Chapter 97: The Horse Has Problem

Marx frowned and looked at the two women who were rushing to them.

"Can we ride with you please?" Tatiana was looking at Marx expectantly.

"We are not going anywhere. Amaya still does not know how to ride a horse so she will start with the basics first." After saying these words, Marx did not pay attention to the two women. He started instructing Amaya and at the same demonstrate it to her.

Tatiana and Zanzara get their horses and lead them to prance around. They were showing off to Amaya.

Amaya was a fast learner. Marx only demonstrated once and she was able to get it. After two attempts, she was able to mount Snow with ease.

Marx asked the stable boy for two protective gears. He helped Amaya with the helmet and the protective vest. He then led the toffee-colored horse out of the stable.

"Let us do one round at a slow pace," Marx said in a serious voice. He then led the horse to ’walk’ around the training ground. Amaya noted that he was serious while he was teaching her. He looked like a hard-core professor. For some reason, she was reminded of Stephane. They have the same style when teaching.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Do you know Stephane Gray? Amaya asked.

Marx stiffened for a moment. "How did you know him?" Marx sounded surprised.

"He is my teacher in Science, so that’s Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. How did you know him?"

"We were classmates in high school and even in College." Marx sounded melancholic. "Something happened in college and we parted in bad terms."

"Can it be fixed?"

"Huh?" Marx did not understand what she meant.

"I mean, your relationship with Stepahne? You can still go back as friends."

"I don’t know Aya. It depends on him. If he says that we can go back as friends, then I have no qualms over it."

They have covered half the training ground in a relaxed mode. Suddenly, Amaya’s horse neighed. It lifted its two feet in the air. If not for Amaya’s agile reflexes, she should have been thrown out on the ground.

The horse seemed to have gotten agitated. It suddenly galloped away. Marx whipped Toffee and guided him to follow Amaya.

Amaya was familiar with the behavior of animals. Something has agitated Snow and he seemed crazy. He was running too fast. If Amaya jumped from him, she might be injured. Instinct told her that to control the horse she should tighten her hold on the rein. She did just that. Snow slowed down a bit but galloped again.

Amaya could only tighten her hold on the horse mane so she will not fall. Soon a few people riding horses were coming her way. They were shouting but she cannot make out what they were yelling at her.

Snow was very restless. It seemed as if he did not want her on his back. Her saddle was slipping and she was also slipping. Snow was heading straight into a tree.

It was her only opportunity.

Marx, including the few people who went to her rescue, was scared when they saw what the horse’s intent was. The horse was an extremely intelligent one. He had been trying to shake off the rider from his back but he failed. Now it wanted her to be caught in the tree.

Amaya held her breath. When the timing was right, she let go of the rein and the horse’s mane and grasped the protruding branch, and swing her body before she landed perched on top of the branch.

Except for Marx, the guards who had stopped their horses were dumbfounded. They couldn’t believe what they have just witnessed. How did the princess do that?

Marx stopped his horse under the tree.

"Come down. Let us get back. We still need to go to the island remember?"

"How about Snow?" Amaya looked in the direction where her horse ran off.

"They will take care of Snow." Marx looked back at the five men who were still in a daze.

"Are you ready?" Amaya asked Marx in a teasing manner.

"Huh? Ready for what?"

Amaya stood on her toes at the branch, she somersaulted and landed astride at the back of Marx.

The horse was startled by a sudden weight and it neighed and almost galloped away but Marx was able to control it in time.

"You startled the horse." His voice sounded hoarse. He could feel Amaya’s breath on his back. He was wearing a cream-colored shirt and the material was a bit thin.

"I am sorry," Amaya said softly.

Marx swung his body and in a blink, he was behind Amaya. He handed her the rein. "You can let Toffee gallop back to the stables."

"Why do you think Snow became wild? I almost fell from him."

"Something must have triggered the horse to become crazy. Or he must have seen something on the ground that scared him." Marx eye’s darkened. It looked like someone was out to hurt Amaya.

Amaya did not notice it earlier because she was focused on staying at the horse’s back. Now that she was no longer in danger, she realized that they have exited from the palace grounds.

"We are outside the palace!" Amaya exclaimed.

"Yes. Your horse ran very fast. He cleared a lot of the barriers along the way. You did pretty well by not falling."

Marx held Amaya’s hands.

"Gently squeeze the middle of the Toffee’s ribcage with the calves of your legs to tell him to move forward," Marx whispered in her ear. Then with hands over Amaya’s, he gently pulled the rein. The horse moved forward.

"Kick the sides of the horse gently to make it go faster."

Amaya followed Marx’s guidance. She kicked gently and the horse went faster.

"Now, lean back a little and straighten your body."

To ensure that the Princess is safe, two of the knights, followed Marx and the Princess closely.

"Why do I feel that the guest is seducing the princess rather than teaching her?"
