Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 73: Change in Season ()
Neveah stood calmly in the field of white snow that covered the surface of the forest for as far as the eye could see, this was the new scenery all around the Eclipse Hunt Pack and far beyond as a change in season had come.
The change in season was long awaited and the entire Eclipse Hunt had prepared long for it.
The hustle and bustle towards the end of the season, the harvest, storage of grains and the beginning of a new season had been tasking on all but with this new season came a much calmer and more relaxed atmosphere.
Neveah’s hands were clasped behind her back and her fur coat fluttered in the wind behind her, there was a calm but deadly aura exuded from her as she stared ahead, her eyes covered with a blindfold.
Winter had now arrived and the snow fell down rapidly, sticking to her hair and clothing, leaving behind a freezing chill as they melted into liquid.
Though the snow was freezing cold and the winds were even colder, Neveah barely took note of them as she stared ahead, the blindfold blocking off her view completely.
Her golden tresses cascaded down her back and down to her waist and despite the chilling weather, Neveah was dressed in her usual white tunic and a pair of leather breeches, her coat being the only protection from the cold.
Neveah did not actually need the coat, she had only worn it for formality sake and it was even becoming heavy and bothersome to her.
Had it not been for Luna Colleen’s insistence, Neveah would not bother with the fur coat at all, it was just unnecessary burden.
As an Alpha King wolf, her resistance to the cold weather was naturally far greater than that of any other wolf and all her abilities only developed, as time passed she and her wolf both also grew stronger.
As Neveah stood there, Alpha Dane circled around her in a slow and predatory manner, seeking for an opening to attack, an opening he would never find.
Neveah’s steady countenance did not falter, there was only the slightest twitch in her brows as she relied solely on her senses to pick up on Alpha Dane’s movement.
Alpha Dane’s footsteps were barely audible in the snow, his feet was light and swift and so he was difficult to track yet for Neveah, it was only a matter of being more focused.
Neveah felt Alpha Dane’s presence behind her and she heard his movement, his boot digging into the snow when he lunged.
In a swift moment, Neveah spun out of the way, easily escaping Alpha Dane’s attack and before he could regain his direction, Neveah lunged.
Neveah’s attacks were swift and agile, never remaining in one position for too long to give Alpha Dane the opportunity to suppress her with his greater strength.
Neveah knew her own strengths and weaknesses and she had battled with Alpha Dane for long enough to be familiar with his as well and so for every move he made, it had already become easy for Neveah to anticipate it.
They battled for a time, Neveah relying on her speed to overcome Alpha Dane’s strength as she forced him to retreat backwards, landing hits and powerful kicks.
Neveah had learnt to dance from the moment she could walk properly, her father had ensured she had mastered every graceful act that could make her the perfect Eclipse princess from dancing to all kinds of musical instruments.
In her younger days, when she had difficulty mastering it, she had been forced to dance till her feet were sore and play various instruments till her fingers bled, all to make her the perfect woman to every man.
Neveah could be coquettish if it was needed, she could be seductive when that was what her target preferred, she could be wise if a wise woman was most loved and she could be a woman of art if that was the most suited.
In all these, her fighting skills had merged with her dance skills making her rely mostly on foot work and speed.
Her legs were her most powerful limbs, more so than her fists and her fighting technique was a series of kicks and movement techniques that made her twice as fast as she would normally be.
Every step she took was light and agile, her movement was a blur and every attack she made was precise and powerful, each strike deadlier than the former.
Neveah leaped into the air and launched a powerful kick, landing on a single leg with the other stretched backwards, her balance was still perfect as she allowed Alpha Dane a moment to recover his footing before she attacked again.
She could perfectly tell his position even if she could not see him, with her senses as sharp as they were, she did not need to see.
It did not take too long for Neveah to send Alpha Dane crashing down to the snow again with a powerful kick and she took off her blindfold, staring down at her leg, her brow slightly raised.
"That was a little more force than I intended." Neveah murmured in a low tone as she strode over to Alpha Dane who lay in the snow and refused to get back up.
Neveah was momentarily worried till she saw he was completely fine and was intentionally lying there.
"If this was sometime ago...you would tell me...’let’s go again.’ I see you are getting old and weary." Neveah said in a pointed tone.
"Enough, enough..." Alpha Dane grunted out as Neveah stood over him, gazing down at him with a raised brow.
Five months had gone by in a flash since Lucas Varleston had found his mate, Meira and half a year since Neveah had arrived the Eclipse Hunt Pack.
In the past months, many events had happened but for most of the time, Neveah had been uninvolved and had spent her days getting familiar with the Eclipse Hunt Pack and training.
After the first four months of intensive training, Neveah had finally gotten the better of Alpha Dane, overpowering him without the help of her wolf.
She had learnt to rely on her speed and agility as compared to strength in which she could not and would never match up to Alpha Dane.
Although Neveah knew she had only managed to catch Alpha Dane off guard this time, it was without a doubt that in the past month and a half, Neveah’s human form had grown in strength and stamina.
Neveah could now run great distances without the aid of her wolf and she could easily overpower Vincent and Dechlan without the aid of her wolf too.
Of course, Vincent, Dechlan and Alpha Dane also did not make use of their wolf strength or abilities which leveled the playing field to just one human against another.
In the past six months, Neveah had practiced relentlessly, she had not given herself a moment of reprieve even when she felt as though her body would give up.
There had been many days she collapsed in exhaustion and had to be carried back home by a begrudging Vincent who always insisted a woman did not need to be so obsessed with fighting.
Of course, his opinion would never influence Neveah’s decision, Neveah had learned the hard way that only those who were strong could protect themselves from harm.
Neveah was born with an Alpha King wolf, this was true but when it came down to it, she and her wolf were both young and did not have much experience in fighting.
Faced off against another Alpha King wolf with greater fighting skills who had been trained in battles from his youth, Neveah had accepted the fact that she would not stand a chance.
And all who had it out for Neveah were amongst the most powerful wolf shifters of the Eclipse Domain, none of them could be taken for granted.
Was it Lado? Beta Horace? Alessio? Or the Alpha King himself? Who amongst them were easily defeated?
Vincent and the Eclipse Hunt Pack believed they could protect Neveah, they wanted her to live in luxury and without worries even in their pack, she understood their sentiments and she was grateful for their concern.
But the fact remained, they only had a slight inclination of what she had been through in the Eclipse Palace,
They did not know it all and so they could not fully understand that if her father or Alessio set their mind to it, the Eclipse Hunt was hardly an obstacle.
Neveah had only herself to rely on, she would not be unprepared in the day where strength alone would decide the difference between who lived and who died.
"Why? Do I not get any accolades for finally besting you?" Neveah asked with a smirk as she stretched a hand down to Alpha Dane.
"What is with that look on your face? I did not look this smug when I constantly bested you." Alpha Dane grumbled begrudgingly as he took Neveah’s outstretched hand.
"That is just your ego making you see things that are not there, besides...you should let go of past glory now." Neveah advised, chuckling when Alpha Dane huffed indignantly and stormed ahead of her.
