Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 403: Considerations ()
Neveah sucked in a deep breath as she leaned against the wall of the ascending room, just as the doors went closed.
Neveah had set the ascending room in motion for the ground level, everything about dragon keep felt suffocating and she was in desperate need of some air and a quiet place to think.
As the ascending room moved steadily, Neveah recalled the parchment in her hand and she lifted it to her view to finally get a good look,
Neveah’s heart took an unsteady beat as she stared at it apprehensively, whether the letter was real or fake, Neveah could already tell.
Though the parchment had certainly gone through so many hands and barely retained any of it’s original scent, Neveah could still pick up the familiar scent of this paper and the sight of the paper itself.
Neveah could recognize it easily because this was the paper she used in her quarters back at the Eclipse Domain and it still retained the lavender scent of the incense in her room.
’He sent us a letter... I do not think you should open it, Veah.’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
"We have to know." Neveah replied quietly.
Neveah slowly untied the parchment and rolled it open, reading through the contents.
’To My Beloved Omega,
Would you fare well? I dearly wish that you do not...
I wish that your days away from me are as horrible as my days without you...
I wish that your heart is tortured and shattered just as you have left mine...
I wish the madness consumes your mind and insanity clouds your thoughts just as it has to me...
I wish that you have known no happiness and shown no smile for I have known none of these...
I wish that there would be no home for you but that you shall find in my arms...
I wish that you be mine and I be yours as it was meant to be...or we both face a gruesome end...
Is it silly of me to write to you in this manner? You must think me insane... and I would say that I am.
I have lost my mind and I would lose more for you...
I would carve a path of blood that leads right to you my beloved... this is how far I plan to go. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
May I tell you what is coming?...
It is I... I am coming...
A cold chill of terror ran down Neveah’s spine as her eyes were glued on the blood stained parchment.
Alessio did not have to say these words in person for Neveah to hear them in his voice and hear the solemn promise in his tone.
If there was one thing Neveah knew about Alessio, so long as he had set his mind to it, he would make certain to have his way, regardless of the cost.
Neveah’s hand dropped to her side as it dawned on her that it did not matter how far she ran, she would never truly escape from this.
Neveah was already so drained, even at the realization that Alessio was still after her, she did not even have the energy to feel a certain way about it, instead she just felt a chilling numbness.
A mirthless chuckle escaped Neveah.
"It is fine... I just might go to you first." Neveah murmured, her eyes going closed.
One way or the other, Neveah knew she was bound to cross paths with Alessio once again, if she hoped to know of what had truly happened to her mother, she would have to return to the Eclipse Domain.
And while there were people here who had a place in Neveah’s heart, the dragon king had once again made a fact clear to Neveah today that she had long already known, though she had chosen to ignore it.
Dragon Keep was a place that perhaps would never truly feel like home...
________________
The biting chill of the wind against Neveah’s face was a welcome feeling.
The long awaited first snow had come, back when Neveah was at the academy, but this was the first time Neveah saw what the immediate environment of the keep itself looked like covered in snow.
Even at this moment, it snowed lightly, the soft fluffy snow tangled up in Neveah’s hair melted and dampened her hair, she was not at all dressed to be out in such a cold weather but Neveah did not mind it.
Neveah sensed a familiar presence behind her, she did not need to turn around to know who it was.
"How did you know I would be here?" Neveah asked.
"This is where you had your last big fight with His Grace, other than the Fodder Grooves of course. I guessed you would be here." Kaideon replied as he walked over to sit beside Neveah.
Neveah glanced around to confirm she truly sat by the cliff where she had jumped off some months back, Neveah had not even realized she had come out this far.
"What is this?... Have I become so predictable already?" Neveah murmured.
"I am just good at reading people." Kaideon said with a casual shrug.
"Did you think I would jump off again?" Neveah asked quietly.
"I would like to believe you have enough to live for...at least now." Kaideon said, glancing over at Neveah.
"I cannot argue with that." Neveah agreed with a quiet chuckle.
They fell into a comfortable silence, each lost in their own thoughts, at least Neveah was lost in hers.
"Your king is a jerk, you know?" Neveah broke the silence after a short moment.
"I cannot argue with that." Kaideon used Neveah’s words.
Neveah’s lips twitched in amusement, she leaned back, supporting her weight with her hands.
"What happened...with the trial?" Neveah asked.
"Lodenworth and Keila showed up." Kaideon relayed.
"Of course they did." Neveah murmured with a scoff.
"The girl is a fae royal and Lodenworth and Keila both hold many merits, as much as I would have her dead for hurting you, the council will have considerations." Kaideon admitted.
