Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 528 Ambiguous Message (1)_1
Sitting at the dining table, Julia only had to drag her chair back one meter to see everything in the kitchen. That was exactly what she did.
In the neat and clean kitchen, his proud silhouette, as tall and straight as a cypress, radiated arrogance and nobility. Yet, he was willing to step into the kitchen for her. The satisfaction this brought her had been in her heart for more than just a day or two. Still, every time she saw that silhouette, she couldn't suppress the emotions welling up inside her.
BEEP BEEP— Julia's cell phone notification chimed.
Averting her gaze from Glades, she took out her phone to check the message.
"Julia, it was love at first sight with you. I miss your scent so much, I'm crazy about you. When can we meet at our usual place again?"
An unfamiliar number. An unfamiliar and disturbingly intimate message met her eyes.
Immediately, her face darkened.
Whose number was this? Why would they send such an inappropriate message to her? What "usual place"? Other than Nicholas Coldwell, who else had she ever gone out with alone? Where could this "usual place" be? Could it be Nicholas? Hadn't Nicholas left T City? He'd visited her before he left, and judging by his expression, he seemed to have repented and genuinely wished her and Glades well. Would he still harass her? After Glades had put him in his place so thoroughly, would he dare? If it was Nicholas, she would despise him utterly.
He was the one who had betrayed and abandoned her. Then, after learning her true identity, he had harassed her relentlessly, claiming he realized she was the one he still loved. If he hadn't found out about her identity, would he still have pursued her so persistently? The answer, Julia believed, was no. Nicholas might have felt some love for her, but he loved money, status, and reputation far more. That was why, from the moment he married Diana Powell, she had completely given up on him. Breaking off the relationship had been painful, yes. But no matter how much it hurt, she knew she had to be decisive; otherwise, the pain would only deepen. She wasn't one to grieve over an unfaithful man for long. Indeed, it was this decisiveness that had led to her whirlwind marriage with Glades. Under his loving care, she had quickly emerged from the shadow of her past heartbreak to embrace true love.
Julia immediately deleted the message.
Whether it was Nicholas or not, she would have no further entanglement with him. She was Glades's wife now, with their baby on the way. That past relationship, which many of her family members didn't even know about, could just fade away like smoke in the wind.
Hearing her phone's notification again, Glades glanced at her. He saw her quickly tap something on the screen and, guessing she was deleting a message, asked casually, "Spam?"
"Yes."
In her mind, such messages were indeed spam.
BEEP BEEP... Julia had just deleted the message when another one arrived.
It was still that same number, but this time the message read, "Julia, I fall asleep with your name on my lips every night. I love you. Can we arrange to meet at our usual place again? Your charming oval face, beautiful almond-shaped eyes, your luscious lips, and your slender figure, I can't forget any of it."
Julia's expression darkened further. She cursed Nicholas Coldwell a thousand, ten thousand times in her heart!
"What's wrong?" Hearing the phone chime again, Glades turned his head once more. Seeing her expression darken, he immediately asked with concern, already striding quickly out of the kitchen.
Julia desperately wanted to delete this intimate and misleading message. But then a thought struck her: she hadn't done anything to betray Glades, so she had no reason to feel guilty. With that, she handed her phone to Glades, her voice tight with anger as she said, "I don't know who it is, but they keep sending me messages like this. I don't recognize the number."
