Raised From The Wild-Chapter 320: Two Years Later
Princess Amaya was half-running as she turned around the corridor. She bumped into a hard wall of the chest and she almost fell but the strong arm of a man encircled her thin waist and stabilized her.
At first, she felt flustered and felt a familiar warmth and comfort, but when Amaya looked up, she stared into a pair of deep gray eyes, the coldest she had ever seen.
The man released his hold on her, and she stepped back.
"I am sorry." She apologized and hurried to the exit at the end of the corridor.
Julienne and a few of her bodyguards soon appeared and trailed after her.
The man next to the one Amaya bumped into trembled. "Sir Charles, my apologies for letting her bump into you. She suddenly appeared..."
The man he addressed, Charles, glared at him, and he stopped talking.
Charles lifted his right hand to touch the fringe on his face. A subtle, sweet scent filled his nostrils. It must have come from the young woman. His eyes flickered for a fleeting moment as a memory surfaced.
"What time is the archery ranking round?" He asked emotionlessly.
"It is about to start now, Sir Charles."
...
Princess Amaya hurried to the vast grounds of the University of Uropa, one of the top three universities in the world and the number one university in Uropa. The university was the host for the current sports and academic biennial. Athletes and geniuses from different colleges and universities worldwide gathered to compete for medals to bring glory to their universities and countries.
Donello and Amaya were both athletes representing Lireyan’s Alpha University. At first, the crown prince and his princess consort did not want Donello to participate, but Donello was stubborn and said that his sister was there. It would also be negative publicity for Lireya if their future crown prince had never participated in the Biennial.
"Father, didn’t you participate in these events as well? Your three sports medals and two academic medals are still hanging on the wall of fame in the museum. Why are you hesitating now?" Donello has grown in the last two years and is the same height as Ibarra, asked.
Prince Ibarra has a complicated look on his face. During his time, he only won the medals because Ibrahim participated on his behalf. It was a secret that not even their father, King Duncan, knew.
"Brother, I know that I am not as good as you in terms of sports and academics. How about you represent our Country in the ’Battle of the Titans?’ You will have a greater chance of winning." The young Prince Ibarra pleaded with his twin brother. He wanted to bring glory to their country but he knew that Ibrahim is more capable than him.
"Okay!" Ibrahim agreed without thinking.
The crown prince, Ibarra, smiled, but it was self-deprecating. At that time, the prince from a small country became the dark horse of those three events normally dominated by Uropa.
"Father?" Donello asked, wondering why his father zoned out.
In the end, Ibarra agreed. The Sports and Academics Biennial was a prestigious event. It was dubbed the ’Battle of the Titans’ as most of the contenders were the children of the top officials of their corresponding countries. The security was top-notch. Small countries like Lireya had no chance of hosting the event.
On the opening day, Princess Amaya arrived early but needed to use the washroom. She made a wrong turn and got lost; then she bumped into that cold man in the corridor. She was panting when she arrived at the school grounds, but she was still on time.
There were more than 100 of them. She and Donello were in different divisions, as she would compete in the Women’s individual while Donello was in the men’s. They had different schedules, so after her event, she could still watch Donello.
Princess Amaya has prepared Donello for the Battle of the Titans. They would participate in the mixed event, so she forced him to practice in Verde Island every day for the past three months.
Princess Amaya was preparing for the ranking round. After a few minutes of breathing exercises, she was ready.
She needed to shoot 72 arrows in total. She advised Donello not to show his true skill during the ranking round. They only needed to hit a score above 600 so as not to draw attention ito them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Princess Amaya was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with the Lireya Alpha University logo and a pleated blue and white plaid skirt that stopped a little above her knees. On her feet were white socks and white sneakers. The blue color dominated the white, making the skirt look charming.
Her attire appeared conservative compared to that of other athletes, yet many of the male athletes focused on her long and slender legs.
She shot 72 arrows, six arrows each, twelve times. She treated it as practice, and at the end of it, her score totaled 640, while Donello scored 620. She hoped that she and Donello would not be matched against good archers in the qualifying round.
At the observation room, the judges were watching the live feed of the archery ranking round. They focused on well known athletes from Uropa University and the University of Usturia.
One of the judges, however, was focused on watching the many male athletes crowded behind the contender from Lireya. They were gawking at her as she stretched her bows and released her arrows gracefully.
"Why are there many spectators in the area? Shouldn’t we limit the audience to only the coaches and the athlete’s companions?" He said, sounding irritated.
Some of the school officials who were in the observation room were confused. When they looked at one of the monitors that displayed the feed from the cameras of the Lireyan contingent, they did notice that are more people watching and cheering for her..
"Sir Charles, we don’t have a rule regarding that. For as long as the people do not go beyond the rope, they are allowed to watch.
"Then, add that rule. They are disturbing the athletes. Look at them ogling her. Also, reprimand her to wear more decent attire tomorrow."
School official 1: "..."
Judges: "..."
Another school official had the courage to explain, "Sir, her dress is more decent than the two athletes on her left and right."
Charles Gray paused only briefly. "It does not matter. Dressed like that, she will distract other athletes."
The older people in the room were speechless. They did not find the little girl’s dress offensive or vulgar at all. Instead, they find it cute.
Who was the conservative one?
