Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 592: The incoming spellweaver.
Maureen's temper was already climbing with every word that Rufus said about Abraham. What was wrong with the man? This was a war, it was an us versus them situation. On whose side, was he?
Even if Rufus had confirmed that he was not affiliated with demons or practicing dark magic, the idiot had obviously done something...but what?
Phoebe scoffed. "Is he aware that when the tree dies, he dies along with it? The fact that it is rotting means that a new lead spellweaver has been chosen already. In no time a new fruit will appear and shine brightly after swallowing the dead tree." She explained exactly what Star said to her.
It was actually too late to save Abraham, his death was a written prophecy that nobody had unveiled yet because the book of prophecies had gone untouched for decades under Morrel's leadership. But before the next supernatural war, a new head spellweaver would rise to fight alongside the guardian.
This fact was known to the Saxon spirit and Star. The prophecy stated: From the embers of forgotten spells, a daughter of curses shall rise. Her hands shall weave the threads of fate, bending magic to her will. Yet, before the stars bow to her craft, her name shall be a scorn. She will be lost to shadows, bound by whispers, forsaken by love.
The world shall shun her, and the wind shall turn against her. Her spells will bring ruin and her path shall close. But in the hour of the shattered sun, when the sky weeps gold, she will be found by the bringer of eternity and weave a spell never undone.
From ruin, she shall find light. From rejection she shall reign. And the world shall know her not as lost--But as the weaver of dreams. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"If he is not talking, we might as well kill him ourselves so that the new head of the spellweavers can be born...or wake up. Whatever it is." Maureen suggested.
"We are not killing Abraham; he is already a dead man anyway. I will find other ways to find out what he did or what was done to him." Rufus said.
"Does it matter anymore? The rotten tree equals useless. No matter what he says, a new tree is coming," Luna chimed in.
"He is not immune to all truth telling talismans. A talisman crafted by the grand guardian and incoming head spellweaver, imbued with their magic can get the job done." The spirit informed them.
"Good to know." Rufus said.
They continued on the tour; Rufus introduced the different buildings and what was done inside. They saw the library, gardens, mirror courtyard, abyssal gates, playgrounds, pitch, student housing, main hall, dining area, dungeons, hospital, large kitchens, armory, classrooms and common rooms for students.
Some buildings were divided, like the students' houses. Dormitories were assigned according to the years. First year students resided in a different place as did fifth year students and all in different towers.
Guardians and professors had special housing, fully furnished independent apartments.
The academy was so huge that it had a forest, greenhouses.
As they toured, they noticed that students disappeared and appeared out of nowhere. The returnees had signs of blood, some were limping, others stunk worse than a skunk.
"What are they doing?" Luna asked curiously.
"They are going to hunt or returning from a hunt, there is no more resting here because the cases of demon sightings have increased in the past month. Azur and must be pushing hard after knowing that we are onto him." Rufus answered
He waved his hand, and they appeared in the combat training arena. Rufus watched those that were battling magic beasts, other hunters, phantoms and puppets. His finger pointed at the frozen fields beyond the arena where some people appeared to be meditating.
"Those are some of the humans over there that I have already recruited, most of them are special forces." He spoke as he transported them to another tower. "I had to involve Drusus and other independent sects and schools in this.
He told the president who was very excited. He and Drusus are choosing the teams which will participate in the war and become official human hunters. Most of them are volunteers so they know the risks. The enemy they face now is far more deadly than a gun or knife wielding nut job. While I am glad because they are patriots willing to die for the cause, I still put them through rigorous ordinary and magical checkups using the orbs to judge their intentions." He explained as he led them through the door of a hall where a group of fifty humans were on trial.
"Pheebs!" General Drusus bellowed out and he approached them, taking wide steps and smiling broadly. "It is fantastic to see you here, although I do not think that you should be with than bun in the oven." He snickered, his finger nudging at her belly not once but twice. "As your godfather, I find your parents highly irresponsible and I am suggesting that you move in with my wife and I. Tell me, when is the wedding, I do not see a ring on your finger. Why is that? Should I kick David's ass?"
Amon hurriedly jumped in because his uncle had a way of not respecting boundaries. "Pheebs." He acknowledged her and then offered a bow to the Mayfair elders. "I thought that you would be here sooner as you broke this wide open.
I know that having humans in all the major academy is unconventional, but we need all the help that we can get with what we are facing."
"I honestly like what I see here....." Phoebe paused, her eyes locking with those of the man playing with a jian blade. "Mr. Alton?" The name left her lips.
Everyone's eyes followed hers including Maureen's. "Bloody hell! Why is he here?" She buried her face with her hands. "Wait? Why do I have to hide?" She asked herself before peeking through her fingers.
"Do you know Mr. Boyd Alton? He was once the Marine special forces commander. The president's family knows him and the big man himself asked him personally to join the red Alfa team. He had retired but when he heard what was at stake, he agreed to come in immediately." General Drusus gave them all the details that he knew of.
"Red Alfa team?" Maureen re-echoed the words.
Nodding, General Drusus pulled up his sleeve and pointed at a tattoo of interlocked wings that was inked into his right arm. "A special army for the president that does off book missions, only the best of the best can qualify." He explained further.
"Under normal circumstances, such a group is a secret within a secret, but these are not normal circumstances. Alton has been one of the best students and trainers we have. He is a quick study and surprisingly knowledgeable on the supernatural." Rufus acknowledged the man's skills.
Maureen winced, her index finger lightly tapping on her lips. "So that was the secret that he was hiding! I thought that it was something related to demons or another dark thing." Her voice was a withered rose; beauty frayed on the edges.
Phoebe could tell that her aunt regretted her actions towards Alton, the way she had cut him off and ended the relationship without giving him the benefit of a doubt.
