Chapter 113: Sleeping Together

Amaya shifted and turned her body away from Marx, her back was facing him.

Marx moved closer to her and sniffed her hair. He liked the floral scent of her hair. He run his hand through her hair and he liked the silky softness of it. He wanted to hug her and nestle her on his chest but he was afraid that he would wake her up. He just contented himself with snuggling close to her. His hands were slightly clenched on his side.

Amaya woke up at dawn. She turned on to her side and found herself face to face with Marx. He was sleeping deeply. He looked very relaxed. The bonfire outside gave off a crackling sound as fire consumed the logs and the branches.

Amaya studied Marx’s face in the flickering light. She could not see clearly but she could feel his hot breath on her face.

She suddenly felt the urge to touch his face. She lifted her hand tentatively touch his head then caressed the side of his face with the back of her hand. She swept away the hair that covered part of his forehead.

Marx opened his eyes and Amaya found herself staring into two deep gray orbs. His ocean blue eyes looked gray due to the dim light. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Amaya heard drums rolling in her ears. Was it from her hammering heart or was it Marx’s?

They held each other’s gaze for a long time. Marx was losing his control. He wanted to pin her down and claim her lips until she could no longer breathe. He wanted to hold her tight and mold her body into his. He was about to kiss her when he heard footsteps outside the tent and he was reminded that there were other people around.

"Let us go back to sleep. It is still dark outside." He said with a hoarse voice. He covered Amaya’s eyes with his big palm so she could got to sleep.

Amaya shifted and was lying on her back. She closed her eyes and after sometime she was into dream land.

Marx propped himself on his elbow then he bent down and pressed his lips on her forehead. He lay back and closed his eyes.

When Amaya woke up again it was slightly bright outside. She was alone in the tent. She tidied up the sleeping bag, finger combed her hair and went out of the tent.

She looked at the place where the wolf died last night. There were traces of blood on the soil but the wolf was no longer there. She looked around for the wolf’s skin and it was laid on a top of a rock.

"Good morning, Princess." Enrico greeted her. He was holding two sticks with two fishes on them and was preparing to cook them.

I caught four medium sized fish. I hope the others can catch more so there is enough for everyone.

Amaya cut a small but long branch. It was as thick as her thumb. She used her knife to sharpen the tip. She went to the stream and speared one big fish. She cut off the portion with the fish, gave it to Enrico. She sharpened the tip again and was preparing to go back to the stream when she saw Dave came out of his tent.

"Hey Amaya, can I try?" Dave rushed to her side.

"Sure Dave," she gave him her wooden spear. Dave happily accepted and went to the stream.

Amaya selected another branch and cut it. They still need five more fishes.

She went to the spot which was around five meters away from Dave. In no time she caught four more. The wooden spear which was originally two meters long was reduced to the length of a twelve inches ruler.

"You haven’t caught any fish yet?" Amaya spoke softly but Dave was startled that he jumped on his feet.

"Hey, you scared the fish." Dave blurted out as he watched the fish swim away.

"Why did you not use your spear? You are just holding it. Definitely you will not be able to catch anything."

Dave cursed. He watched another fish approach him. He hesitated then he struck the fish with the spear.

"I got it, finally!" Dave shouted in excitement.

Amaya giggled . "Look at your spear first before declaring that you got it."

Dave was embarrassed and his face reddened like a beet.

Marx emerged from the trees and was carrying a bunch of banana and some wild berries.

"Marx come over here and catch some fish." Dave waved the spear in front of him.

Marx snorted. He put down the things he was carrying on top of a makeshift table which was a huge rock with a flattened surface.

He removed his shoes and rolled up the hem of his pants and waded toward Amaya and Dave. Dave passed to him the spear.

Marx looked for his target and when the target was near, he thrust the long spear into the water. There was a splashing sound and when Marx lifted the wooden spear, there was a big fish on it.

Dave’s mouth was agape. Amaya cannot help but laugh. "Good catch, Marx."

Like Amaya, Marx cut off the portion with the fish. He sharpened the tip of the stick and handed it back to Dave.

"You should catch at least one fish. You need to thrust the spear and not just watch the fish." There was a hint of mockery in Marx’s voice which made Dave even more driven to catch the fish.

Marx and Amaya handed the fish they caught to Enrico who happily took them. Earlier, while watching Dave catch fish, Amaya already removed the gut of the fish.

Amaya went inside the tent and took out a towel, her change of clothes and toiletries.

"Are you going to bathe?" Marx asked gently.

"Yes. I might not have a chance later. She answered perfunctory.

Marx also went to the tent and get some of his stuff. When he went out of the tent, Amaya was already gone.

He was about to follow Amaya when he heard a shout!"
