Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 564_1
Hansen Ruiz said, "Darling, I’m sorry. It’s my fault. Everything happened so suddenly and was out of our control. The situation was too tricky, so Glades and I had to handle it together." He certainly hadn’t wanted to miss hearing he was going to be a father. Though he was happy when he received the call, it still wasn’t the same as hearing the news in person.
"I just... Hansen, I’m not blaming you," Rachel Bailey said, a little flustered. She wasn’t accusing him. She felt too much heartache for him to even consider it; she definitely didn’t mean to criticize.
With a soft peck on her lips and a tender stroke on her small face, Hansen Ruiz spoke softly, "I know."
"Your mother came again," Rachel said.
"She didn’t give you a hard time, did she?" Hansen Ruiz asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he scrutinized her. His gaze, however, became sharp, not missing any expression on Rachel’s face. If there was even a hint of hesitation, he would immediately drag his mother out and send her back home. This was his and Rachel’s little home, not the Ruiz Family’s. His mother, as the mistress of the Ruiz Family, should return to the Ruiz Family home instead of always disturbing their private world.
"No," Rachel answered without hesitation. Her mother-in-law was acerbic, domineering, and overbearing, but she wasn’t a pushover and wouldn’t let her mother-in-law take advantage of her.
"I’ve already arranged for Floyd Thomas to send Mother home first thing in the morning," Hansen said, pulling her back onto the large bed. His hand rested carefully on Rachel’s flat belly. His treasure, growing inside her right now. He couldn’t imagine how a little life was formed.
"Hansen..." Rachel began.
"Don’t say anything more," Hansen interrupted gently. "I know what I’m doing."
Rachel Bailey pouted but said no more.
The morning sun rose from the east, heralding a new day, and the Horne Family villa began to stir from its slumber.
Everyone was busy with their own affairs, unaware that Glades Horne had already returned. He had rushed back the previous night on a private plane with Hansen Ruiz, unaccompanied by his bodyguards. The others from the business trip were only scheduled to return to T City today. He hadn’t even alerted the servants, using his own key to let himself in quietly.
Julia was the first to awaken. Seeing the man she had missed for seven days lying beside her, she smiled happily. She had been so worried that everything from the previous night was just a dream.
Perhaps due to exhaustion, Glades was still sleeping soundly. In his sleep, he lacked his usual arrogance, looking more like a handsome, tranquil deity.
"Glades, sleep well today. I’m going downstairs to prepare breakfast for you. Your wife will cook for you personally," Julia whispered into his ear. Then, she gently kissed his cheek before softly getting out of bed.
After changing and freshening up, she tiptoed out of the room.
The servants had already prepared her breakfast.
With a light smile, she walked downstairs and headed straight for the kitchen. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Madam, what would you like to eat? I’ll have someone make it for you," the housekeeper asked, seeing Julia go straight into the kitchen.
"Julia, take a look at the breakfast we’ve prepared for you first," the grandmother said, taking off her reading glasses and placing the newspaper back on the coffee table, smiling kindly. "If you don’t like it, tell us what you want, and we’ll make it for you."
Julia stopped, turned her head, and smiled happily. "Grandma, no need. I’ll make it myself. Whatever I cook, he’ll love it." Then she turned and continued toward the kitchen.
The grandmother and housekeeper exchanged glances. Him? Who was ’him’? They both noticed that Julia was radiant today, exuding an aura of bliss. True, Julia had always been very happy. However, since Glades left on his business trip, even though she kept busy during the day to avoid thinking about him, everyone knew she was lovesick. Her mood simply couldn’t compare to when Glades was home. Today, however, she seemed to have returned to her old self.
"Housekeeper, I’m getting old, maybe my ears aren’t working well," the grandmother suddenly exclaimed in a low, dramatic voice, grabbing the housekeeper’s hand tightly. "I thought I heard Julia mention ’him.’ Who is this ’him’? And Julia’s expression... well, it’s as if she’s been nourished by love, eh? Housekeeper! Julia isn’t re-enacting a modern version of a ghostly romance, is she?"
"Madam, you’re overthinking it," the housekeeper said, amused by the grandmother’s reaction. "Perhaps the Young Master has returned. Madam, please sit here. I’ll go check if the Young Master’s car is here and ask around." A ghostly romance? Only the old madam could come up with something like that, the housekeeper thought with a smile.
The housekeeper turned and walked outside.
After a little while, she returned at a brisk pace.
"Well? Has Glades returned?" the grandmother asked.
The housekeeper shook her head.
"That is odd," the grandmother mused.
"Grandma, what’s odd?" James Horne asked curiously, having just come downstairs in time to hear her.
The grandmother didn’t answer, simply pointing towards the kitchen, signaling James to go see for himself.
James was extremely skeptical. What on earth was their grandmother, as cunning and sly as an old fox, plotting this time?
In the kitchen, Julia Bluen wore an apron, preparing the Western-style breakfast Glades liked. She was in a particularly good mood, a faint smile playing on her lips as she hummed softly to herself. The servants still in the kitchen looked at her, puzzled.
Julia hummed old love songs, one after another: *"You ask me how deeply I love you, how much I love you, my feelings are true... The moon represents my heart." "I really miss you..." "I’ll fall asleep pillowed on your name..."*
This was the scene James witnessed: Julia bustling in the kitchen, humming her songs, her face alight with a happy smile. He was so captivated he nearly lost himself in the moment.
