Raised From The Wild-Chapter 321: Elevator Ride
Amaya and Donello advanced to the quarter-finals in both the mixed event and men’s division after successfully completing the elimination round of archery.
"Princess Amaya, congratulations on getting it past the elimination." A man with a deep voice spoke behind Amaya.
Amaya, who was putting away her archery equipment, looked back. She smiled when she came face to face with Prince Raquim.
"You are also here, Prince Raquim?" Amaya was surprised. Wasn’t he busy in Albania?
"I accompanied my brothers, and I would also like to show my support to the athletes of Albania. Fortunately, they also made it past the elimination round." Prince Raquim smiled, displaying his white teeth.
"Argo and Damien? Are they here? I didn’t see them in the field earlier." Amaya still remembered the young princes who danced with her during her 18th birthday.
"They had grown taller and grew some beard. You might not have recognized them. They returned to the hotel but will be at the gala dinner tonight. During the gala dinner, I hope I’ll have the honor of sharing a table with you, Amaya." Raquim said hopefully.
"Sure, why not? We can catch up. I’d like to see photos of your nephew. Tamara is so selfish. She only shared one photo of Daniel. She said I should visit her to see my godson."
Princess Tamara, the younger sister of Prince Raquim of Albania, was one of Amaya’s first good friends. She married a duke a year ago and gave birth to a son ten months later.
When Prince Raquim learned that Princess Amaya was participating in the ’Battle of the Titans,’ he joined the Albanian delegation even if his father disagreed. He liked Princess Amaya the first time he set his eyes on her. He had wanted her to be her princess consort, but at that time, she was in love with the man who brought her back from that island. When he learned that Marx Skylar had gone missing in the sea near Legunes, he joined the Albanian delegation.
Princess Amaya was one of the special guests when his sister got married. She stayed in the Palace of Albania for a week, and Prince Raquim tried hard to woo her. However, Princess Amaya was dead-set on rejecting him, so he decided to change his tactic. Befriending Princess Amaya first became his priority because he noticed that the more he pursued her, the more distant she became.
"Princess Amaya, there is a complaint filed against you, and you are being called to the disciplinary office." a sports official interrupted their conversation.
Both Raquim and Amaya looked at the school official.
"I’ll go with you, Princess." Prince Raquim offered.
Amaya contemplated for a while. Julienne went home to her family, and she would spend her nights there, leaving Princess Amaya to be on her own.
Prince Raquim’s lips curled up. He walked alongside Amaya, and they followed the school official to the discipline office.
The school official did not go inside but gestured for the two to go inside.
Prince Amaya hesitated, so Prince Raquim knocked.
When there was no answer, after waiting for a full minute, Prince Raquim pushed the door only to be met by two pairs of cold eyes.
Amaya paused. ’Wasn’t he the man she bumped into in the morning?’
"Good afternoon." Prince Raquim greeted politely. "We were told that someone filed a complaint against Princess Amaya, so we are here."
"Indeed!" A man in his early thirties scrutinized Amaya. ’No matter how he looked at her, he did not find any problem with her clothes. How did Mr. Charles Gray think that she looked like a vixen?’
The man fiddled with the remote control, and a recording of the earlier event was soon shown on screen.
Amaya and Raquim watched and saw a big crowd gathered. Amaya thought the video was boring, but the camera focused on the two athletes to her left and right.
"Did you know those two young men ranked the lowest in the raking because they could not take their eyes off you?" The school official said.
Amaya was speechless. How was that her fault?
Raquim glanced at the golden nameplate at the table. "Mr. Brown, I was in the ground earlier. I saw a lot of women wearing more skimpy clothing than her..."
"It doesn’t matter how revealing their clothes are. It is the fact that nobody was gawking at them while Princess Amaya had caused a distraction with the way she dressed." Charles Gray cut him in.
Prince Raquim: "..."
Princess Amaya thought the school officials were making a mountain out of a molehill. "I understand. Anyway, tomorrow is the elimination round for the equestrian, so I will wear pants. If there is nothing else, we will get going."
Prince Raquim escorted Princess Amaya out of the room.
Charles Gray, with a gloomy expression, pursed his lips into a thin line as they watched the duo’s back disappear from his sight.
...
That evening, all the athletes from different countries gathered at the banquet hall of Hotel Amore. Coincidentally, this was the hotel where Princess Amaya, the young Prince Donello, and the rest of the athletes from Lireya were billeted.
Princess Amaya was wearing a simple yet elegant sleeveless one-shoulder sequin cocktail dress. She wanted to stay low-key and not draw attention to herself.
Prince Donello waited for her in the corridor. As their floor was on the highest level, they were expecting the only people in the elevator, but when the door opened, there were already two people in it.
Amaya stepped forward and briefly met the gray eyes of the tall man around 1.8 meters tall.
’It is him again. Why do I keep bumping into this man? Why do I feel this sense of familiarity?’ Amaya thought to herself. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"They were riding in silence. Amaya was looking at her cellphone, reading messages that Ren and Ava had sent. Suddenly, she felt as though she was being watched. She lifted her head and found herself looking at the elevator wall, which was made entirely of a mirror."
The man was staring at Amaya, but looked away when she caught him.
The elevator door opened. It was on the 33rd floor. A displeased look appeard on Charles Gray’s face.
