Chapter 41: Very Important Piece Of Him

"Cousin, what were you thinking when you removed your stiletto and snapped off the heels?" Tatiana who was sitting beside Zanzara asked in a loud voice. All eyes were trained on Amaya.

Tatiana saw photos of Amaya taking off her shoes and snapping the heels. Netizens were speculating why she did that. A lot commented on how cute she looked but others criticized her for being unladylike.

"I am not used to it and not comfortable. I am going to sprain my ankle." Amaya replied casually.

"Don’t worry cousin. I’ll teach you how to use a stiletto." She said looking in Amaya’s direction but she was actually ogling at Marx.

"Thank you, Tatiana," Amaya answered in a friendly manner.

"And why did you cover your ears when you heard the band playing?" Tatiana asked innocently.

Amaya looked at her blankly. Marx pursed his lips into a thin line. He wanted to speak but Amaya beat him to it.

"The strange sound was too noisy for me at first. It is like thunder and louder than the roar of many beasts." Amaya explained.

"It must be very difficult for cousin to see so many strange things after you were rescued from the island," Zanzara spoke. She did not like it that her sister was getting all the attention.

"It was difficult at first." She then looked at Marx and smiled at him. "But Marx helped and later on there was also Chloe."

Zanzara pursed and gritted her teeth. ’Is she that close to Marx that she calls him on a first-name basis?’

"I have one more question cousin and I hope you don’t mind. Why did you take off your clothes with so many people around and dived into that pond? We were shocked." Tatiana asked in a loud voice. It was her intention to let everyone hear what she asked.

Everyone froze and a deafening silence fill the entire banquet hall.

"That was a shameless act." Danella butted in. Her father glared at her and she sunk back in her chair.

"That was something unbecoming of a princess." Shanaya, another cousin of hers interjected.

Murmurs were heard from the other end of the long table. Marx was waiting for the king or the queen or the crown prince to say something.

Amaya sought Marx’s eyes. She felt wronged and her eyes sparkled with the unshed tears that she was trying to blink away. She felt worse compared to when the reporter scolded her back in the museum in Usturia.

Marx’s heart ached for her. He felt that Amaya’s life will be difficult.

"She already explained herself in an interview back in Usturia. You can google it and no need to ask her again." Marx’s deep and cold voice stopped the murmurs. Zanzara felt the hair on her arm stand on its ends when she caught Marx’s glare.

’Damn! Did I make him angry? Why did he look offended?’

"That’s enough everyone. We are here to welcome Amaya to the family so stop asking those stupid questions." The king spoke and everyone continued eating in silence.

After lunch, the Rocas family had their photos taken and they moved to the mourning hall. Ibrahim’s clothes have been changed and his coffin was sealed with glass.

King Duncan pushed the queen’s wheelchair in front of the coffin. He and Ibarra helped the queen to her feet.

"Daddy you looked so handsome in your clothes." Amaya’s eyes reddened.

Queen Lucinda cannot take her eyes off Ibrahim. The queen cried silently as she gazed at her son’s face. Amaya was right. He has a smile on his face. He was happy when he died. He was finally with the only woman he loved. Seeing Ibrahim so peaceful and with a smile on his face on his death, it was time for her to let go.

Her son has forgiven those who hurt him. She can also finally let go of the resentment she felt towards her husband and her firstborn. She was so heartbroken and mad when she learned that it was Ibarra who married Danaya. She knew how much Ibrahim and Danaya loved each other and her heart bled for them.

She suffered from depression and had withdrawn from public appearances since then. When Amaya was born she dedicated herself to taking care of her and her depression was cured. She had a relapse when she learned that Danaya and Amaya died in a plane crash and that Ibrahim was also in that plane.

She looked at Amaya dotingly. She was Ibrahim’s daughter. Her beloved son has left a very important piece of him and she now has something to look forward to.

"I want to rest." Queen Lucinda said after spending some time at the mourning hall. She looked at the king with a half smile. The king smiled back at her. It was a rare moment in the past.

"Amaya, you take a rest too. You looked tired." She gestured to her governess. "Take her to her room so she can change into something comfortable."

"You go first, Grandma. I’ll follow in a while. I just want to spend a little more time with Daddy."

Queen Lucinda nodded before she was wheeled out of the hall by her nurse.

Everyone marveled at Ibrahim’s coffin.

’Are they made of real gold?’ Sapiro pondered. His question was about to be answered.

"Father, is the coffin made from real gold?" The young prince Donello asked.

"It is made of wood. The inside was inlaid with gold and the outside coated with gold and your big sister built that." Prince Ibarra explained.

"Wow! Big sister, there must be plenty of gold there?" Donello asked excitedly. Amaya nodded.

"Then, can you take me to the Island and let us go treasure hunting?"

Marx who was standing beside Amaya felt a sense of crisis when so many heads turned towards Amaya waiting for her answer.

"Unfortunately the volcano on the island erupted and destroyed everything. We were lucky that we got out of the island in time." It was Marx who answered.

"Ah, It was that island featured in the news since last week? The one that caused worldwide catastrophe because of the amount of ash it spewed into the atmosphere?" Donello asked. Marx nodded.

"What a pity! It is my dream to hunt for treasures." Donello looked disappointed.

"We can go take a look at the Island once the volcano calms down and it is safe." Sapiro went beside Donello and ruffled his hair.

"Don’t do that Uncle Sapiro. I am not a child anymore. You can do that to Yohan but not me" Donello dodged his Uncle’s hand. He was already as tall as his uncle and indeed it looked awkward for his hair to be ruffled.

"The island disappeared. The eruption has caused it to sink below sea level." Marx announced.
