Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 709: All For You ()

"Beloved...open your eyes, let me see you..." A familiar voice whispered, the sound stirring Neveah awake.

"Hush girl...I am here...you know where to find me..." The second reassured in a slow drawl.

"Jian?...Xenon?..." Neveah called out loud as her eyes snapped open.

Her mind still felt foggy and Neveah quickly glanced around, but her heart sank in disappointment when her search came up empty and she was still all by herself in a small room from a time so far back in her memory...or perhaps this had always been her reality.

’I fell asleep?’ Neveah thought in disapproval.

Her body still ached terribly and Neveah guessed the pain had driven her to sleep when she should have been keeping watch, but even now, it did not feel like she had healed even a little bit.

Neveah’s thoughts were caught off when she heard a shuffle from a dark corner in the room, her eyes snapped up to meet a pair of forest green eyes and Neveah shirked back on her bed.

’Alessio was here...how had she missed him?’ Neveah wondered in dismay.

Those forest green orbs were fixed on Neveah, they seemed to have been for a long while even when he had been camouflaged by the shadows and those eyes did not look pleased.

"How did you get in? I locked the door." Neveah accused, her gaze narrowed in displeasure.

Alessio did not respond, for a moment, he did not even acknowledge Neveah’s question, until he flashed a bright smile.

"Watching you sleep calms me in ways nothing else can...you are most beautiful when you sleep, devoid of the cares and worries of the world." Alessio said, his tone was doting.

Neveah frowned slightly, Alessio had heard her call out the names and was clearly displeased by it, Neveah had sensed his displeasure like a prickle on her skin, warning of greater damage to be dealt,

But suddenly he was back to being this strange, unfamiliar version of himself and Neveah had to wonder if she had even sensed it right in the first place.

"I want to be alone, I would appreciate it if you announced yourself before invading my space." Neveah replied with displeasure.

"Invading?..." Alessio asked in disbelief.

"I am your mate..." Alessio reminded, somehow able to maintain a calm approach which was completely unlike him.

Neveah did not respond, she instead turned away from Alessio. This difference in personality was too stark and too terrifying, the best Neveah could do was not acknowledging him.

"What can I do?" Alessio asked, his tone though low was entwined with pain and hurt.

"What can I do to get your mind back with me...where it should always have been?" Alessio asked again.

"I will do anything for you, Omega... I will do everything." Alessio vowed solemnly.

His footsteps retreated from the room and only when the door was shut did Neveah turn over.

"Open your eyes...you know where to find me..." Neveah mused over the words that had stirred her awake.

For some reason, it sounded to Neveah like there was something she was missing and Neveah turned over restlessly on the bed, as she mused over it.

"You know where to find me..." Neveah murmured again.

Neveah had no way of figuring out exactly what was even happening, all she knew for certain was that it had something to do with the dark sorcerer, so how could she know?

Neveah got up to her feet as it dawned on her.

"I first met both Xenon and Jian in the woods... could that be the way to break this spell?" Neveah murmured.

She quickly threw on an outer robe and made her way out.

Making it out of the adjacent palace was easier but now that Neveah was out in the courtyard, she kept her movements soundless and stealthy, as much as was possible in her condition.

Neveah still recalled the guard placement and patrol schedule all around the Eclipse Palace, she had escaped into the woods enough times to have figured that out and Neveah was counting on the fact that it had not changed in this reality.

A short walk in the woods and Neveah picked up on voices heading her way, Neveah quickly hid behind a tree, narrowly escaping sighting by a patrol group.

’Without my wolf, I can only sense them when it is almost too late.’ Neveah thought in dismay, but she pressed on.

Neveah soon arrived at the first location in her memory. It was the tree she had been sitting against when she had first encountered Xenon...or at least, it was meant to be.

At this moment, the tree was non-existent. Neveah was certain she recalled the place correctly but there was no tree, instead there was a strange ripple in the air that was faintly visible.

Neveah reached out a hand to the ripple and a sharp burning pain rushed up her arm the very moment her fingers made contact with it,

Neveah withdrew her hand in a hurry, hissing beneath her breath. She lifted her hand to her view, her skin had turned red and raw like a bad burnt and that hot, scorching pain was awfully familiar.

"The red mist." Neveah realized, recalling how a little contact with the sorcerer’s red mist had caused just this kind of excruciating pain.

Despite the pain, Neveah felt assured in the confirmation that all she knew had not been a dream at all.

"The false reality... the nightmare is where I currently stand. I have to find a way back..." Neveah muttered in urgency.

She braced herself to make contact with the ripple in the air again, get a better understanding of its significance and why it was in precisely this spot where the tree should have been.

"What are you doing, Omega?" Alessio asked in a dark tone as he came into view behind Neveah, seeming to materialize out of nowhere.

"Leaving." Neveah replied simply without glancing back.

"What?! You can’t leave!" Alessio exclaimed in panic.

"I did it... I did it for you..." Alessio continued,

His tone was concerning and despite her diminished senses, Neveah could still pick up on the metallic stench of blood.

A quiet ’thump’ sounded from behind and Neveah froze up, she turned around slowly, her eyes growing wide to find the severed head of Lothaire rolling towards her feet.

"For you...all for you..." Alessio reiterated.
