Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 706: Dreams Or Reality ()
"What... this..." Neveah stuttered as horror gripped tightly around her throat, denying her the ability to form her words properly.
This scene... this particular haunting scene, Neveah still recalled it so vividly. It was so far in the past, so long before she had been taken away from the Eclipse Palace, so how was it that this was happening again?
How had she found herself in these terrible dungeons playing audience to things she had no business witnessing again?
’It is some form of nightmare...it has to be...’ Neveah thought frantically, recalling she had been somewhere very different just a moment ago.
But the days spent in the Eclipse Palace had often greeted Neveah with dreams of a better life...was this the nightmare? Or was this her reality and all along, she had been living a dream?
’But it all felt so real!’ Neveah thought.
Yet this moment also felt terribly real, the stench was pungent, the murky waters of the dungeon, a mix of fluids Neveah was not sure she ever wanted to know, seeped through her dress, chilling her knees and Neveah felt it all too vividly.
Another thing Neveah felt vividly was the chilling terror that was a natural reaction whenever Lothaire was present, it was so vivid Neveah could smell and practically taste her own fear.
Her knees were almost numb, Neveah could tell she had been in this kneeling position for a while already and Lado’s grunts and the sacrilegious act he performed before her eyes were all too horrifying to have been conjured up by her own mind.
A sharp pain spread through her skull as Lothaire gripped a fistful of her hair, pulling her head right back to place when she had unconsciously looked away from the horrible sight of the dead Omega, Lado who had cut open her neck still held her body in place, and thrusted, disgustingly seeking his release with no remorse.
Neveah’s eyes stung, the pressure from the tight pull on her hair was one thing and the terror that had taken hold of her heart, it’s chilling tendrils interlacing through every crevice, was another thing entirely.
Tears sprung to Neveah’s eyes, streaming down her cheeks of their own accord and Neveah did not even bother to prevent them.
"Have you gotten a good enough look?" Lothaire whispered, his face coming to level with Neveah’s so he whispered right in her ears, his breath fanning her cheeks.
"Let.me.go you bastard!!!" Neveah hissed, somehow suppressing the instinctual terror, to finally find her words and find her rage.
"Is that any way to speak to your father?! " Lothaire snarled.
"You are not my father!" Neveah snapped right back,
The words were out before she even realized it and Neveah did not even get the chance to regret it as a sharp force struck her right across the face, sending her flying back through the dungeons where she crashed into a foul-smelling puddle.
Neveah groaned as pain exploded across her back but she gritted her teeth to suppress any other sounds of pain that may have slipped out.
Lothaire clicked his tongue in that condescending manner he always would, right before he blamed everything on Neveah, even his own actions.
And so it was not a surprise when he crouched down before Neveah and took hold of her chin.
"You should put a healing balm on it, Omega. We would not want you bruised up ahead of the ball tomorrow night. And do not say such words again, what have I already said?"
"A woman should have few words and even fewer opinions. But for a woman like you...a pretty smile is better suited than any word at all." Lothaire said, his tone now gentle, almost coaxing.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" Neveah snapped, tugging her head away.
’Silence and a false pretty smile?’ Neveah no longer knew how to be that person.
Neveah had learnt to demand the best of fate, even if it was unwilling to give it. She would not be thrown around by a mere Alpha King.
"You have changed, Omega... I can tell by the look in your eyes..." Lothaire observed, his brows twitching slightly.
"Why? You are still clouded by those dreams you have been having? Dragons?...Such things only exist in the tales of the bard." Lothaire said in a tone of amusement and disdain.
"I..." Neveah stuttered but she had no words.
Lothaire knew about it, he knew about it and he said they were all dreams...
"You should have a talk with Alessio, perhaps his words might stir you back to reality." Lothaire decided.
Neveah’s eyes widened, the horror that already gripped her amplified to more than twice its previous level.
Lothaire sending Neveah to Alessio would always have just one result, Alessio in a bid to please his father would torture Neveah mercilessly and knowing that, Lothaire would call in Alessio whenever he found Neveah particularly disagreeable.
"Unless...you have some nice words that may calm your father’s rage, Omega." Lothaire offered Neveah a way out as he would when he wanted to see her grovel.
Neveah stared straight in his eyes, rage surged fiercely through her veins,
"You.are.not.my.father!!!" Neveah snarled furiously.
These words sealed Neveah’s fate, Lothaire frowned deeply and got up to his feet just when a pair of hauntingly familiar steps descended the stone stairwell leading into the dungeons, the sound echoing off the walls.
Neveah could recognise those footsteps anywhere, even if she lost every other sense of recognition, the terror within her recognised him clearly as it did since she had been a child...
Lothaire was depraved and terrible, this was true and he did believe he was supreme in his cruelty.
But if there was one thing no one else knew that Neveah had long figured out, then it was the fact that whatever Lothaire was, his son was far worse.
"Omega..." Alessio’s voice reached Neveah.
Neveah dreaded the moment her eyes lifted to meet those forest green orbs.
