Raised From The Wild-Chapter 286: Discovery At Lunch
Major Garces raised his brows. He glanced at Marx briefly before shifting his gaze to the princess who was eating with gusto while listening to him.
"Then, you should also know that your Daddy Ibrahim was the fearless Dragon Lord that defeated a lot of mercenaries and martial arts practitioners guarding the lair of the Dark Phoenix?"
"What?" Amaya dropped her spoon and fork. She had her full attention on Major Garces.
The Major glanced at Marx. Based on Princess Amaya’s reaction, she didn’t know about Dragon Lord.
"Daddy is Dragon Lord?" Amaya asked in surprise. She turned to Marx’s direction and waited for his confirmation.
"Yes, he was. I did not tell you because it wasn’t time yet. I supposed it is the correct time now that Major Garces let it slip."
"Do you know Daddy’s identity?" Amaya wondered if Major Garces knew that Ibrahim was a prince.
"At first, I did not know. When we were in the military school, your father kept a low profile and he tried to change his appearance. But I am keen on details and noticed that he has the eyes of the Rocas." Major Garces glanced at Amaya briefly. "The same eyes as yours."
Amaya who was about to gobble up her fried chicken, looked up and met the meaningful look of the major.
"I guess, Major Rocas needed an outlet and so I became his confidant. I admired his character. He did not have even a minuscule of envy for his twin brother. I guess he loathed being royalty because when I teased him about it, he would always get back at me and make me do a hundred push-ups during training."
Amaya could not help but give out a chuckle.
"But one day, he came back a different person. I never saw him so sad and so hurt. I asked him about it but he kept mum. When I investigated, I learned later that the woman he loved dearly was married to his twin brother."
A trace of sadness appeared on the dignified man’s face. It was apparent how deep a friendship he had with Ibrahim Rocas.
"He volunteered to lead ’Operation Dawn,’ with the goal to crack down Operation Unicorn."
Amaya stopped eating and focused her attention on General Garces.
"Your Daddy Ibrahim was fearless. He has no regard for his life at all. He dedicated it to the military. Operation Unicorn was a perilous mission. Many of our men lost their lives to gather intel. I almost lost mine but your father saved me." Major Garces looked up to the sky as if he was thanking someone up there.
"Operation Dawn was a bitter-sweet victory. We won but lost many of our comrades in the process. "Your father was promoted to Major that time while I became a Lieutenant. Then, he boarded that plane to Usturia to personally hand a piece of important information to General Jones who had only the rank of a Major at that time."
"Did you investigate the cause of the crash? Were those terrorists from the Dark Phoenix?" Marx butted in. He has long speculated that the crash from twenty years ago was not as simple as it looked.
"Yes, they were sacrificial lambs of the Dark Phoenix. Other than Ibrahim, there were five other people who were on a secret mission on that plane. They were all carrying highly classified information about the Dark Phoenix."
Amaya’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"How cruel can they be to involve so many innocent people?"
"Those people don’t have a conscience at all, Aya." It was Marx who answered her.
Major Garces looked down at his plate. Unknowingly, he has finished the food on it. He pressed a button under the table and the waiter appeared on the door.
"You can serve the dessert now."
The waiter nodded politely. He was back in five minutes with a tray containing the desserts that Amaya ordered.
Marx asked for black coffee while Major Garces ordered chamomile tea.
They were silent during the dessert. Princess Amaya was enjoying her dessert that Major Garces did not find it in his heart to spoil it.
When they were done with their food, the major pulled out a metal case the size of a carry-on luggage.
"These are your father’s belongings. I kept them as mementos of an idol, a great friend, and a mentor."
"Then, why are you giving this to me?" Amaya was confused.
"You are the daughter of Ibrahim. You deserve to have his things more than me. I think some of the items can be placed in his museum."
Princess Amaya stood and approached Major Garces. She raised her hand, palm facing down, and placed her forefinger slightly to the right of her eye.
"Thank you for your consideration and generosity, Major Garces."
Major Garces was flustered when he saw the Princess giving him a salute. He waved his hand in a gesture to stop her from doing it.
"You are a brave soldier of Lireya. Of course, you deserve this." Amaya said with respect.
Marx settled the bill. The three of them exited the private room and were leaving the restaurant when someone called Amaya.
"Princess Amaya."
Amaya turned her head and was surprised to see her classmates eating in the open area of the restaurant. Professor Stephane Gray and Professor Nathalia Pracela were with them.
Stephane’s and Amaya’s eyes met briefly before he looked away and said something to Nathalia who smiled sweetly at him.
Marx frowned when he saw Stephane cast a glance at Amaya but ignored him. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Major Garces bid them goodbye as he has other appointments to attend.
"I’ll send him off first and come back for you." Marx whispered to Amaya before walking away with the Major, tugging the silver luggage that Major Garces gave her.
A spirited young man approached Amaya excitedly.
"Princess, how about you join us? We are discussing the plans for next week’s trip to the village." It was the student council president.
"I have some things to do but I can come and say hi." She gave him a smile and followed him to a ten-seater table at the north corner of the restaurant’s open area.
Professor Stephane stood and pulled the empty chair beside him. Nathalia’s gaze turned daggers as Amaya sat down calmly beside Stepane Gray.
