Chapter 145: The Third Wheel

In swimming, Amaya participated in two events only, the 100-meter freestyle and butterfly. She qualified in both. When she came out of the swimming pool, the gazes of the men who came to watch the tournament followed her.

Marx gritted his teeth. He hurriedly followed Amaya and draped his jacket over her.

Amaya turned around and thanked him. "Wait for me. I’ll just change."

Julienne who was left sitting at the bleacher looked at Marx with a smirk. She had researched about him but how come what she learned from her research was so far off from what she was seeing?

’Where is the cold and overbearing CEO that they are talking about? All I can see is a gentle, and doting husband material. Where are the cruelty and the ruthlessness?’

She saw Marx throw daggers at the few students who were gawking at Amaya. His gaze was so cold that the poor students cowered. She chuckled.

"I see now. So Marx is only gentle when it comes to Amaya."

It did not take long before Amaya came out of the restroom wearing her jeans and a yellow shirt. Julienne said goodbye to her. She did not want to follow them anymore as all the tournaments for the day were completed.

They came back to the sports club so Amaya can practice fencing. They practiced for two hours, then they left the sports club and Marx brought Amaya to an Usturian restaurant where Dave was already waiting for them.

Dave has booked a private room for the three of them. The waiter passed the menu to them. Marx recommended a few Usturian specialties to Amaya.

"I got the result of the study made on the spider. Its body has a special hormone that promotes growth. The side effect of the hormone however is that it caused the subject to become aggressive."

Amaya glanced at Marx. "Do you think that the military has completed their investigation of what happened at Mount Ibra?"

Marx used his own network to investigate. However, his men have not come back to report to him yet.

"Aya, you can ask your grandfather and father. However, it is a matter of national security so they might not tell you."

"Who could be so cruel to use the animals as a weapon?" Amaya lamented.

Marx and Dave looked at her at the same time.

"Other terrorist organizations even use biological weapons. It is the scariest as the extent of harm it can do to humans and the environment is unimaginable."

"Biological?" Amaya frowned. She took her cell phone and search for it. After reading, she shivered.

"How can humans be so cruel?" She cannot imagine why someone would create such a weapon to harm others and that some human beings are more brutal than animals when dealing with their enemies.

Marx was getting concerned about Amaya. He hoped that this pure angel would not be disenchanted as she learned to understand the greedy and power-hungry nature of humans.

"How are the three pups and Khalil? I am so busy I did not have time to visit them." She changed the topic.

"Khalil recovered fast. The pups are growing by the day." Dave said proudly.

"I promised Yohan I’ll give him a pup and I’ll give the other two to Grandpa Earl."

Dave looked dejected. "Why don’t I get one?"

"Do you like one? How about you wait until Strata got pregnant?"

"O yeah! That’s a good idea."

They stopped talking when the waiter served them their food. Marx kept on adding food to Amaya’s plate until she cannot take it anymore.

"Do you want me to get fat?"

Marx was dumbfounded. Did he put too much food on her plate? He did not think so.

"If you are full then you can stop eating."

Amaya wanted to get back to Marx so she also added food to his plate.

Dave cleared his throat. "Are both of you intentionally showing off to me?"

Marx and Amaya looked at Dave at the same time. They wore an innocent look in their eyes.

Marx sent off Amaya back to Asteria Palace.

"Would you like to come inside?" Amaya asked as she remained seated on the car.

"Not anymore. Do rest early. You have more games tomorrow right?"

Amaya nodded. "Take care on your way back."

Marx leaned closer and kissed her on the cheeks. Her face reddened. Marx laughed. He caressed her left cheek that has become as red as a tomato then his hand move down to her chin. He lifted it and lowered his lips and covered hers. He nibbled at her upper lip.

Amaya’s heart raced. She felt that it would jump out of her chest. Marx released her lips and brushed them lightly with his thumb. He bent forward and removed her seatbelt. He opened the door and get off from the car and walked towards the other side of the car. He opened the door and held it for Amaya.

"Off you go, Princess! Don’t look at me with that eyes or else I will not let you go."

Amaya was still blushing. She got out of the car and with hurried steps, she left the car. She was fleeing from Marx.

Marx had a silly smile on his face. He was about to get inside the car when a blue Porche stopped beside him.

"Marx, you are here. Amaya did not invite you in?" Zanzarra took a few steps forward and stood beside Marx.

"I have some things to do so I did not go in," Marx said coldly.

Zanzarra wanted to say some more but Marx already went inside the car and closed the door. The car revved up and left a gust of smoke. Zanzarra coughed. She clenched her fist as she cursed Amaya under her breath. She threw her car key to the guard on duty then she stomped her feet and angrily went inside Asteria palace.

"Hey you, am I not beautiful?"

The guard who was about to get inside her car to take it to the parking was shocked. ’What does the lady mean?’ He was shocked and felt so nervous that he licked his lips with his tongue.
