"I don’t know either, Uncle Land didn’t say, did he? That’s why I asked you, I thought he had told you something." Irene Morton feigned ignorance, thinking that if Asher Land knew Nathan Land intended to announce their engagement, he’d probably go talk to Nathan Land again.
