Chapter 452: A Furious Lord (Ch.453)

Mount Edar, Xenon’s abode. It was the last place Neveah expected to find herself, she had left Mount Edar on that night with no intentions of ever going back.

It was in light of her decision to let Xenon go completely and be with another... although the actions of that night did not go exactly as planned.

How had she ended up here of all the places she could have been in the world?

’When one is in need of comfort, it is natural to seek out the place you found most comfort... for us, I guess this is that place.’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her.

’I wondered where you had disappeared to.’ Neveah thought back to her wolf.

Neveah could not deny the words her wolf had said and so she exhaled heavily.

"We should not have come here... regardless of all that has happened, we cannot go back to the past." Neveah murmured quietly, more to herself than to her wolf.

’No one would know we did come here, I doubt it would ever occur to them to search for us here.’ Neveah’s wolf offered some comfort.

Again, Neveah’s wolf was right. Neveah suspected not even Xenon would expect that Neveah would come here, hence it would take a while before anyone would think to look for her in Mount Edar.

It was the only explanation for why she could have been gone for however long she had and no one had found her yet.

’They must be looking all over, it has been over half a day.’ Neveah’s wolf thought in agreement.

"We have caused enough worry in this time, let us return now." Neveah said with a tired sigh.

Neveah made her way back to the Keep and it took quite a while to safely descend Mount Edar, which again got Neveah wondering how she had gotten so far up in the state she had been.

Neveah finally arrived the Keep to find it in complete pandemonium. There were dragon guards and patrol teams everywhere and Neveah had to wonder what exactly was going on.

The moment Neveah crossed the rickety bridge, a mighty dragon landed right infront of her, the earth trembling from the force of it’s landing.

Neveah yelped as she was almost thrown off her feet but managed to maintain her balance and she glared over at the familiar dragon.

"Eidon, I reckon landing spots are mapped out to prevent innocent people from being tossed away in the process." Neveah pointed out, gesturing to the large canyon not so far away where anyone could tumble in when shaken by a forceful landing.

The dragon shifted in the next moment and sure enough, it was Lord Eidon with whom Neveah had tracked down and wiped out the storm singers back at the Fodder Grooves.

"Lady Neveah! Where in the Creator’s name have you been?! The entire Keep is overturned searching for you!" Eidon exclaimed, jogging over to Neveah, his brows furrowed in concern.

"I...well..." Neveah trailed off, glancing over at Mount Edar and then back at Eidon.

"It is complicated." Neveah decided on the most fitting response.

It dawned on Neveah that she was infact the cause of all the ruckus that was happening all around the Keep.

"As long as you are unharmed. You must return immediately, an emergency rider council was called...rumors have it you were abducted, it was the only explanation for your sudden disappearance." Eidon relayed to Neveah.

"Ah... that serious, I see?" Neveah asked with a guilty chuckle.

"I fear it is more serious than you imagine... the Dune Lord is here!" Eidon announced urgently.

"He is?" Neveah asked in surprise.

"And he is not happy...far from it, he is furious and has challenged Lord Menarx to a duel!" Eidon rushed out.

"Scales! I disappear for a moment and the world is about to be torn apart." Neveah grumbled.

"They are in the audience hall at the moment, hurry, I will escort you back." Eidon pressed.

Neveah nodded and hurried back to the Keep with Eidon beside her.

"Other than that, is there anything else I need to know?" Neveah asked Eidon, ignoring the stares she received as people they passed by took notice of her presence.

"My apologies, My Lady but Lady Diandre and Lady Adrienne are also present at the council. The council was convened due to your disappearance and also...to discuss Lord Menarx’s situation." Eidon reported.

"Just perfect. Even the rider council have decided to get involved." Neveah sighed out.

"Given how Lady Adrienne and My Lady have both disappeared in a single day...it is difficult for the council to stay uninvolved."

"The unified council was also adjourned, I fear Lord Menarx’s ability to properly execute his duties in this time is also in question." Eidon revealed.

"What?! In question, how?!" Neveah demanded.

"I’m afraid you will have to see the state of things for yourself." Eidon relayed guiltily. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Neveah hissed beneath her breath as they stepped into the ascending room, setting it in motion for the third level.

Neveah stood in silence, ignoring the concerned looks Eidon passed her ever so often.

The ascending room had only been moving for a short while when that sharp, searing pain tore through her gut once again.

Neveah doubled over with a pained gasp, breaking into a coughing fit as a mouthful of blood sprayed out of her lips.

"Lady Neveah!" Eidon exclaimed in horror, grabbing hold of Neveah’s shoulders to steady her.

Neveah breathed heavily, glancing over at Eidon only to find his expression grow more horrified.

It was then Neveah lifted a hand to the liquid slipping out of her eyes, she had assumed them to be tears but realized that it was blood.

"Scales! I will take you to the infirmary!" Eidon decided quickly, making to change the destination of the ascending room but Neveah stopped him.

"No...to the audience room. If I do not get there in time, Kaideon will kill Menarx...or die trying." Neveah said with somber certainty.
