Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 74: Labor ()

Neveah and Alpha Dane walked through the woods, making the trip back to the pack house in comfortable silence as they did after every morning of training, both lost in their own thoughts.

The scenery of the forest was beautiful as snow trickled down to join the mass of it’s kind which had formed a thick layer over the ground.

As Neveah moved, her boots dug into the thick layer of snow, however she did not feel the cold at all, her boots were made from thick leather and especially prepared for the winter season and the cold weather.

It had been another day of strenuous training in the clearing and they had begun at the crack of dawn as they always did, despite the freezing weather.

Alpha Dane was a man who demanded consistency and resilience from those he trained and Neveah did not mind rising at early hours, she had been the one to request Alpha Dane’s training and so she could not slack off.

Not even if the snow got up to her knees, their training carried on till the day light dawned completely and though they would usually train for longer hours, the snow prevented them.

Every day going back and forth from the clearing was spent in such peace and serenity, providing Neveah the time to sort through her thoughts out in the middle of nature.

Neveah had always been a solitary person and she did not favor speaking much, hence of all the Eclipse Hunt wolves, she found Alpha Dane and Vincent’s company much more suitable to her since they were quite like her.

Though Neveah adored Luna Colleen’s energetic nature, but Luna Colleen would always force words out of Neveah, never letting her have a moment of silence while in her presence.

She did not like to see Neveah quiet and always felt Neveah’s silence meant she was dissatisfied with something whereas Neveah was just someone who did not speak much.

Coping with Luna Colleen’s bright personality was difficult for Neveah but she would not deny the fact that she did enjoy Luna Colleen’s company and always found herself with a smile.

It was a refreshing difference from what she was used to and a welcome one even as she did not leave Eclipse Fang only to continue living in the restricted way she had been.

Dechlan was much the same or even worse than Luna Colleen, he was a complete prankster and one could never tell what mischief he was up to, causing havoc all across the pack.

Neveah found Dechlan’s company hilarious and annoying wolf had grown on her, other than these four, Neveah had also taken a liking to a few other Eclipse Hunt wolves.

Beta Denver’s daughter was just about Neveah’s age and was extremely energetic and hyperactive but she was an interesting company and then there was the Gamma of the pack who was a stubborn but mischievous young man who loved fighting.

The past months had been a vast difference from Neveah’s time in the Eclipse Palace and though Neveah knew she would have to leave the Eclipse Hunt soon, the months spent here had been fulfilling.

Neveah’s eyes had been opened to what life truly looked like and she was willing to admit again that all along, she had not been living at all.

Even when she did leave Eclipse Hunt, Neveah was glad she had not turned her back on Luna Colleen and had decided to come to Eclipse Hunt.

As they walked, Alpha Dane suddenly froze up in his step and Neveah passed him a glance to see his eyes were glazed over, communicating through the mindlink.

When Alpha Dane regained focus, Neveah raised a brow at his wide eyed look and she was even more shocked when Alpha Dane grabbed her hand and pulled her with him, dashing through the woods in a different direction from the pack house.

Neveah hurried to keep up as she glared at Alpha Dane.

"Just what is going on?!" Neveah asked.

"Leen... Leen has begun her labors!" Alpha Dane revealed in a panicked rush as he doubled his step, their movement becoming a blur.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, Neveah did not ask anymore questions as she kept up the pace with Alpha Dane.

It did not take too long before they arrived back at the pack hospital where Vincent anxiously waited outside.

"Veah! Quickly, quickly!" Vincent called out in a panic and Neveah hurried into the pack house, taking off her coat and following Vincent down the hall.

The moment Neveah stepped into the pack house, she could already hear Luna Colleen’s pained screams long before she arrived at the ward.

Dechlan anxiously paced outside and the moment he caught sight of Neveah and Alpha Dane, he hurried to meet them.

"How is she?!" Alpha Dane demanded in a panicked tone and Dechlan shook his head.

"She won’t let any of the doctors or omega healers go near her! She keeps calling for Veah." Dechlan reported and Alpha Dane turned to Neveah.

He did not need to say anything, Neveah already understood his worries, he had lost so many pups before this, he could not bear to loose another.

"They will be fine, let’s go in first." Neveah said as she strode past Dechlan.

Neveah burst into the room, glancing around at the team of doctors and midwives all of whom stood some distance from Luna Colleen.

Luna Colleen clutched her abdomen, a fierce glare fixed on the doctors despite the pain of contractions.

"Don’t come any closer! Stay back!" Luna Colleen snarled, her eyes glowing which revealed the presence of her wolf.

Her wolf had risen to the surface in a bid to protect their pups and she would not acknowledge anyone but those she trusted.

"Get me Veah! I don’t want anyone of you!" Luna Colleen screamed.

The poor doctors looked alarmed and helpless as they all suffered the effects of Saffy’s betrayal, ever since Saffy was imprisoned, Luna Colleen would not even hear of a pack doctor.

Neveah sighed as she hurried over to Luna Colleen’s side, freezing in her step when Luna Colleen growled fiercely.

Neveah lifted both hands up immediately to show she meant no harm.

"It’s me... it’s Veah..." Neveah said slowly knowing Luna Colleen’s wolf was on the surface and would not be as friendly as Luna Colleen was.

Neveah passed a glare to Alpha Dane who was momentarily frozen at the sight of his disheveled mate and only then did he recall his purpose for being present in the ward in the first place.

Alpha Dane hurried over to Luna Colleen, he was the only one who walked all the way up to her and sat at her side without getting growled at or warned off.

Luna Colleen’s wolf could still recognize their mate and so it was only expected.

Alpha Dane took Luna Colleen’s hand in his before gesturing to Veah.

"Leen... calm down, Veah is here... that’s Veah..." Alpha Dane reminded and it was only then Luna Colleen’s eyes widened and she reached her free hand for Veah whilst fighting the painful contractions.

"Veah! Come... come." Luna Colleen called quickly and Neveah walked over to her side, taking her other hand.

"Veah...my pups, tell me they will be fine...tell me they will all be fine." Luna Colleen pleaded.

Neveah pursed her lips, she had done all she could to prepare for this moment, she had kept Luna Colleen and her pups safe as best as she could.

But when it came down to this moment, it was all dependent on the Creator...who could live was not something Neveah could decide, if she could... she would not have died so pathetically in her previous lifetime.

"Leen... I cannot deliver you myself, you need to let the doctors and omega healers handle it." Neveah reasoned.

Neveah may have learnt a lot of things out of necessity but she had never assisted with a woman in labor before, she did not know how this worked and in this case, an ignorant person was a greater danger than untrusted experts.

"But...but they..." Luna Colleen tried to argue but was cut off as another pained scream ripped out of her throat.

"I will be here and so will Dane. If anyone tries to harm you or even acts suspiciously, we will get rid of them immediately." Neveah assured as she turned to the healers and nodded her permission to approach.

Luna Colleen panted heavily as she tried to fight the pain even as the pack doctors hurriedly prepared her for the birthing process.

Neveah sat calmly at Luna Colleen’s side, holding onto her hand as the pack doctors went about their business and soon everything was appropriately set up.

Neveah sucked in a deep breath, Luna Colleen’s pups had not grown to be born in Neveah’s previous lifetime but it would be different now, perhaps after this, Neveah’s fate would begin to see some true changes_.
