Chapter 451: Already Came (Ch.452)

Omega!!!!’ Alessio’s voice echoed through the haze of darkness.

’You severed our bond! This betrayal... I will never forgive it! You cannot escape me! You can never escape me!’ He shrieked, his tone piercing through Neveah’s skull.

A chilling cold feeling seeped right into Neveah’s bones, leaving a trail of numbness in its path and it was to this cold feeling that Neveah’s eyes snapped open, her breaths coming out in short pants.

Terror gripped her heart as the voice and the warning from her nightmare still echoed in her mind.

It took a moment for Neveah’s panic to fade away and it finally dawned on her that it had just been a dream... she was just waking up, even when Neveah could not even remember falling asleep. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"What happened...? Where am I?" Neveah wondered as she sat up slowly, a quiet groan escaping her.

Flakes of snow dropped down from her head and Neveah realized that chilling cold feeling had been snow, for whatever reason, she was lying face down in the snow in an unfamiliar environment.

It was still winter, but the season was slowly reaching its end and it did not snow around the Keep as severely as it had before Neveah left for the Dwarven Outpost.

But where Neveah currently lay was a thick layer of snow and it still snowed intensely like winter had only just come, it was like a totally different world entirely.

Neveah could feel the chilling feeling as the snow stuck in her hair melted and dampened her hair but she could not be bothered by it.

"The last thing I remember is..." Neveah began but trailed off as the memories of what had happened through the day rushed back to the forefront of her mind.

The last thing she remembered was walking aimlessly through the back mountain after witnessing Menarx saving Adrienne’s life by admitting that he had never wished for her death.

"Menarx’s scale... the pain..." Neveah murmured to herself, recalling how the torture of Menarx’s scale had begun afterwards, growing more severe with every second that passed.

Between the pain from Menarx’s scale and the horrible numb feeling, Neveah had lost touch with reality and her surrounding, entering into some form of pain induced haze.

She was not sure where she had walked to or how far from the Keep she had gone to end up here and her memories beyond leaving the cliff were all mixed up and hazy.

Neveah glanced up, from the open sky, it was easy to tell she was on some sort of mountain and what was more, it was already noon.

"But I left the cliff at night... how long has it been since then?" Neveah asked aloud in bafflement.

She felt as though she had just suffered from a drunken stupor, the adverse effect of Menarx’s scale was truly excruciating and it grew worse with each episode.

The first time had left her unconscious and bleeding from unlikely places, this time, even her memories were messed up and she could not even tell where she had ended up.

At this moment, the scale still pulsed but the ache was now dull, though Neveah was not certain for how long it would last.

It seemed like the scale reacted more intensely whenever Menarx’s emotions were deeply shaken by Adrienne... the first time was his intense shock when the bond was discovered and this time was his helplessness and frustration at her suicide attempt.

Neveah got up to her feet but the world spun around her and she crumbled back down to her knees, her eyes going closed as she waited for her world to become steady.

It was in this situation that the strange, haunting voice which had been quite for quite some time sounded in Neveah’s mind.

’Omega...I have let you be for a time. Your life did not get any easier, did it?’ Asked the voice in a taunting tone.

"Be quiet!" Neveah hissed in annoyance, she had thought she was finally rid of whatever this maddening presence in her mind was but it seemed like she had concluded too quickly.

And after the nightmare Neveah just had, the name ’Omega’ quickly hit a nerve.

’Nightmare? Do you really believe it was just a nightmare, Omega?’ The voice asked Neveah, completely ignoring her warning.

"What the hell are you?! What do you want from me?!" Neveah snarled.

’Ah... someone is in a very fragile mood, how tear-jerking.’ The voice sympathised sarcastically.

"Leave me alone... I can’t deal with this right now... just, please..." Neveah’s voice was quiet now, almost inaudible.

She was still struggling to face her own reality, how could she have the leisure to engage in an argument with some presence in her own mind?

The reality that she was likely losing her mind by hearing voices was one Neveah could not cope with at the moment.

’You are not losing your mind, Omega. Quite the contrary...you have gained something instead, something every living being existing in the Stronghold would kill for...yet you are so ignorant.’ The voice said disappointedly.

’Fate is never kind to the weak. The strength I offer you... take it, Omega. Accept my power and your fate will be subject to your own will.’ The voice adviced.

Neveah frowned slightly, recalling the event of the elf and the dwarf, both of which a strange, unbelievable thing had happened, two events she would much rather pretend had never happened.

"I want nothing to do with you, whatever you are." Neveah made clear.

’You will have to accept me one day or the next, Neveah. Our fates are already entwined... and darkness will come for you.’ The voice promised.

"I think the darkness already came." Neveah grumbled beneath her breath.

Ignoring the existence of the voice, she got up to her feet again and took another glance around her surrounding.

This second time, Neveah’s senses were no longer so clouded and it only took her a moment to realise where she was.

"The highest range of Mount Edar! How did I get here?!" Neveah exclaimed in astonishment.
