Raised From The Wild-Chapter 282: The Labyrinth
Marx led the two people to the control room. The table that supported the keyboards and a few monitors was semi-circular in shape and there were three seats. The monitors suspended on metal brackets were also arranged in a semi-circular pattern so the three people sitting on the chair would have a clear view of the screens.
Amaya was surprised to see that there was no one in the control room. Marx seemed to read her thoughts.
"This is a fully intelligent control center. You can manage everything remotely. There is a computer in your room connected to this control room. You can also access this from your cellphone. When you have persons that you can fully trust then you can have them man this control center."
"This control center can send a distress signal to the Lireyan Security Department. All the cameras covering the perimeter walls and the palace gardens except the secret garden and the Fairy’s Pool can also send images to the department."
"Is it Grandpa who made this arrangement?" Amaya knew it was King Duncan, but she wanted to confirm.
Marx nodded. He glanced at his wristwatch to check the time and he remembered something.
He took a small box covered in black velvet from the pocket of his jacket and handed it to Amaya.
"What is this?" Her right eyebrow arched as she looked at Marx.
Marx laughed lightly. He did not know that Amaya could raise just one eyebrow. She looked very cute.
"Open it."
Amaya lifted the lid of the box and she gasped when she saw what was inside.
"It is a watch." Amaya’s gaze unconsciously landed on Marx’s left wrist where he wore his watch.
The one inside the box was smaller and the color was silver, unlike that of Marx which was black and the size was was bigger.
Marx removed the watch from the box and placed it on her left wrist. His movement was very gentle.
"It looked great on your hand, Aya." Marx flipped the cover and pressed a tiny black button at the lower bezel of the watch.
A blue light appeared from the device and radiated upwards, and a square screen was formed.
’Doing a full body scan,’ a voice similar to Marx was heard from Amaya’s watch. At the same time, a hologram of Amaya appeared on the blue screen. A red line appeared indicating the progress of the scan.
’25% completed.’ the voice started the countdown.
’Obtaining fingerprints and palm prints.’
’50% completed’
’Obtaining facial ID and facial features.
’75% complete.’
’Obtaining retina scan and brain scan.’
’100% complete. Congratulations! The owner has been recognized. Binding Twixtzar TZ202 to the owner. Looking forward to working with you, Amaya Rocas, Princess of Lireya.’
Amaya was shocked. She could see an avatar resembling Marx on the blue screen. She looked at Marx with mouth wide open and full of question marks.
"This is the latest release of Twixtzar, a security device designed to be a virtual assistant. This can protect you and can do other things like scanning a person or an object in front of you."
"Marx, you are really biased. How come I don’t have something like that?" Dave looked disgruntled.
Marx took another box from his pocket and threw it to Dave.
Dave reached out his hand and caught the box mid-air.
"Ouch! How can you throw that with such force? My hand hurts so much" Dave grumbled like a child.
"Wear it and stop spouting nonsense. These are the most advanced of ourTwixtzars and there are only ten of these in the world.
Dave happily took out a black watch from the box and put it on his left wrist. He adjusted the titanium strap before snapping the lock in place. When he tapped the tiny black button, he felt the strap adjust itself to perfectly fit his wrist.
"Looks like this caused you millions, Marx." Dave blurted out gleefully as the scanning process started.
"Yeah. So you have to transfer ten million dollars to my account."
Dave looked at Marx in disappointment. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"I thought you were giving this as a gift to me."
"Your birthday is still six months from now."
Dave: "..."
Amaya watched the two grownups who were bickering with interest. She thought that it would be good if she had someone to bicker with while growing up. Unfortunately, she only had animals as her companion.
Marx walked away from Dave and went to sit on the chair in the middle. He beckoned Amaya to come near.
Dave also went forward and sat on the other chair, so the three of them were seated on the chairs with Marx at the center while Dave and Amaya were both on his sides.
Marx typed a series of commands on the keyboard. Amaya was mesmerized as he watched Marx’s slender fingers fly across the keyboard.
Soon, intricate lines that did not make sense to Amaya appeared on the screen. Some were crisscrossing each other while some just led to a dead end.
"A labyrinth!" Dave exclaimed.
"There is a door over there and it will lead this section here which is the starting point of the labyrinth. The other door outside will also lead to this escape route."
Amaya studied the complex pathways. She smiled when she found the escape route.
"So we go to the starting point and then follow this route and we will end up to the northern part of the island," Amaya said calmly as she traced the route with her finger.
"Oh my gosh, Amaya, how did you figure it out so soon?" Dave could not believe that Amaya was able to figure it out ahead of him.
"Of course! Amaya is a genius." Marx said with a hint of pride in his voice. "Unlike someone who is only good in science."
"Ouch, that hurts more than a punch on my face." Dave comically placed his right hand over his chest.
Amaya could not help but giggle because of Dave’s comical action.
Marx glared at Dave and that shut him up.
"Come, I’ll show you the labyrinth."
"How long did it take you to dig and complete this messy path?" Amaya was curious.
"This was completed in three months. We have the most advanced tools hence the speedy completion of the construction."
"Those workers that worked to complete the tunnel, can they be trusted? What if they sell us out?" Dave asked worriedly.
"They were under close supervision while working on the underground passages. When they were done, their memories were erased."
