Raised From The Wild-Chapter 146: Marriage Alliance
"My ... My Lady?" the guard stammered.
Zanzarra looked at him impatiently. "Are you dumb? I am asking you if I am beautiful or not."
"Of course you are beautiful, My lady. You are very beautiful." The guard said in the most sincere way possible. ’But the First Princess is far more beautiful than you.’ he added silently.
"Then, why didn’t he even look at me?"
The guard scratched his head and remained silent. He did not know how to answer her question.
Zanzara snorted then she entered the palace with a dejected look.
The guard heaved a sigh of relief. He went inside the blue Porche and brought it to the garage.
The following morning, Amaya went to school early. She was wearing a sports shorts and tight fitting shirt and these were appropriate for a steeplechase.
The event started very early in the morning. Previously she has watched videos and studied the rules and regulations for steeplechase. She learned that she needed to clear 28 fixed barriers and seven water jumps.
When Amaya thought about it, it should be a piece of cake for her because that was what she always did when racing with her friends. So when the referee provided the go signal to start, she was very relaxed. A few athletes were ahead of her but when they encountered the barriers, they slowed down considerably while Amaya continued her steady pace.
Three-quarters through the race, Amaya was the obvious winner. Her speed and strides were consistent. When the silver medalist arrived at the finish line, it has been some time that Amaya left to go to the gym where the championships for fencing will be held.
This time, Amaya was unlucky. Her opponent was a junior who became the champion when she was still a sophomore.
When her game was about to start, Amaya looked around and sure enough, Marx was sitting on the bleacher giving her an encouraging nod.
Amaya tuned out everything and she focused on the game. At the start the scores were even. Her opponent looked at her with surprise. She started attacking aggressively.
"Don’t think that just because you are the First Princess, I will be easy on you. Sorry, but I worked so hard on this. Even if you are my idol, I will not give up."
Amaya was amazed at how can she still talk when they were in the midst of fighting.
"I will be unhappy if you go easy on me."
The moment Amaya talked, her opponent attacked and she scored.
In the end, Amaya was defeated. Her opponent bow to her a few times and said. "I am happy that you joined this event. It became very lively. Sorry for defeating you just now.
"Congratulations! You are worthy of being called a champion. Amaya greeted her opponent respectfully. They both went back to their respective seats at the bleacher.
"Marx, I am done with my games. I need to go back to Asteria Palace as my Grandpa and my father asked me to. Are you free? Can we go now?"
Marx did not answer but he extended his hand and Amaya reached out to hold it, then she went down from the bleacher.
They exited the building and were walking side by side. Marx wanted to hold Amaya’s hand while walking but he resisted the urge. That time will come but for now, he must be very subtle and careful.
"Aya, something came up and I cannot accompany you home. I will see you tomorrow. Take care." Marx was disappointed but he needed to attend to an urgent matter.
"Don’t worry. I have my driver with me. You take care as well."
When Marx was gone, she took out her cell phone and reread the message from her father.
Ibarra: Come home early. There is an important guest and your presence is needed.’
On the way back, Amaya was still thinking about who could be the important guest and why she was needed.
When she arrived at the palace, she noted that the place was the same as when she left it earlier. It seemed that the important guest wasn’t that important at all. Or maybe he was just keeping a low profile.
She went to her room first and took a shower as she felt hot and sticky. Lilia readied her dress and she just took it from her. It was a chiffon off-white dress with blood-red flowerets sewn on the upper part of the bodice and on the waist. The skirt resembled a bell where it flared from the waist but fall in a straight line to the knee from the initial flare.
She paired her dress with low-heeled white sandals which made her feet look more dainty. Lilia dried her hair and placed a pair of dainty hairpins on one side.
"The King, the Crown Prince, and your cousins are waiting for you in the Jasmine Tea Room."
Amaya walked to the Tea Room leisurely. When she entered, she was surprised to see a tall handsome man in royal ensembles. His navy blue long-sleeved polo was decorated with a gold leaf pattern at the front.
’This man must definitely be royalty.’ Amaya thought to herself.
"Sit down, Amaya," the crown prince reminded her. She was thankful because she felt that if she did not sit down, her legs will give way.
"Now that all my granddaughters that are eligible to marry are here we can start the discussion." King Duncan started.
Amaya felt someone was staring at her. She glanced at the man with the brocade robe but his eyes were lowered and seemed to be studying the tea cup.
"My granddaughters, this is King Ralden from Ra-Iya. He is proposing a marriage alliance to you Amaya."
Amaya’s eyes widened. ’What is wrong with her grandfather? Was he blind? While the man was handsome, he looked like he was in his early thirties.
"Grandpa, it cannot be me. I have just arrived remember? I still want to explore Lireya and other places. Besides, I already found my mate."
