Raised From The Wild-Chapter 287: Protecting Her
"I thought I saw Marx Skylar just now. Am I wrong?" Stephane asked Amaya.
He saw the three of them exited the private room but Nathalia said something to him and when he looked again, he only saw Princess Amaya talking with the student council president.
"Yes, Professor Gray. We met someone over lunch." Amaya answered nonchalantly. She glanced at the entrance but Marx wasn’t back yet.
"Don’t be too formal with me when we are outside. You can just call me Stephane just like before." He looked at Amaya expectantly.
"Alright. I’ll take note of that."
"Would you like to have some dessert and drinks?" Stephane signaled for a waiter to come.
"No need, Stephane. I am so full. Thank you." Amaya declined politely. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Nathalia was fretting at the attention that Stephane was giving Amaya.
"Princess, we are discussing the concert and trip to the village. Are you sure you don’t want to perform? You can sing just one song."
Amaya smiled at the student council president. She really admired his persistence.
"I am sorry Council President. I don’t have time to practice." Amaya sounded regretful.
Nathalia snickered. "Lionel, the princess is very busy. Her time is precious. How could she waste it on a fundraising concert?" She said sarcastically.
"Thank you for speaking up for me Professor Nathalia." Amaya thanked her sincerely.
Nathalia was speechless.
Lionel, the student council president glanced at the princess. His gaze was complicated.
Stephane cleared his throat and looked at Nathalia coldly. ’How could she insult Princess Amaya?
"Anyway, I’ll ask for a donation from Marx and Dave. I am pretty sure they would be happy to donate for such a cause."
"Thank you, Princess. I am pretty sure the residents of the village will be very happy." Lionel said with a gleeful expression.
"By the way, have you finalized our itinerary?" Amaya asked. She needed to submit the schedule to her guards otherwise she would not be permitted to go.
"It is still being finalized, Princess."
"What is the name of the village and the place?"
"The village is called Lagunes in the town of Zaragosa, South of the Capital District." Lionel shared the information with Princess Amaya.
Princess Amaya noted the place. She glanced at her watch and frowned when Marx had not come back yet.
"Interesting watch, you got there, Princess." Stephane looked at her watch with a keen interest. "Where did you buy that?"
Amaya glanced at her wrist briefly.
"Oh, this is a gift to me from Marx." She said matter-of-factly.
The other people around the table also looked at the watch on Princess Amaya’s wrist.
"Ugly!" Nathalia smirked.
Stephane looked at her sharply.
"What? I am telling the truth. It is too bulky for a watch. It does not look elegant at all." She said without giving a face to the princess. "It doesn’t even have a brand."
"Perhaps, it is customized Professor Nathalia? The bezel looked like it is made from high-grade tungsten." Stephane’s piercing gaze warned Nathalia.
"Hmp. No matter what. It is still an ugly watch." Nathalia hurrumped.
"Well, it serves its purpose. Besides, I like it. It doesn’t matter what other people think of it. What matters is I like it." Princess Amaya’s words were tactful but Lionel winced knowing that it was intended to slap Nathalia.
Nathalia’s face turned ugly.
Amaya checked the time. She frowned when Marx did not come back even after a long time.
She looked around and noticed her guards were standing at a safe distance. She was about to send a message to the lead guard when she saw Marx enter the restaurant.
He looked around. Amaya raised her hand and waved at him.
Nathalia snorted. "How childish!"
Nathalia looked at the entrance and was enthralled when she saw a tall man with an imposing aura walking confidently toward their table. He was wearing a white short-sleeved polo shirt and black denim. The top button was left unbuttoned. His hair was black but it was obvious that his original hair color was blond as new growth could be seen when he tried to sweep away a strand that fell on his forehead and covered his right eye.
Marx’s gaze landed briefly on Nathalia. His gaze turned cold when he saw that she was looking at him like he was a piece of meat that she wanted to swallow.
Marx and Stephane’s gazes met. The room suddenly turned cold. The people sitting around the table could feel the animosity between the two men.
Amaya cleared her throat.
"Marx, you already know Professor Gray, right? This is Professor Nathalia Pracela, and that’s Lionel, the President of our Student Council." Amaya swept the other people who all stood up to greet the newcomer with her gaze. She was embarrassed because she could not remember their names. She turned to Lionel for help and fortunately, he understood the Princess’ predicament.
Lionel introduced the seven other people. They were all officers of the student council.
"Everyone, this is Marx Skylar, the CEO of the Skylar Conglomerate." Lionel introduced proudly.
"Sorry to interrupt. I am no longer the CEO of the Skylar Conglomerate. My eldest brother is the current CEO." Marx did not like the way he was introduced.
Nathalia’s expression changed from a happy and excited one to indifference. The change did not escape the eyes of Marx. He snickered.
Amaya shifted her gaze to Marx when she heard him laugh faintly. She raised an eyebrow silently questioning Marx why he gave out a scornful laugh.
Marx’s gaze turned gentle and doting when he faced Amaya.
Stephane who observed everything had a contemplating look on his face. Does Marx have feelings for the Princess? The way he looked at her was similar to that of a love-struck teenager.
’Interesting.’ Stephane mumbled. His gaze inadvertently locked on the watch that Marx was wearing.
"So it is a couple’s watch," Stephane said gloomily.
"What do you mean, Professor Gray?" Amaya asked.
"Are you pretending to be an idiot? Don’t you understand the word couple?
Nathalia has been waiting for an opportunity to malign the princess and the time has come.
"Watch your word, Miss Pracela. The person you are disrespecting is the First Princess of Lireya."
