Chapter 318: In the Eye Of The Storm : He Is Missing

"All our drones were shot down!’ a trembling general was kneeling on the floor as he blurted out the bad news.

The man in a black mask smiled. "As expected of my future son-in-law. He is very perceptive and has a lot of abilities. Bring him to me at all costs." He commanded, and the General scrambled as fast as he could.

He was a distinguished General, respected by all his soldiers, but he was worthless in front of the Almighty Zeus.

...

Vaquez took a binocular from his backpack and scanned the area where he last saw Marx. He saw a black dot free-falling from the height of a ten-story building. His heart was at his throat, but then he remembered that in case of emergency, the watch should be able to protect him.

Then, his binoculars caught a graceful figure dangling in the air. His heart stopped beating for a second. He knew that Marx should have given the watch to the Princess otherwise, Princess Amaya would have already fallen to her death.

"Just as Vasquez was considering using a parachute to glide down to where Marx was headed, a helicopter appeared in the distance. Additionally, he received advice that a nearby submarine was unable to come any closer due to the shallow water."

Vasquez did not have time to heave a sigh of relief. When the helicopter was near the cliff, he jumped in, followed by Julienne and John. Then, they headed to where the Princess was.

The rescue was easy. All Vasques did was throw another rope and pull the princess in. Amaya pressed the button on her watch, and the rope automatically coiled around her waist, turning into a decorative belt.

The helicopter scanned the sea but did not see any sign of Marx. Boats were also scouring the sea.

"Marx has my watch. Can we trace using GPS?" Princess Amaya had forgotten to address him as Luciano.

"We can try. Vasquez tried to sound as optimistic as he could."

Princess Amaya asked if she could transfer into one of the boats that continued to comb the area. They searched for the rest of the day but found no trace of Marx.

Amaya was getting desperate. She asked to board the naval ship that came to help with the search. She went to see the captain of the ship.

"He was wearing a watch with a GPS tracker. I’ll give you the serial number and the code."

The captain, who looked dignified in his navy uniform, took the information and had his tech guy enter it into their system. He was surprised when his tech guy returned and informed him that the information was classified and they needed a higher level of authentication.

As darkness veiled the sea, Princess Amaya became gloomy. Dave had also arrived and brought with him special forces from Usturia who were stationed in Lireya. They provided the required authentication, but nothing showed on the screen.

Amaya was restless. They might have missed an important clue.

The captain asked her to rest in one of the cabins, but Princess Amaya refused. She asked for the photos taken by the drone and the satellite. She played and replayed the photos until her eyes hurt looking at the screen.

"Princess, let’s have dinner first. You will miss a lot of things if your stomach is empty." Julienne urged her to eat, but she didn’t have an appetite. How could she eat when Marx was still missing?

For the umpteenth time, she reviewed the photos one by one. Then she noticed something on the water that she had not noticed before.

"Hey, Julienne, Vasquez, what do you think is this?" She used a laser pointer to encircle a spot in the water.

"A shadow?" Julienne asked.

"I guess that’s a boulder under the sea," Vasquez interjected.

In the next photo, the shadow shifted.

"That’s either a shark, a whale, or a dolphin. But then, this side of the sea is not infested with sharks, so that can only be a whale who got lost." Dave, a renowned zoologist, shared his opinion.

Princess Amaya called one of her royal guards and asked.

"Have you investigated why the rock wall suddenly collapsed?"

"Princess, Vasquez is right with his speculation that the rock wall was intentionally blown up. We found traces of explosives in the area.

The young princess was not surprised at all. She thought of the possibility that she was the target of that explosion. The explosives were placed at the outer wall, so the intention was not to kill her but to capture her.

The timing of the explosion was very precise. It was as if eyes were watching them and knew their every move.

"It is the monkey." Princess Amaya exclaimed.

Several heads turned toward the princess.

Vasquez, who had spent difficult times with Princess Amaya in Mount Paraiso, understood what she was trying to say.

Vaquez glanced around before approaching the princess and whispered something.

Princess Amaya nodded.

"Captain, there are too many people here. Can you request that the rest leave first?"

The captain hesitated, but who was he to say no to the First Princess of Lireya? Even if the naval ship belonged to the Skylars, they were still in Lireyan territory.

In the end, only Princess Amaya, Vasquez, Dave, the captain, and the special forces who came along with Dave were left.

"The birds that we shoot down were drones. They might be equipped with transmitters and cameras." Vasquez shared his theory.

"I also saw a monkey on top of a boulder opposite me minutes before the rock wall caved in." Princess Amaya added. "I think I am their target. They might be from the same group as the one who attacked me in the train station."

"But what does that have to do with Luciano and his disappearance?" Dave asked.

It was the same question that Princess Amaya had.

"Luciano and I have the same blood time. AB RH-. Maybe they changed their target when Luciano saved me. Ang, that shadow in that picture looked dubious. What if it was also a robot that took Luciano away?"

"I had no idea that the First Princess of Lireya had such a vivid imagination," the captain chuckled, his tone laced with a hint of sarcasm despite his attempt at politeness.

In Uropa, the man with the black mask watched the monitor with interest.

"It looks like Luciano Zander is not simple. Look at the resources and manpower being wasted looking for him. No wonder we cannot find anything about him besides his name."

The General came inside the monitoring room.

"Your Majesty, Almighty Zeus; Luciano is now on our military plane and will reach Uropa tomorrow. We have learned of his true identity." The General approached Zeus carefully and passed him a white paper with a name written on it.

The masked man laughed loudly like he won a jackpot!
