light that pulled him out of the abyss, the one and only, no one should harm her, not even himself.

He was now full of fury, unwilling to get close, afraid of hurting her.

After calming down for a while, Julius Shaw stepped out of the room.

Nancy was sitting on the living room sofa, the TV playing a drama.

She couldn’t see clearly, just listening to the TV.

On TV, the male lead passionately asked, do you love me or not.

The female lead shouted in despair, I don’t love you anymore.

Once the male lead left, the female lead cried bitterly, talking to herself about her grievances.

Ridiculously dramatic, but Nancy was listening intently.

Julius Shaw also walked over, sitting next to Nancy.

In the quiet hall, there was only the sound of the female lead crying on the TV.

Julius and Nancy were both very quiet; neither was a chatterbox, it was normal for them not to talk for long periods.

However, Nancy was very sensitive to others’ emotions, especially those she cared about, and she could tell that Godfery was not himself.

The sofa was large, but Godfery’s nature usually kept a close but not crossing boundary distance, yet now, he was so far she couldn’t hear his breathing.

Nancy listened to the TV for a while longer, then stood up.

Julius also stood up following Nancy.

Nancy silently said, "I’m going to rest."

Julius said, "Alright, I’ll take you back to your room to rest."

Nancy heard the soft sigh of relief from this person, slightly indignant inside, was he eager to keep away from her?

This silent demeanor felt wrong, was it because of Webb or because of her being hurt?

Nancy didn’t like to second-guess each other.

She had gone through so much, finally starting with Godfery, she didn’t want any unnecessary misunderstandings.

Due to her vision impairment, Godfery led her back to the room, prepared the bath, readied her pajamas, and after she showered, dried her hair, everything seemed normal except for his efforts not to touch her.

He even remembered to place a cup of warm milk by her bedside.

"Rest well, don’t worry too much about Allen family matters, it’ll be resolved soon," Godfery said as he left the room, carefully closing the door.

Nancy was almost amused.

Did this person really think she hadn’t noticed something wrong?

She was just blind in her eyes, her heart wasn’t blind.

Trying to avoid her, wasn’t he?

Julius returned to his own room, unable to control the rage inside him.

The dartboard on the wall was filled with darts, and he was still throwing, venting the fury inside.

As if the bullseye was the thing he hated most, pierced with innumerable holes.

After venting, Julius took his regular tranquilizer and swallowed a dose.

Then his phone rang, interrupting the immersion.

Upon seeing the caller ID, he dropped the empty tranquilizer bottle and quickly stood up, walked out the door.

It was Nancy calling him, right from the next room, what was she calling for?

Julius assumed Nancy needed something done which she couldn’t handle herself because of her impaired vision.

Upon reaching the door, he thought of knocking but realized he couldn’t talk to her, knocking was meaningless, so he directly pushed the door open.

And then the rage which he had just suppressed rose again, he saw Nancy fell on the ground, her pale little face drained of color, frail and helpless, milk spilled all over, her blind eyes groping, about to touch the shattered glass.

"Don’t move." Julius quickly stepped forward.

Nancy was startled by the sudden voice, her fingertip touched the glass shard, a bead of blood slowly emerged.

The cloud in Julius’s eyes turned into a storm, anger boiling.

Without a word, he picked up Nancy and sat her by the bed, quickly fetched the medical kit, disinfected, applied a band-aid.

Nancy felt the solemn atmosphere, she actually wanted to say, for such a wound, there was no need to be so tense, even if it wasn’t bandaged, it would soon heal.

She pretended to fall, didn’t intend to get hurt, but couldn’t see clearly, and accidentally touched while hearing the noise.

This man, once fixated, persuading was useless.

Nancy found that when dealing with this person’s avoidance, acting pitiable was most effective.

Just like their first encounter five years later.

No matter guilt or doubt, no matter retreat or fear.

As long as she was pitiable enough, she wasn’t afraid of not getting to Godfery.

Seeing the atmosphere growing more oppressive, Nancy acted as if nothing was wrong, murmuring, "My clothes are wet."

Julius found clean pajamas for Nancy, without any intention to approach and help.

Apart from the earlier "Don’t move," Julius hadn’t spoken, as if all his energy was used suppressing internal aggression, his hands tightly clenched into fists.

Nancy didn’t care whether Godfery was watching or not, she just started undressing.

After all, she couldn’t see; as long as she wasn’t embarrassed, it was others who would feel awkward.

Julius’s face slightly changed, he turned his back to Nancy.

Nancy fumbled changing her clothes, misaligned the buttons, realized but didn’t make adjustments.

After waiting a while with no sound of fabric, Julius turned back around.

His eyes couldn’t look away, she was wearing pajamas with little cats, hadn’t expected Nancy’s temporary vision loss, prepared pajamas with buttons, now misaligned buttons, that face seemed enchanting, looked straightforwardly cute because of the mistake.

Julius moved closer, instinctively reached out, wanted to touch Nancy, but withdrew his hand the next moment.

Nancy felt a shadow flicker before her eyes, though she couldn’t see, she roughly knew Godfery reached out, yet he didn’t touch her, indeed he was retreating again.

Nancy didn’t know the reason, but she didn’t allow it.

She hung her head and remained still, like a sad little white flower.

Nancy felt her acting skill was especially good, this weak body didn’t need any gestures, that pitiful appearance surely scored full marks.

Julius couldn’t help but open his mouth, "Nancy sleep now, I’ll watch over you here."

Julius sat by the bed, steadfastly not touching.

Nancy didn’t lie down, instead, she groped closer to Julius, her unfocused eyes ethereally looking at him.

She knelt on the bed, reached out to hook Julius’s neck, started speaking, "Are you sure you don’t want to come closer to me?"

She spoke out loud.

Julius’s face changed, abruptly grasped Nancy’s wrist, "Don’t speak!"

Facing such a fierce tone, Nancy was unafraid, instead drew even closer, continued to speak, "Are you sure, you don’t want to come closer to me?"

She seemed to threaten, also seemed to entice.

Julius gradually lost composure, gripping Nancy’s wrist more firmly.
