Raised From The Wild-Chapter 43: The Gifts
Both King Duncan and the crown prince felt that they were slapped in the face. It seemed as if Marx was talking about them.
"Of course. Ibrahim is my son after all." The king finally said after a moment of awkward silence.
In the evening, Amaya was scheduled to have dinner with the crown prince’s family. She planned to hand her gifts to her family members. She did not prepare gifts for the daughters of the concubines and Prince Ibarra’s youngest son. But she remembered that Flint Stone made extra jewelry using the other designs she made. He also made two extra totem necklaces so Amaya can choose from them.
She also didn’t have a gift for her grandmother. She looked at her closet and saw the beautiful fur coat that her father made for her 14th birthday. It was the last piece of cloth he made for her. She thought her grandma would be happy if she gave it o her.
She asked Clarissa to have it gift-wrapped. She had seen when she googled how people give presents to other people. They invest in good packaging.
Her father Ibrahim had carved out two beautiful wooden mini barrels made of oak. The wine inside was aged eight years ago. He also added grounded tiger bones to the wine. On the base of the barrel, he engraved the name King Duncan Rocas in one of the mini barrels and Prince Ibarra Rocas on the other.
He also made a goblet made of gold for both of them. It took him three months of trial and error before he finally perfected the goblets. They were encased in a wooden box inlaid with gold. The outside was also coated with gold. Like the mini barrel, the goblet has the names of the king and the crown prince on them.
Clarissa finished wrapping the fur coat and she also provided Amaya with gift tags where she can write the names of the receiver of the gift. Clarissa was surprised to find Amaya’s handwriting very neat and nice.
Before dinner, a palace servant informed Amaya that she was needed at the mourning hall. Clarissa accompanied her. When they entered the hall, Amaya saw a lot of people in uniform. She scanned the room for Marx and he saw him talking to one of the uniformed men. Her Daddy Ibarra along with the king was also there.
Amaya looked at Clarissa wanting her to explain.
"The ones in dark green uniform are Lireya’s high-ranking military officials. The ones in blue ... I do not know."
Prince Ibarra saw Amaya hesitate at the door, so he gestured for her to come.
"Amaya this is General Douglas Jones from the Uropan Security Council." Prince Ibarra introduced Amaya to the general.
"Good day to you General Jones. It is my pleasure to meet you." Amaya greeted the general in fluent Uropan language. The General looked at her with a shocked expression but he recovered fast and accepted the hand she offered for a handshake.
"So you could speak Uropan?" General Jones asked her.
"Yeah. Daddy Ibrahim taught me the four major languages." She answered nonchalantly.
"I am Ibrahim’s superior in the military. Is it true that he died three years ago?" General Jones earlier read what was written on his memorial tablet. His death was three years ago but looking at his corpse, it doesn’t seem to be right. He did not show any sign of decomposing.
"Yes, it is true. His coffin is totally sealed because it is inlaid with gold and I also placed some plant extract on him and that might be the reason why his body is still intact."
"Actually, I am here for another purpose. Can I talk to you in private?"
Amaya looked at the three powerful men who were standing beside her. Her grandfather, the King of Lireya, her uncle, the crown prince, and Marx who was a CEO of a conglomerate. She was asking for their permission.
The king and the crown prince nodded to signify their permission. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"Can I go with her? I was with her when we left the island. What you are looking for, I might have already found out." Marx was an extremely intelligent man. His IQ was said to be over 250. He deduced that the general was looking for something.
General Jones eyed Marx warily. He was trying to gauge whether to agree to his request or not.
"Let him come," Amaya said in a firm voice.
They were ushered to the North Wing where the garden was. In the middle was a gazebo. Amaya was looking around. She saw this garden from her window. The garden was even more beautiful up close.
"I will not beat around the bush." General Jones started. "As you know, Major Rocas was on a secret mission when he disappeared fifteen years ago. He carried with him some information that we desperately, need even now." General Jones hesitated. "Did Ibrahim entrust anything to you before he died?"
"Daddy has only his cell phone, a pocket knife, and a watch. Except for the pocket knife, the two were useless because they ran out of battery.
"I had his cellphone charged but I did not touch the watch." Marx volunteered the information.
The general became excited. Maybe there is something on the watch?
"Can I borrow the watch and then I’ll return it after checking?"
Amaya looked at Marx as if asking for help whether she will agree or not.
Marx nodded.
"Alright then. I’ll go back to my room and get it."
Amaya left the gazebo and went back to her room. After getting the small wooden chest that contain her father’s cell phone and wrist watch she went to the window and gazed at the garden where the gazebo was. She waved enthusiastically when she saw Marx look up.
Marx was embarrassed but he still managed to raise his hand and wave back at Amaya. ’This woman is really so childish.’
