Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 565_1
He had never seen Julia like this before. And the only person who could make her like this was his dear older brother. But my older brother has been away on a business trip and hasn’t returned. So how could she... Could it be that he’s back?
"Young Madam, if you’d like a change of taste, we’ll prepare a Western breakfast for you tomorrow," a servant suggested, trying to strike up a conversation while watching the busy Julia.
"No, these are all for Glades," Julia said with a sweet smile.
"The Eldest Young Master? Has Mr. Horne returned?"
"Yes, he came back last night. Oh, don’t you all know?" Julia only then belatedly realized that no one else was aware of Glades Horne’s return.
Standing outside, James Horne heard this exchange and smiled bitterly. He knew it. The only person who could make her this happy was his older brother.
Turning around, he had come quietly and left just as quietly.
A while later, Julia carried the freshly made Western nutritious breakfast to the dining table, placing it in Glades’s usual seat. Then, she took off her apron and went upstairs to wake him up.
In the room, Glades was still sound asleep. He was truly exhausted; last night was the most comfortable and peaceful sleep he had had all week.
Julia walked in, saw that he was still asleep, and sat on the edge of the bed, pushing him gently with her hand as she called out, "Glades, time for breakfast."
Glades didn’t move; his eyes were still tightly shut.
Is he sleeping that deeply?
Julia pushed him a little harder and raised her voice a few decibels.
But he continued to sleep.
Feeling that something was amiss, Julia quickly reached out to touch his forehead. His temperature was normal.
So he really is still deep in sleep?
Julia stopped pushing and calling him. She stared blankly at his handsome face, Should I let him continue sleeping, or keep trying to wake him?
"I’ll let you sleep a little longer. The breakfast I made can be eaten by someone else," Julia murmured to herself.
This man, he’s playing tricks on me again! He’s clearly awake but pretending to be asleep, and he’s so convincing! No matter how I pushed or called him, he didn’t react.
"You took advantage of me while I was asleep, so of course, I have to get my due now that I’m awake," Glades said, gazing at her teasingly.
"Aren’t you asking for too much?" Julia laughed.
"I’m a businessman, you know. Businessmen don’t do losing deals. Of course, I have to reclaim it with principal and interest, then compound interest, and even more interest on that!"
"You really are a ruthless merchant."
"And you’re the ruthless merchant’s wife."
"How did you come back last night? No one knew about your return."
"Of course, I came back by plane, and then... if I said I climbed over the wall to get in, would you believe me?"
"No. If you could climb walls, the sun would rise in the west," Julia said, clearly not believing him. He has keys to every door in this house; why would he need to climb the wall?
"My wife knows me best."
"Alright, stop your teasing. Get up and shave. You look ten years older with that beard," Julia said, brushing his hand away. She moved from his body to sit back on the edge of the bed, smiling at the stubble on his chin. At thirty-three, he was very particular about his appearance. He was always impeccably handsome and shaved almost daily, so his face was always clean-shaven. In his own words, he had to keep her completely mesmerized with his dashing looks.
When he was with her, this man was like a completely different person.
"Give me a good morning kiss, and I’ll get up," Glades resorted to his roguish charm.
"One business trip and you’ve practically changed your surname!" Julia said, laughing as she pulled him up from the bed.
"What surname did I change? If I ever really changed it, I’d only change it to Bluen. I’d be called Glades Bluen Horne."
At that, Julia burst into laughter.
"Alright, alright, the Bluen Family couldn’t possibly afford to take in a ’great personage’ like you. Stop fooling around and go freshen up. Breakfast is getting cold," Julia said, standing up to get his clothes.
Glades, unhappy that she was leaving him, immediately jumped up and followed her. As she stood before the wardrobe choosing his clothes, he stuck to her back like a piece of candy, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. "Julia," he requested, "I want to wear the clothes you gave me."
"You seem to wear only those two outfits all the time," Julia remarked, a little slow on the uptake.
"Because you gave them to me, I always want to wear them."
Julia paused for a second, smiled, and said no more.
Since he loved wearing the clothes I gave him so much, I’ll buy him another eight or ten sets later. I can’t let him just rotate between two outfits; people outside would laugh at him.
A short while later, Glades finally stood before Julia, looking refreshed and revitalized.
Seeing his handsome face clean-shaven once more, Julia was finally satisfied and led him out of the room by the hand.
