Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 453: A Furious Lord ()
The tension in the audience hall was thick enough to be sliced through with a blade, it was likely the blade would even get stuck in the attempt and it was all owed to the arrival of the Dune Lord, Kaideon.
King Jian sat on his throne, a complicated expression on his face as always, he was silent and watched the happenings in his court.
Standing in the center of the hall was the Dune Lord who had unexpectedly arrived and completely overturned the rider council, no one dared say a word since he had stormed in.
His very first words had been to pose a challenge to Lord Menarx and that much was enough to make it clear to everyone present that the Dune Lord was out for blood.
He was accompanied by two Dune dragons, Lords Rodvan and Coran.
Kaideon’s lips were pulled back in a menacing snarl and his fierce gaze was fixed on a quiet Menarx.
The scar running across the side of his face and one white orb affected by the deep injury were even more pronounced with his narrowed gaze and the Dune Lord looked nothing short of terrifying.
"Lord Kaideon, I will not fight you." Lord Menarx broke the silence in a pained tone.
"Then you can just die! I will only ask one more time, Menarx! Where is my daughter?! " Kaideon snarled furiously.
"Lord Kaideon, we have men ransacking every part of the Citadel, we will find the Lady Neveah before the night is over, please calm yourself." Kirgan implored.
"You expect me to believe you are putting every effort to finding my daughter when all of you are gathered here plotting even more evil?!" Kaideon hissed.
"A council?! You have the leisure to hold a council?! None of you should be standing here when my daughter is missing! What madness is this?!" Kaideon demanded.
"Dune Lord! You stand in the presence of Our Liege, watch your words!" Cassian warned darkly.
"All due respects, I will not!" Kaideon made clear.
"Kaideon, please calm down. Let me explain..." Menarx began to say but Kaideon cut him off.
"Explain what?! Explain why the hell this two are still alive and well but my daughter is nowhere to be found?!" Kaideon demanded, pointing over at Lady Diandre and Lady Adrienne.
"Explain why I have to hear of my daughter’s plight from rumors?! Explain why my daughter has endured such disrespect as your Lady?! Explain why the hell I walked in on a council to decide my daughter’s bond?! In her absence?!"
"What exactly can you explain?!" Kaideon snarled.
"Kaideon, restrain yourself. I will not allow a duel under my roof." King Jian finally spoke, his tone firm.
Kaideon hissed beneath his breath, shoving off the Dune Dragons that held him down.
"My Liege, do you forget how you assured me that my daughter would be safe here in Dragon Keep? So what is this? No one can tell me where my girl is... not one of you." Kaideon said, his tone now eerily calm.
"Honored Dune Lord, it is no one’s fault that your daughter got emotional in light of Lord Menarx’s natural instinct to save his bonded. We can all see clearly the difference between a true bond and a false bond..." Lady Diandre began to say, her words converting to a yelp of surprise when she was sent flying across the hall.
Lord Rodvan was infront of her in the blink of an eye just as she crashed into a pillar, lifting her up by her throat, his eyes blazing in rage.
"Fairy... one more word and you will lose your head. Creator knows I do not care for war with your kind...shut your gob!" Kaideon made clear, as Rodvan’s hold tightened to completely cut off Lady Diandre’s airway.
"Lord Kaideon! You cannot let your subordinate lay a hand on the highest Fae royalty!" Lady Keila exclaimed, her words dying on her tongue when Kaideon passed her a deadly look.
"I have... and he will lay more than just a hand." Kaideon replied simply, ignoring the choked gasps from Lady Diandre.
"Lord Rodvan, let my aunt go." Lady Keila demanded in a not so confident tone, stepping forward.
"Lodenworth... your rider must be tired of living." Kaideon said matter of factly.
"Keila, stay out of it." Lodenworth was quick to pull his rider back.
Before anyone could say more, the doors to the audience hall came open and a quiet voice called to Kaideon.
"Father..." Neveah whispered through gritted teeth, her weight supported by Eidon.
"Veah!" Menarx exclaimed.
Kaideon turned immediately and Rodvan tossed aside Lady Diandre.
Kaideon rushed over to Neveah just as she collapsed to the ground and Kaideon went down with her, holding Neveah in his arms.
"Scales, what have they done to you?" Kaideon asked in dismay as his gaze moved over Neveah.
Menarx had also moved but his path was blocked by Rodvan and Coran.
"Lord Menarx, the Lady Neveah is already in such a state, I would advise you do not come any closer." Rodvan was heard warning Menarx.
Neveah did not pay heed to anyone else, her heart ached to see the dismay and pain in her father’s gaze.
The last thing she wanted was for Kaideon to see her in such a state.
"This is all my fault, I should never have left you here..." Kaideon whispered in a pained tone.
"I am fine..." Neveah assured.
"His scale is hurting you so badly, why do you still hold on?" Kaideon asked.
Neveah lowered her head, having no words to explain herself.
"It’s not his fault... please calm down." Neveah solicited.
"You silly child... it’s fine now, I am here." Kaideon assured, breathing a heavy sigh.
Kaideon helped Neveah up to her feet. His arm was placed around her so she leaned on him.
"My Liege, I am willing to apologize for barging into the council. At this point, there is nothing else to be said, I have come this time to take my daughter with me to the White Dunes... and I will not be hindered." Kaideon clearly announced his intention.
