Chapter 314: The Calm Before The Storm

When darkness fell upon the village, Princess Amaya and Luciano finished discussing plans for their trip to the waterfall. The air was filled with a symphony of nocturnal animal sounds.

Luciano helped Princess Amaya descend from the treehouse and said, "Follow me. I want to show you something." He led her to a nearby hill on the village’s eastern side. Using a rectangular flashlight, half the size of his palm, he illuminated their path.

A few dark shadows followed from behind discreetly.

Princess Amaya asked Luciano where they were headed and expressed concern that people might worry if they missed dinner.

"Don’t worry, they will not look for us," Luciano replied confidently.

When they reached a plateau at the top of the hill, Luciano placed the flashlight on the ground. It illuminated the surrounding area.

Luciano reached into his backpack and took out a flat, rectangular package. He placed it on the ground and pressed the red button on the side.

Princess Amaya watched with curiosity as the package unfolded, growing bigger and forming a tent with a dome that was about two meters high.

"Amazing!" She exclaimed. "How did it get inflated without a pump?"

"There is a mechanism inside that suctions the air surrounding it," Luciano explained.

The tent reflected the color of its surroundings, making it easy to miss.

Luciano gestured for the Princess to enter the tent. He lifted the flap covering the door.

Princess Amaya followed Luciano’s lead and obediently removed her shoes before entering the tent barefoot. She was fascinated by the design of the tent and wondered how it could be compressed into such a small size and what mechanism caused it to transform into a dome.

"You don’t need to worry about things that are trivial, Aya. We’re on a date now," said Marx as he removed his mask and spoke in his natural voice.

Princess Amaya blushed.

Marx crouched on the right side of the dome and he pressed a discreet button on the floor. As a result, a rectangular table emerged from the ground and started to rise. The table grew up to thirty centimeters in height, and similar to the dome tent, it was inflated by air. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

He took two food boxes and two fruit juices from his backpack and handed one of the boxes, along with wooden cutlery, to Amaya.

Marx and Amaya sat on the floor of the tent and opened the food boxes. As Amaya looked up, she was momentarily dazed by the spectacle she saw beyond the transparent canopy of the dome. There was no moon, so the millions of stars dotting the night sky were dazzling.

Amaya felt warmth in her heart. She felt that this was the most romantic dinner that they had.

"Why did you choose this place for dinner?" Amaya asked, her cheeks turning red. Marx could barely make out the color of her face since it was night.

"I missed having private time with you. The disadvantage of being Luciano is that you are very near me, yet so far," Marx said in a deep and magnetic voice.

The food box contained Amaya’s favorite: fried chicken, grilled fish, and some greens. After finishing their meal, Marx pressed a button on his watch; within two minutes, someone appeared outside the tent.

Marx collected the food boxes and then walked toward the tent’s entrance. As he reached there, a man extended his hand to receive the food boxes. Amaya noticed that the same man also handed over a bottle of wine, two wine glasses, and a single-stemmed rose to Marx.

When he returned, he pressed a button on the floor, and the table released some air, deflated, and became part of the floor.

Marx sat beside Amaya and handed her the rose. Princess Amaya brought it near her nose and smelled it.

"It smells good," then she turned and looked at Marx.

"I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes." Marx’s voice became even more profound. It was obvious that he was trying to control his desire.

Amaya closed her eyes. Marx turned off the flashlight, engulfing the dome in darkness.

After two minutes, Marx whispered. "You can now open your eyes."

Princess Amaya opened her eyes and cried in delight at the sight that greeted her: their tent was surrounded by thousands of fireflies.

"How did you attract all these fireflies?" Princess Amaya asked, amazed by the beauty before her. She had seen fireflies in Miraga before, but never in such large numbers.

"I dispensed a scent that could attract fireflies." Marx patiently explained.

Amaya was so delighted that she rested her head on Marx’s chest. Marx ran his finger through her hair as he enjoyed the refreshing scent of her hair.

At the village, some people who happened to be outside their houses saw the phenomenon on top of the hill. They were familiar with fireflies, but it was the first time that they had seen so many of them concentrated in one place. They rushed to the hill to take a closer look but were stopped by burly men in black. They could only go back and watch from a distance.

After a few minutes, the fireflies disappeared.

Marx turned on the flashlight and passed a glass of wine to Amaya.

"This is just a fruit wine with 4% alcohol. You will not get drunk."

Amaya laughed. She raised her glass and toasted Marx.

"To us! To a stronger bond and a happy future!" Amaya clinked glasses with Marx and downed the entire glass of wine. The taste was sweet and refreshing.

She gazed at Marx with her misty eyes, her lips red and moist from the fruit wine..

Marx swallowed. He lost control and lowered his lips to capture hers.

Amaya turned her head.

"What are you doing? There are people outside." Amaya was horrified that people could see them from inside the tent.

"Don’t worry; they will not see us. The tent is like a one-way mirror. People outside will not see us, but we can see them."

Marx turned off the flashlight. Then he started kissing Amaya passionately without restraint.

"I love you, Aya. I want to make you mine..."
