Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Don’t You Want to Hold On to Me?

"Still, I must thank you for saving me a lot of trouble." Scarlett Shaw said earnestly.

With all of Ryan Ford’s previous antics, without Julian Ford holding him back, he would definitely dare to cause her grief at Veridian, perhaps even directly ruin her work and force her to beg him; it wasn’t impossible.

After Scarlett Shaw said this, Julian Ford gave her a faint glance.

His dark brows and eyes gave away no emotion.

Just as Scarlett was about to ask why he was downstairs at her building, Julian’s next words left her petrified, speechless on the spot.

His voice was calm, deliberate as he said, "Maybe you should thank your so-called ’boyfriend.’

Scarlett: "..."

?

???

Scarlett’s pupils shook, and the rebellious song that had been looping in Aaron Carson’s car suddenly echoed in her mind.

So Aaron, that dog,

was hinting at this!!!

Scarlett took a deep breath, forcing a smile, lowering herself, and with eyes full of emotion, she looked at Julian Ford and said, "Julian Ford, where do I have a boyfriend? Who I like now, you know the best."

Julian smiled, "Scarlett, don’t play dumb in front of me."

Scarlett: "..."

The farce with Aaron Carson was something Scarlett hadn’t thought that Julian Ford would find out about. Of course, there were many times when she concocted countless reasons to extricate herself in situations like this.

But now, despite her obvious submission earlier, Julian Ford remained indifferent.

It seems that excuses, passing the buck, or finding reasons are all in vain.

Scarlett recalled Aaron Carson once said that Julian Ford hated being lied to.

And that time he thought she lied, making her suffer the cold wind outside the club before tormenting her that night.

"Julian Ford." Scarlett took a step closer to Julian, deliberately narrowing the distance, reached out and tugged at his sleeve, "I was wrong about this, I’m sorry."

Julian looked at her unexpectedly, "No more trying to be clever and justifying it to me?"

Scarlett said honestly, "You hate being lied to, I naturally wouldn’t do that anymore."

Julian silently lowered his eyes, looking into hers.

They locked eyes, moonlight enchanting.

Scarlett’s heart trembled, her breath slightly held, her eyes sincere with apology, but also cautious with a hint of fear that he might be impenetrable.

Julian’s gaze swept over Scarlett’s face, down to the slender white fingers gently clutching his sleeve.

His gaze was icy, and Scarlett instinctively withdrew her hand, but as her fingertips pulled back, Julian’s larger hand clasped hers.

Her racing heartbeat suddenly quickened, and as Scarlett tried to pull away, Julian held on tighter, speaking softly, "Don’t you want to hold on to me?"

Scarlett froze, her struggle instinctively stopping.

"What?"

Julian took her hand, intertwining their fingers naturally, placing them inside his coat pocket.

Warmth enveloped her.

Holding hands, for Scarlett and Julian, who once had a physical relationship, was even more unfamiliar than their past encounters.

The touch of palms, physically less intimate than that act, but psychologically utterly different.

Scarlett was stupefied.

She wanted to shake off Julian’s hand, but was greedy, enamored by the feeling of being tightly held by him.

So she could only put on a false front, speaking insincerely, "Julian Ford, let go of me."

Julian, however, held tighter.

But, his expression remained calm as he said, "Scarlett, can’t you guess why I’m suddenly looking for you?"

"How would I know."

There was a strange sensation in her heart, as if each word from Julian was about to bring it all out.

She restrained the panic, her fear of being disappointed again, pretending to be indifferent as she said, "You’re always so unpredictable, with a bad temper, impulsive, and shameless, who knows if you’re here to pick a fight, it surely couldn’t be for romance, right?"

"Yeah."

Julian’s single cold word was like a snowstorm in Scarlett’s heart.

She paused, her first reaction was to raise her other hand, tentatively pressing it to Julian’s forehead, "Are you sick?"

Julian arched a brow, holding her wrist with a dignified demeanor, "Why, no confidence in yourself, think it’s impossible?"

Scarlett: "You really never doubt yourself; it’s my lack of faith in you, alright?"

Julian pressed her against the car door, looking down into her eyes, "Where’s the lack of confidence."

Scarlett: "Though I have no evidence, I can reasonably suspect your purpose in saying this is that act."

Last time on his birthday when he kissed her, this man was already showing signs.

No guarantee he isn’t thinking along those lines.

When Julian heard this, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, and after a few seconds of thought, he admitted, "I won’t deny, I have those thoughts."

"Then you should find someone else."

This dog of a man, before he was openly shameless.

Now he’s learned to disguise his intentions.

Scarlett felt a lump in her throat, pulled her hand back, pushing him away.

Quickly, Julian grabbed her, as his gaze fell on her face, he noticed the faint blush at her eyes’ corners, suggesting she was trying hard to restrain her emotions.

"Scarlett."

Julian looked into her eyes, his thumb brushing her palm with a soothing intent, his voice unprecedentedly patient:

"If I didn’t like you, do you think I’d mention dating?"

Scarlett was stunned, as if time froze, it took a while before she spoke, "What did you say?"

Julian raised an eyebrow, lifting a hand to pinch her earlobe, red for who knows how long, "Want to trick me into saying those two words again?"

Scarlett: "..."

He had seen right through her.

Truly a sly fox.

Julian was exceptionally patient tonight, and when Scarlett fell silent again, he asked once more, "Dating?"

Julian, with his cold demeanor and venomous tongue.

But he loathed lying.

Which meant his confession of liking, and his admission of wanting that act, were true.

Scarlett’s eyes focused, meeting his gaze, she replied firmly, "No."

Julian paused.

Scarlett: "Do you think because I like you, I won’t refuse you, Julian Ford, you’re not sincere at all, why would I date you."

Julian was silent, thinking for two seconds, "Can I interpret this as you want me to pursue you?"

Scarlett’s face heated up.

Again, he saw right through her.

Julian’s lips curled into a slight smile, his handsome face still calm, but his eyes, carried an intrigued look, "As you wish, Scarlett."

Scarlett’s pupils widened. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Julian lightly patted her arm, speaking gently, "Go home and rest, goodnight."
