Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 144: A Tale To Hear ()
Neveah’s words stunned the dragons for a moment, but Neveah was quick to change the topic.
"Of course, Your Eminence will need to take other measures to ensure the egg does not hatch till the foetus is born. This herb will help with help soothe the foetus." Neveah assured.
"Are you certain?" Lord Everon asked and Neveah nodded in response.
"Without a doubt, the foetus will be stabilized long enough for the egg to be birthed." Neveah replied with certainty.
The Ubrith flower was a known name to the dragons, though in the Eclipse domain, it was known by a different name entirely. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Neveah would also never have known of it had it not been for the Alpha Queen and her Governess and Neveah had not expected her knowledge of poisonous herbs would come in handy.
However, Neveah was relieved to know the flower she referred to did grow in the Asvarian stronghold, otherwise, it would have been much too troublesome.
"The Ubrith flower does not bloom in Dragon Keep or it’s surrounding mountains. But it does bloom in the human settlement a day’s ride away." Lord Everon relayed to them.
"A day’s ride? Will everything be fine till then?" Lord Imagor asked worriedly.
"Flight would be much sooner but Neveah will have to go in person. The Ubrith flower is a wild flower and not many can recognize it." Lord Everon replied.
"Me?" Neveah asked uncertainly and Lord Everon nodded.
"Harvesting the root of the Ubrith flower will be a sensitive endeavor, anyone else would damage it and only you are aware of the right state to maintain it’s potency." Lord Everon said in a serious tone.
"Then Xenon can take her...they would return in a few hours." Lord Imagor reasoned.
"It is the human settlement Imagor, you know exactly what pandemonium would ensue at the mere sight of Xenon." Lord Everon reminded.
Xenon pursed his lips but did not argue with Lord Everon’s words.
"Then it must be horse riding?" Lord Imagor asked in a worried tone.
"A day is not too late, Imagor. I will make certain of that. Kalia will be prepared for child birth." Lord Everon assured.
"Can you do it? Fetch the Ubrith flower and return in time?" King Jian who had been quiet all the while posed the question to Neveah.
"Do I have a choice?" Neveah responded with a question of her own.
No response was given to Neveah’s question and Neveah did not expect a response either.
"I will accompany you. You do not know the way and it is not safe to be out by yourself." Menarx spoke up before anyone could say anything else.
Neveah glanced over at Xenon who nodded his consent.
Neveah then moved her gaze to the unconscious Lady Kaliana and her resolved was firmed.
"Very well. " Neveah agreed.
"You should stay." Neveah said to Xenon as she turned and headed out of Lord Imagor’s quarters.
"Veah! Where are you going to?" Menarx called after Neveah as she walked down the halls.
"To get changed. I will meet you out in the stables in a short time." Neveah replied without glancing back.
It did not take long for Neveah to arrive the ascending room which then took her straight down to the fourth level.
Neveah did not encounter anyone on the way and she was glad for it, the sun would set soon and Neveah knew they needed to leave the Keep without delay if they hoped to return in time.
The moment Neveah stepped into her room, she breathed a quiet sigh as she leaned against the door of her room.
The past few days had been tasking on Neveah and even now, her life still could not be guaranteed yet as always, Neveah had to hold it together and keep a calm demeanor.
Sucking in a shaky breath, Neveah fetched her riding dress she had gotten back at the Asvarian Beacon and headed into her washroom.
______________
A short time later, Neveah stood in the stables of the royal keep dressed in her black riding dress, with her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail.
"To be sure, you do know how to ride a horse, don’t you?" Menarx asked as he emerged from the stables.
Two stable hands followed behind him, each guiding a different horse. Both horses were lean and muscular, built particularly for speed.
They had been saddled while Neveah washed up and changed and it was only now Menarx recalled there was a possibility Neveah would not be familiar with horse riding.
"Why? A werewolf has no reason to be familiar with horse riding but a dragon does?" Neveah asked with a raised brow.
"It is only a question Veah, you need not get defensive. A lot is at stake for you... and for us all. I just want to make sure you have no discomfort." Menarx replied with a sigh.
Neveah strode past him and took the reigns of one of the horses, running a hand down it’s mane.
"I will have no discomfort when we return with the herb and I no longer have to be deemed an evildoer." Neveah murmured as placed her foot on the stirrup and mounted the horse.
Menarx also mounted his horse and stirred it into a slow gallop, riding out of the keep with Neveah not far behind.
This was to be Neveah’s first time beyond Dragon Keep since she arrived the Asvarian stronghold
Neveah had hoped such a day would be the day of her freedom, but instead she was leaving Dragon Keep not for her own cause but for the sake of another.
Truly life brought with it many twists and hardly any of them was ever as one hoped.

’Sing me a tune of a thousand nights...
Tell me a tale as old as a thousand years...
A tale of a race as strong as a thousand men...
A tale long lost in these thousand years...’
The winged man hummed this tone to himself as he sat at the edge of a cliff, watching the sunset while drinking from a goblet of wine.
His horns caught the last rays of the sunset and appeared even more terrifying to sight, a huge contrast to his dazzling features.
His fiery red hair was braided back and away from his face and his wings were curled neatly to his back.
There was a hooded look in his eyes as he gazed ahead, one would assume the wine had already intoxicated him as he hummed his tune slowly.
There was a serene aura around him, as though he had no care for the world or for life or death but was just one who sat and watched the passing of time.
"My Lord." A feminine voice interrupted the tune of the winged man and he paused, his brows furrowing into a slight frown.
The winged man did not need to turn around to know who was speaking, there was only one person who dared speak in his presence and it was the woman in the black dress.
"Celeste...will you not allow me this moment of peace?" The winged man asked,
His tone was perfectly clear, there was not the slightest slur in his tone which proved he was hardly affected by the wine he had been drinking and was still completely sober.
"My Lord, there are strange happenings in the keep. I hear there is trouble to one of the King’s guard. The dragon lord of Argentine scale." The woman called Celeste reported.
The interest of the winged man was finally attracted by Celeste’s words and he placed aside his goblet.
"Imagor... what could possibly trouble one such as he?" The winged man asked with a raised brow.
And then, his features changed as though he recalled something.
"It must be about his rider." The winged man said thoughtfully.
"Indeed. It seems Lord Imagor’s rider is in dire straits. Our reports do not tell what has happened to her exactly but the dragon lord of ruby scales is said to have departed the keep in a rush."
"He is accompanied by the werewolf girl. The one who got in the way of our plans the last time and took the poison in place of the Dragon King. They ride for the human settlement." Celeste reported.
"Menarx and the strange girl too?... To the human town? Interesting..." The winged man murmured to himself, tilting his head to the side thoughtfully.
"We have laid low since the incident of the poison, My Lord."
"But now that such an opportunity presents itself, even if we cannot take his head, we should make our move and pierce the Dragon King’s heart." Celeste said in a malicious tone.
"The death of a King’s guard...a pain that rips the heart of the Dragon King. This is a tale I would want to hear of..." The winged man murmured to himself in intrigue.
"Well then...send word to the black network." The winged man approved, picking up his goblet again and taking a sip of the contents.
"He of ruby scales...shall see his last flight and from thence...fly no more..." The winged man hummed himself a new tune.
