Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 527 Different People, Different Loves (5)_1
In this age of rampant materialism and mistresses, men as devoted as the CEO, loving only their wives, are truly rare.
On his way home, Glades Horne bought many fruits Julia loved and even stopped by the Flower Shop to buy a bouquet of roses. He intended to make Julia feel that even the days spent at home, resting and nurturing her pregnancy, were filled with sweetness.
When Glades Horne returned to the villa in the deepest part of the luxury residential area, he found its gate securely locked. There was no car in the garage, the Main House's door was also locked, and there wasn't the slightest sign of movement inside.
His eyebrows furrowed. Hasn't Julia arrived yet?
He checked the time; it was nearly twelve o'clock. She had asked him to return to their little home for lunch; by now, she should have been at home waiting for him.
He took out his phone and called Julia Bluen.
The call connected quickly. It rang for a while before Julia picked up.
"Glades, what's wrong?" Julia sounded busy. The moment she spoke, she asked what was wrong, apparently having completely forgotten she was supposed to be home waiting for her husband.
"Where are you?" Glades asked in a low voice.
"I'm at... um, I'm at home," Julia hesitated for a moment before answering.
Glades's eyebrows knitted. His keen ears picked up that it wasn't quiet around Julia; there was a sizzling sound, like something burning.
If she's at home, why would there be that kind of sound?
If she's not at home, then where is she?
After a moment's thought, Glades responded, "Hmm, I see. I'm hanging up now."
Then he instructed the Bodyguards to turn the car around and drive away. After about a hundred meters, he had them stop the car. He got out with the Bodyguards. Carrying large and small bags, they walked back to the villa's entrance. He took out his key, gently unlocked the villa's gate, and crept quietly into the Courtyard.
The Bodyguards were quite puzzled by his actions.
"Young Master..."
"SHH—" Glades gestured for silence, signaling the Bodyguards not to speak.
The Bodyguards immediately fell silent, not daring to ask any further questions.
Inside the house, in the kitchen, Julia Bluen stir-fried the last dish, intently listening for sounds from outside. When she heard the car driving away, a flash of disappointment crossed her almond-shaped eyes.
The vigor in her stir-frying lessened slightly.
All she wanted was to playfully tease Glades Horne, to give him a surprise.
Before he left, she had told him to return to their little home, that she'd be waiting. How could she possibly forget? She had left the Horne Family estate early and returned here to prepare lunch for him.
She had deliberately locked the villa's gate, had the Bodyguards drop her off and drive the car away, and intentionally locked the Main House's door—all to create the illusion that she wasn't there, hoping to surprise Glades.
But when Glades called, casually asked a question, then hung up and promptly drove away, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around her from behind.
"AAH!"
Thinking it was a thief—or worse, a lecherous one—Julia screamed. Spinning around, she forcefully swung the stir-frying spatula she was holding toward the intruder behind her.
"Darling, are you trying to murder your dear husband?" Glades Horne hadn't expected to scare her. As she reacted quickly, forcefully swinging the spatula at his head, he dodged, caught the spatula, and chuckled.
Hearing the familiar voice, Julia froze. Recognizing him, she chided, "Glades Horne, are you trying to scare me to death? I thought a creep broke in!"
"My home? What thief would dare enter?" Glades laughed, then quickly apologized. "Sorry for scaring you. Here, let me give you a kiss to calm your nerves."
Julia, still holding the spatula, protested, "Stop fooling around! The food's going to burn."
Glades chuckled softly.
Julia quickly turned and plated the last stir-fried dish. She had learned to cook, so her food wasn't just delicious; she arranged it on the plate as skillfully as a hotel chef, making it look extremely appetizing.
"Didn't you drive off?"
After setting the last dish on the dining table, she glanced at Glades.
Glades watched her intently, his words carrying a deeper meaning. "If my wife can surprise me, then naturally, I can surprise my wife too."
"That was a scare, not a surprise!"
Julia couldn't help but laugh as she playfully chided him again.
