Chapter 319: Where Are You?

Princess Amaya stayed on the boat for three days and three nights and continued looking for Marx. They expanded the search area but did not find any trace of him. She suspected that the whale they had spotted circling the area where Marx had fallen was the one who took him away. But they were not able to trace the whale. Their only clue was that the whale was headed toward the Southwest, but many boats and yachts were docked in that area.

After conducting a meticulous and extensive search, they scoured every inch of the area, carefully examining every boat and yacht docked in the Southwest in the hopes of finding some clues. However, their efforts proved fruitless, as they could not uncover any clues or evidence that could show where Marx was or whether he was still alive.

On the fifth day, the King of Lireya forced the desolate Princess back to Asteria Palace. However, she moved back to her palace on Verde Island. Amaya skipped school for one month. She spent time at Mount Daya with her pets and saw no one. Only Julienne and Vasquez accompanied her. She refused the royal guards sent to protect her so they could only watch from a distance.

One month after Marx’s disappearance, the crown prince of Lireya and the young prince Donello visited Maharlika Palace. The crown prince was concerned about his daughter, who had lost weight and had not left her palace for a month.

"Amaya, I understand your feelings and can sense your pain. Marx was your first love, and I know how devastating it is to lose the person you love," Ibarra’s eyes dimmed with gloominess, but he hid it afterward. "However, life must go on. Do you think Marx would want to see you like this?" He tried to convince her.

Ibarra paused before continuing. "Do you think this is what your father, Ibrahim, wanted for you?"

As the princess settled herself uncomfortably on the couch in the tea room, she fixed her gaze on the crown prince sitting across from her. However, as she looked closer, she suddenly realized that Prince Ibarra’s features had faded away, and instead, she saw the face of her father, Ibrahim, looking back at her.

She threw herself into his arms. "Daddy... It hurts so much."

She finally reached a breaking point after holding back her feelings for a month. The emotions she had been suppressing suddenly flooded like the rushing water from an opened dam. It was as if all the pent-up emotions she had been bottling up were released all at once, overwhelming her with their intensity. The experience left her feeling both relieved and drained at the same time.

"I know, My Princess." Prince Ibarra patted her back gently. Of course, he knew how it felt. Just how painful was it when he received the news of the plane crash that claimed the life of his wife, who was at the prime of her life?

"I understand that you are grieving and experiencing the pain of loss, which is a challenging time to navigate. You must be mindful of your vulnerability during this time and take extra precautions to ensure your well-being. As someone who has gone through a similar experience, I urge you to avoid repeating the same mistake I made."

Princess Amaya looked at her Daddy Ibarra with reddened but expectant eyes. She could see that Prince Ibarra wanted to teach her a very important lesson.

"I was hurting when I learned that you and your mother died in that plane crash. To numb the pain, I drowned myself in alcohol. One night, when I was drunk, your Aunt climbed into my bed. She was wearing Danaya’s favorite dress and smelled like her because she sprayed her perfume. At that time, I thought Danaya had come back to me." the crown prince looked down as if he had done something shameful.

"It is all in the past, Father. At least you have the twins." Princess Amaya comforted the crown princes.

Prince Ibarra looked at Amaya with a complicated expression. His only regret was that he did not have a child with Danaya. But it did not matter; Princess Amaya was his daughter, and he was reconciled with that fact.

Princess Amaya felt better after the crown prince left. To help heal his daughter, he allowed Donello to stay behind.

Donello invited her for a horse ride. Princess Amaya had not visited the stables for more than a month. When she did, Apollo and Artemis became excited and kept on neighing.

She and Donello were already wearing their riding outfit.

Princess Amaya fed them cubed sugar. He let Donello ride Artimes while saddling Apollo and got onto his back.

At first, Amaya rode like the wind, and Donello had difficulty catching up. After a few laps, Amaya let Apollo prance while waiting for Donello to catch up.

"Sister, I did not know that you could ride so well. Hadn’t I started riding horses earlier than you? I remember you mentioned that there are no horses in Miraga." Donello said in a low voice.

"Don, when someone puts his heart into something that he wants to learn, then the learning process is shortened," Amaya explained patiently. "Besides, I had ridden Khalil and Cirrus in the past. It is almost the same."

Donello nodded before realizing that they had reached the foot of Mount Daya. They dismounted from their horses, and Amaya led Donello into the forest.

The secret guard who followed behind frowned.

’What does the Princess want to do?’ ’ Doesn’t she know that it is very dangerous in the forest? ’ one of the guards thought.

Amaya did not go deep. She whistled, and after some time, her pets came to her. They were her solace in the past few weeks.

"Khalil has fathered two cubs. If you want, you can have one of the cubs as your pet on the condition that it stays in this mountain."

"Really? Then can I name him?" He asked with wide, bright eyes.

Amaya ruffled his hair.

"Sister, don’t do that. You are ruining my hairstyle. Besides, I am already so old. I am not Johan." Donello said in an aggrieved manner.

Amaya smiled. Her brother looked so adorable.

The young prince looked at his elder sister. His father had instructed him to entertain her as she was going through a difficult time. Since she smiled, did it mean that she felt better?

...

Two years later...
