As soon as she saw the message, Rong Yue brows furrowed and she called Xu Ning back. The first time, the cell was unreachable and she tried a second time.

Xu Ning picked up this time.

"Xu Ning, what's the matter?" As she asked, she pulled out the small laptop from her bag switching it on so she could check her location from the call.

"Just a few minutes ago, my nieces came back without their brother, and I got a message on my phone that says that if I want him, I should prepare an exchange person," Xu Ning said amidst sobs.

Rong Yue's brows furrowed again as a trace of dissatisfaction crossed her face. Her fingers on the computer paused, and then she closed the page and started another program.

Qin Yichen glanced over at her worriedly and took the phone from her hands. He parked the car carefully and then used one hand to cover the phone speaker.

"I'll hold the phone; just hide your location first."

Upon hearing him, Rong Yue looked up at him in surprise, not expecting that he would have figured it out at the same time as her. She nodded and looked back at what she was doing.

"Why are you not saying anything?" Xu Ning asked from the other end of the call, her voice still filled with panic and tears. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"You have never told me anything about your family; how would I help you find someone that I have never seen? Xu Ning, are you trying to court me after you have dumped my brother?"

Rong Yue's voice was calm and didn't betray any emotions, making one unable to gauge what was going on in her mind.

The Xu Ning on the other end of the call also said nothing for a while before finally speaking.

"I thought that since I was in trouble, you were the only one I could call."

Rong Yue scoffed, "I only helped you with money the other time because you promised that my brother would never lay his eyes on you again."

"Don't call me again."

With that, Qin Yichen ended the call while Rong Yue's hands still kept flying fast on the screen. She shuffled between two programs for close to five minutes before she was done.

"Done?"

"Hmm, I think they managed to hack into her phone and wanted to test out the one contact that she kept there…." Rong Yue paused, remembering that Xu Ning had started working at a Qin Corporation branch in the capital here.

She would have some colleague's numbers and would also make calls to people that were collaborating with them.

"Maybe they wanted to call the one person that wasn't work-related," she finished, and Qin Yichen nodded in agreement.

"That number wouldn't connect to me anymore, and they also cannot draw any information from the call they made,"

Since she already told Xu Ning not to save her number on the phone, she knew that they didn't know her name, and she had been able to block them from tracing her. They didn't have a problem.

Qin Yichen started the car back. Even though he had many questions, he didn't ask anything. He was silently supporting her only when she needed it.

He knew that whoever it that was behind the Hong Foundation must have started to suspect that Xu Ning might have been involved in all of what happened and wanted to run some checks on her.

They would end up in a dead end eventually.

He remembered that Rong Yue had plans to let her start an entertainment company with her and warned.

"For your collaboration with Xu Ning, I think you shouldn't start with her. Perhaps, stage it in a way that seems like Xu Ning is the one that approached you."

Her tactics were not as deep and complicated as that of Qin Yichen since even in her previous life, she had spent very little time interacting or plotting with people.

Rong Yue nodded in understanding. The rest of the ride home was quiet. By the time they got back, Qin Heng had fallen asleep, and Qin Yichen had to carry him up into the mansion.

"Xiao Heng feels safer around you. He has never slept in a car or outside his bed before…." Qin Yichen said he left the remaining part of the sentence unsaid, but Rong Yue could complete it.

He had slept three to four times when they were outside.

Looking at his adorable face, Rong Yue's heart ached for him. Being born into a family like this was a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Looking at it from the outside, it would look like it was pretty endurable and a good thing.

But for those that had been born into it, it was a little difficult.

"Let me tuck him in," she offered and stretched her hands so he could pass him to her.

Qin Yichen hesitated for a second before moving Qin Heng to her open arm. With him leading the way, he stopped at the second floor where Qin Heng's room was.

He opened the door for Rong Yue and stepped aside.

Rong Yue placed Qin Heng in her lap and undressed him first.

She looked up at Qin Yichen, that was still standing by the door, "Don't just stand there. Bring a bowl and towel so I can wipe his body…."

"Also, bring a pair of warm pyjamas; it's getting colder recently,"

Qin Yichen's eyes deepened as he watched her fuss over his younger brother as though he was her brother. After a while, he entered the room and brought everything she needed.

Rong Yue wiped his body and then dressed him. While she was dressing him, Qin Heng stirred in her embrace and his eyes fluttered open a little.

Afraid that he would wake up and struggle to sleep back, Rong Yue massaged one of his acupuncture points and allowed him to fall into a deep sleep.

With the help of Qin Yichen, she tucked him into bed.
