Raised From The Wild-Chapter 144: A Good Gift
The arrow curved upward and when everyone thought that it will go beyond the target and hit the tree, the tip of the arrow was lodged in the middle ring. She tried a second time and she hit the target.
Amaya smiled at Marx. "This is very good. Thank you, Marx."
The corner of Marx’s lips curled up. His heart warmed. They headed to the stadium where the championship tournament would be. The athletes were grouped according to their age bracket. Julienne will be competing against Amaya and Samantha while Danella was in a different group.
There were many people seated on the bleacher. Students were closely monitoring the events that the First Princess would participate and they would go there to watch. Amaya has earned a considerable number of fans.
When they saw Amaya’s unique outfit, many people took her photos. Her short skirt, vest, and boots were made of alligator skin. She wore a white tank top under her vest. A strand of her front hair was braided, tied around her head, and fastened at the back with a black rubber band. The rest of her slightly wavy hair was left to hang freely on her back and the side of her shoulders. They shone like copper when the light of the sun hit them.
"Bro, if I can date her even just for a day, then I will be the happiest man alive."
"Same here Bro. Princess Amaya is so beautiful. She looks cute in her attire."
Two junior students who were sitting beside Marx were happily chatting with one another when they suddenly feel the surrounding temperature drop. They felt as if someone was looking at them with killing intent.
They looked at the fair-skinned foreigner who was sitting with the aura of a king just beside them. They cannot withstand the icy glare so they stood and move farther away.
A student official who was in charge of archery approached Amaya and handed her a bow and quiver of arrows. "Princess, this is the one that you used yesterday. I thought you would like to use this again so I kept it for you."
Amaya accepted the equipment and politely thanked the student. She checked the bow and the arrows. She frowned when she noticed that there is something wrong with the bow. She picked one arrow from the quiver and aimed for the target. She was allowed to shoot at least two arrows as practice.
The arrow flew straight ahead but shifted to the right when it was near the target. Amaya hit the outermost ring. She confirmed that there was something wrong with the bow.
She looked for the student who passed the bow and quiver of arrows to her but she could no longer find her.
Amaya returned the bow and arrow to another student official. "Somebody gave this to me a while ago. She said that this is the one I used yesterday, however, I already have my own and no longer needed this.
The tournament officially started. While the other participants were very nervous, Amaya was very calm.
She put the arrow in the bow, aimed, and then released. She took another one and released it without blinking. She repeated the same process until she has no more arrows to release.
Big monitors were placed around the stadium so those who were far away could watch the games clearly.
The audience was amazed by the way Amaya threw her arrows. A camera actually focused on her face while she was releasing the arrow. She was swift and accurate.
The camera focused on her result. During the qualifying rounds yesterday, one could still see a small circle of vacant space inside the target. But currently, the tip of the arrows were all hitting the bullseye and they formed a very neat circle of black iron.
The audience was wide-eyed. If someone could hit exactly the same spot then she must be the goddess.
Marx who was undoubtedly listening to the gossip smirked. Of course, his princess can even do more outstanding things.
Amaya completed the event half the time and so she went to sit beside Marx. She watched as her siblings shoot their arrows. Her eyebrows furrowed. Donello looked awkward in his posture.
When Donello finished all six arrows. he intended to silently leave. He felt dejected because two of his arrows hit the outside ring.
"Hey, Don, how about you join us here and watch other participants?"
Don was reluctant but eventually, he complied and sat beside his sister. Marx exuded a certain degree of iciness but Don did not notice at all. He was sulking because he knew he performed poorly.
"There is something wrong with your posture little brother. Your body is slightly leaning to the right, hence you cannot hit the bullseye." Amaya spoke to the gloomy prince gently. She patted his head and tried to comfort him.
Marx on the other hand was not happy. Amaya’s attention was on Donello and he was ignored.
"Really. I did not notice that. So that’s what my coach meant when he said that my posture is wrong. Thank you, sister."
"I can show you at the training ground if you have time." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Donello nodded. He excused himself saying that his classmates were waiting for him. He glanced sideways at Marx with a disapproving look and left.
’What is that man doing with my sister? Is he going to take my sister away from us? Hmmmp. I’ll try to find ways to make things difficult for him so he will not steal Sister Amaya from us.
Julienne was finally done with the event and was approaching them wearing a meaningful smile. "Princess, I heard Samantha cursing. She said something about not using the provided bow and arrow to you."
"It looks like she was the mastermind. Someone did provide me with the bow and arrow. She said it was from yesterday. I tested it and found something is wrong so I placed it beside the referee."
Julienne laughed. "So she wanted you to lose? But in the end, she was the one that lost. Her performance is worse than mine. I scored higher than her. I heard her scolding her lackey. She left her bow and arrow at home and did not have time to fetch it. So she asked for a bow and arrow that were provided for this tournament. She picked up the one that was tampered."
Marx sitting on the side could no longer keep to himself. So, are you saying that Samantha is trying to harm Amaya?"
Julienne was not sure how to answer Marx. "That’s what I think, but I might be wrong as sometimes she is also good to Amaya."
Marx was thinking while looking at Amaya. Just by her look, he knew that Samanta would harm her.
"Hey, it is about time for the qualifying round for swimming."
Marx’s eyes darkened for a moment. But when Amaya turned back to say something to him, his eyes looked like his usual self.
Julienne led the way. The swimming pool was in the other building and it will take them 10 minutes to reach the place.
Amaya went directly to the changing room and changed into a swimsuit. When she went out of the room she was surprised to see that there were many people already stationed in the lower boxes of the stadium.
Marx was really unhappy seeing that many people were attracted to Amaya. Was he jealous? But he has every reason to be jealous.
Soon, the athletes were called to go to the starting line. The distance from where Amaya was seated and the starting line, was quite far and Amaya has to walk a long time before reaching her destination.
The gazes of the male students who came to watch their princess were full of admiration and adoration. But there were those who also looked at her with lust.
Marx sighed. He wanted to hide Amaya away from these lecherous gazes. He was afraid that very soon, Amaya will lose her innocence and as much as possible, Marx wanted to shield her but what can he do? If he can keep her inside his pocket then that’s what he would do, but of course, he cannot do that.
The referee gave the go signal and the athletes started their swim. Amaya looked very relaxed as if she was just simply swimming. But when she was halfway, she increased her speed. Even Marx was surprised at how fast she could swim. He thought again, it shouldn’t be surprising because she lived very near the sea. It was even more difficult to swim there because of the waves.
He remembered the first time he saw her swimming in the sea. She was wearing her arm guard. Her undergarment was made from snakeskin. Her waist-length hair was more curly because it was wet and sticking close to her body. She was a sight to behold! It was some of the moments that Marx kept in his heart.
