Chapter 72: A Husband For Amaya

Marx Skylar! He hasn’t heard that name for a long time. A glint flashed across Stephane’s eyes.

"Do you know Marx?" Amaya looked up. Her voice brought him back to his senses and he put the spoon in his mouth.

"Yes, we knew each other a long time ago. We went to the same high school." He replied nonchalantly.

"Oh, that’s great. I will tell Marx the next time we talk to each other." Amaya peeped into the grey eyes but Stephane was looking down at his plate. He paused for a moment before he said, "There is no need. He might not remember me. Besides we are not that close." His voice turned cold.

Amaya and Julienne were surprised to hear the iciness in his voice but they pretended not to notice. After that, they continued to eat in silence.

Asteria palace, the throne room...

"Your Highness, Lady Tatiana wants an audience with you," a royal guard announce.

"Let her in." Crown Prince Ibarra did not look up but continued perusing the document in his hand.

Tatiana came in. She was wearing a blue dress with small prints of white flowers scattered on the skirt. She rushed to stand in front of the crown prince.

"Uncle, cousin is trending again." She took her phone and showed the screen to the crown prince.

Prince Ibarra pursed his lips when he saw the video of Amaya holding a drumstick with her hand and biting it.

"Call her governess over here! Didn’t she teach her table etiquette? Why is she eating in a cafeteria and not at the Royal Chef restaurant?" The crown prince was furious.

"Uncle, don’t be mad. I am pretty sure that Amaya did not do it on purpose. Maybe she is still having a hard time learning how to use cutlery. Please don’t take it against her uncle." Tatiana pretended to defend Amaya.

"And how about you, what are you doing here? Don’t you have class?"

"I don’t have class today, Uncle."

Prince Ibarra was about to say something when Clarissa arrived, panting heavily.

"Greetings, You Highness." She bowed her head slightly.

"Didn’t I tell you to teach Amaya table manners? A video is posted on the internet with her eating a drumstick using her hand."

Clarissa did not see anything wrong with it. Doesn’t everyone eat fried chicken using their fingers? It’s not that Amaya was in a formal banquet. She was in a cafeteria. Of course, she cannot voice out her thoughts.

"I apologize, Your Highness. I will teach Amaya again." She raised her head to look at the crown prince briefly then lowered her eyes.

"Your Highness, I checked the comments and more people are actually praising the princess. The netizens are saying that she is down to earth and not pretentious and eats just like everybody does."

"But Uncle, there are also netizens who say that Cousin is uncultured and uncouth and not a princess at all." Tatiana glared at Clarissa. How dare she stood up for that wild girl.

"Just teach her well, Clarissa. I understand that it will take time. But she should be mindful of how she acts"

"Yes, Your Highness."

The two of them were dismissed. Prince Ibarra took his cell phone and checked on the trending topic. It was still his daughter’s video that was on top. He browsed through the comments and the governess was right. Most of the comments were favorable. The netizens were actually loving her more.

That evening when the Royal family gathered for dinner, Amaya was looking around and frowned. "I haven’t seen Camilla and Riyana, also Yohan. Are they not joining us?" She asked the servant who was setting the table.

"The three of them contracted the flu, Princess. They are currently in isolation." the servant answered her respectfully.

"All three of them?" She asked concerned.

"Yes. It is the flu season and they are still young so it is easy for them to get sick."

King Duncan and Prince Ibarra entered the dining hall at the same. They came from an important meeting.

Princess Nelida and her two children settled on their seats. Amaya sat to the left of her grandfather.

When they were settled and started dinner, King Duncan brought up the topic of Amaya’s birthday.

"How is the preparation, Nelida?"

"It is all good, Father. The invitations were sent out. Tomorrow morning, the seamstress will come over to check the fit of the gown. As for the tiara.."

When Amaya heard the word tiara, she looked at Princess Consort Nelida, then her Daddy Ibrahim, and finally King Duncan.

"Grandpa, Daddy Ibrahim actually designed a tiara for me. I think Marx mentioned that before. He will definitely bring the tiara here before my birthday."

The king nodded, then he looked at Nelida again.

"The food has been selected, Father."

"That’s good." The King turned to Amaya. "Do you want to invite some of your classmates?"

"Yes, Grandpa. I will invite two classmates."

"Just two?" Ibarra was surprised. He remembered when the twins celebrated their birthdays last time, they invited multitudes of friends, and the banquet hall was not spacious enough to accommodate all of them.

"I only gained two friends today, Dad."

"How about you invite all of your classmates and teachers as they get to know you better and vice versa?" Prince Ibarra’s heart ached for his first daughter. She grew up alone and might have a problem socializing.

"Nelida, ask someone to send the invitation to Amaya’s classmates and teachers."

"All right." Nelida answered obediently.

"Did you also send the invitation to the Royals of Albanya and Lupanya?"

Nelida stiffened. She did not send an invitation to the Royal Family of the neighboring countries.

Ibarra could sense from Nelida’s actions that she did not send the invitation.

"They are our neighbors. It is good to cultivate good relationships with them. Albanya has three princes and two of them are around Amaya’s age. Lupanya has five princes. I hope that they can come so we can select a possible husband for Amaya as early as now."
