Chapter 73: Don’t Think Of Marrying Her Off

"What are you saying, Ibarra? Amaya has just returned to us. And she is only turning eighteen. Don’t even think of marrying her off." The king seemed agitated.

Amaya continued eating as if the discussion did not concern her at all.

"Father, I am not saying that I will marry her off. I am just scouting for a possible husband for Amaya, one who can be our ally...."

"Enough! You can send the invitation to them but don’t do anything rash." King Duncan said sternly.

The crown prince lowered his head. "Yes, Father. We will just send them the invitation," Ibarra continued eating without saying anything more.

Danella was secretly pleased when she heard that the princes from Albanya will be invited. She has a crush on the third prince and it would be a good opportunity for her to meet him at the party.

The silence stretched for a few minutes when Donello decided to break it.

"Father, how come, my elder sister did not have any guard watching over her when she was at school today? Can my guards also not follow me anymore? They are really annoying."

Prince Ibarra was surprised to hear that Amaya did not have a guard accompaning her today. He glanced sharply at Nelida. Didn’t she assign a guard for her?

"I am sorry my husband. I forgot all about it. I will arrange for a guard to accompany her tomorrow."

"Dad, I am okay without a guard. I am already old and I can protect myself. Besides, I don’t have enemies so there shouldn’t be people who will harm me right? I am not used to someone following me around." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"You are now the First Princess of Lireya, Aya. There are always unscrupulous people who can harm you for selfish gains. It is always better to be safe than sorry." the crown prince spoke gently.

Amaya was touched. Right now, her Daddy Ibarra called her Aya and spoke to her in a gentle voice like her Daddy Ibrahim did. Her eyes reddened.

King Duncan watched her closely and he saw that she was holding back her tears.

"Are you alright my granddaughter?" King Duncan asked in a concerned voice.

"I am alright Grandpa. I just remembered Daddy Ibrahim. Just now, I thought it was him who spoke to me."

Everyone at the table looked at Amaya and then there was silence.

Ibarra thought about what he said to Amaya earlier. He just called her Aya and he spoke in a gentle tone. Was that how Ibrahim normally talk to her?

"Your safety is important. Nelida, assign her shadow guards so she will not feel embarrassed."

"Okay. I will do as you say, Hubby." Nelida said in a sweet voice. She was always obedient to her husband.

"All right I am done eating and I will retire to my room. You can all do your thing. See you tomorrow at 7:00 am." King Duncan announced then he left the dining hall.

Amaya went directly to the kitchen. She took three jars from the cupboard and took out the leaves. She smelled the leaves before throwing them into the pot to brew the health tonic for her grandma. She asked Lilia to prepare another pot. She selected different kinds of leaves and put them inside the pot. It was the medicine for her cousins.

She asked Lilia to carry the pot to her grandmother. It already became her daily routine to visit her grandma twice a day. This also made the queen happy and her complexion became better. She was motivated and cooperated with her caregiver when they went out early that morning for a walk under the morning sun.

After she visited her grandmother, she went to the right wing where her two cousins Camilla and Riyana were sleeping. She and Lilia were asked to wear facial masks and gowns before they were allowed into the room.

Earlier, she made a concoction that was good for the flu. She felt lucky that she brought a few of the herbs from Dave’s nursery and have the gardener plant them in a plot of land at the back of the palace.

She has asked her grandfather to have the lot converted into an herbal garden. He also assigned an experienced gardener for her. Aryana taught the gardener how to take care of each herb, especially the Milagrosa.

Amaya asked Lilia to pour a cup of the concoction. She added some honey and a special herb that made the taste of the concoction likable. She remembered when she was ten and had the flu, her father made her drink the concoction and she liked it very much.

"Camilla, drink this and I promise you, that you will get better tomorrow." Amaya helped the weak girl to sit up and drink from the cup. When Camilla smelt that the beverage was good she took a sip. She was surprised to find it sweet. She finished the entire cup.

"Thank you Elder Sister." Amaya smoothened her messy hair before she helped her back to the bed. She went to the other bed. The nanny has already helped Riyana so sit. Amaya handed the cup to the little girl. Riyana looked at Camilla and was waiting for her to say something.

"It tastes good. it is not bitter. Drink it up and you will feel better." Her elder sister coaxed her.

Riyana nodded at her sister and she finished the entire cup in a few gulps. She handed the porcelain cup back to Lilia. She looked at Amaya and thanked her sincerely.

"Sleep early and rest well. I will pass by tomorrow morning to check on you." She did not linger in the room. She still needed to visit Yohan.

The moment the door closed, Riyanna turned toward her elder sister.

"Sister, do you think she likes us? She doesn’t hurt us like the Princess Consort and Danella do."

"Yes, Riyana. I do think that she likes us. She looked sincere in wanting us to get better."

"But sister, what if there is poison in the drink and she wants to harm us?"

"Nonsense! What are you talking about? Who told you about poison?"
