Chapter 42: He Suffered Injustice In His Lifetime

Amaya together with her assigned governess left the mourning hall. Clarissa accompanied her to her room which was located on the north wing of the castle. It was overlooking a beautiful garden.

Her room was spacious. The queen size four poster bed with a dark wood bed frame was placed in the middle of the room but the headboard was against the wall. Beside the bed were a gorgeous gilded dresser and a velvet armchair.

To the right of the dresser was a door that led into a bathroom. There was another door to the left of the dresser. The governess Clarissa opened it for her.

"This is the cloakroom. All your clothes have been unpacked and placed in the closet. There is only one suitcase that was not unpacked because it has a lock on it. You can change into more comfortable clothes, my Princess." Clarissa opened the closet and selected a light pink midi dress with a halter neck.

She helped Amaya unzip her gown. Amaya let the gown slip down on the floor and stepped out. She was only wearing a bra and her panty.

Clarissa’s eyes widened. She now understood that Amaya had no sense of shame. She might have gotten used to undressing by herself. She looked at the naked woman before her. She has a beautiful hourglass body, and she is not even 18 yet.

Clarissa handed the dress to Amaya, who took it. She studied it for a while before slipping into it. She tried to zip the back, and she smiled when she succeeded without help on her first attempt.

"Princess, remember not to undress in front of many people. Your body is something private that you should keep to yourself. Even I should not be seeing you like this." Clarissa’s voice was caring and kind.

Amaya nodded. She looked at the array of shoes at the bottom of the closet and picked out a low-heeled white sandals with a strap that went around her ankle.

When they left the room, Clarissa sat on the two-seater couch beside the main door, angled to face the bed and the window.

"You can go take a nap, Princess. When you wake up, you can look for me." Clarissa stood and left, closing the door silently.

Amaya walked towards the window and looked at the garden below her. She liked her room and the view outside. She went back to the bed, removed her sandals, and lay down on the bed. The mattress was very soft, like the one she had in SkyScapes.

King Duncan and the crown prince had invited Marx to the king’s study. The three of them were sitting comfortably on the couch. A servant came in to serve tea.

"On behalf of my family and the Kingdom of Lireya, I would like to thank you for bringing my granddaughter back." King Duncan’s words were polite.

"We saved each other’s lives, Your Majesty. No need to thank me." Marx was equally polite.

King Duncan coughed lightly. "I looked up the island on the map but did not find it. No one would have known about the existence of that island if not for you."

"Amaya called the island Miraga, and the volcano will be named after Miraga."

"Miraga? What a strange name." Prince Ibarra shared his thoughts.

"It came from ’mirage.’ Ibrahim and Amaya wondered why no one came to the island, and they concluded that from afar, the island was just an illusion." Marx explained.

King Duncan nodded as if accepting the explanation.

"The things that you find on the island belonged to my son and my granddaughter, so they should belong to Lireya." King Duncan did not beat around the bush but went directly to the topic he wanted to discuss.

"Your Majesty, the artifacts displayed in Skylar’s museum will be shipped to Lireya in three weeks. I only created replicas to be kept in the museum."

"That’s good. My son Ibarra told me you bought the property of the Earl of Anishton?" King Duncan sipped the tea from his teacup as he curiously regarded Marx.

"Yes, Your Majesty. Amaya brought along her pets and she doesn’t want them to be in the zoo. She wanted her own island, and the Earl’s property in the south met the criteria. It is a small island not too far from the capital."

"Father, the island cost 100 million dollars, and I told Marx Skylar that we can reimburse the amount he paid, but he said that Amaya was paying for it."

King Duncan’s facial expression was clouded with shock.

"Amaya will only pay half of it. The half will be my gift for her 18th birthday."

"Fifty million is still a huge amount. Where will Amaya get the money to buy an island?"

"She has some gold that we were able to take out from the island. I deposited them in a Swiss bank, and they can be converted into bank notes anytime."

"What is your intention for my granddaughter? Why are you spending a lot of your money on her?" King Duncan’s voice suddenly sounded hostile. The man before him doesn’t look simple. How much about Amaya was he hiding?

"Aya is my savior. Without her, I could have died. The money I spent for her is nothing compared to the value of my life, Your Majesty. Your son Ibrahim has left a note that I should take care of his daughter; he signed it with his name. He also left a blood thumbprint ." Marx calmly said.

Prince Ibarra exploded. "Amaya is my daughter!" He wanted to say more, but words failed him.

Marx glanced at Prince Ibarra. "You are only her father on the paper. Ibrahim was her father for twelve years. He was there for her in the most challenging times of her life." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Marx took a tea cup and drank the green liquid in one go. He then looked at King Duncan and said in a serious tone, "I hoped that the Lireyan monarchy will recognize Amaya’s real father. I have been on the island for only a few days but I experienced how difficult and dangerous their lives were. I could not fathom how Ibrahim survived all that and kept Amaya alive. I pity him. He suffered too much injustice during his lifetime."

He held the king’s gaze with his hawk-like ones and was trying to silently convey his message. But in the end, he still spoke. "I hope that His Majesty will not let the injustice continue in his death."
