Noble Pampering: Demon CEO's Relentless Entanglement-Chapter 515 - 512: What He Wants Is His Submission (Part 6)
Then let it be.
Sophie Smith steeled herself and walked inside.
She pushed open the door and stepped onto the soft carpet, following a wide corridor further in.
The wall sconces emitted a warm yellow light; she clung to the walls, moving heavily step by step, feeling like she would never reach the study at the end of the corridor.
Finally, she stopped in front of the study door.
The door was ajar, and there seemed to be voices inside.
She instinctively turned to leave but accidentally bumped into the maid carrying tea and water. Without having time to see clearly, she collided with her. The tea set fell onto the soft carpet; although it didn’t make a loud noise, the maid’s exclamation caught the attention of those in the study.
Nathan Land came out and saw Sophie bent over, hurriedly helping the maid clean up the mess on the floor. He frowned uncomfortably.
"What are you doing here?"
An eerie voice rang out, causing Sophie to drop what she was holding again.
"Old Master Land." She stood up, forcing herself to remain calm inside.
"I asked you, what are you doing here?"
"I..." Sophie raised her eyes, meeting his truly intimidating gaze, and finally spoke softly, "I have something I wish to discuss with you."
Nathan Land’s eyes lingered on her for a moment. He didn’t say much and just propped himself with a cane as he walked into the study.
Sophie didn’t know what he meant by this, but she braced herself and went in anyway. After all, she had come this far and saw the person she wanted to meet.
Upon entering the study, Sophie discovered that Colton Morton was also there.
In front of her was an incomplete game of chess. Sophie knew that bursting in like this surely disrupted their enjoyment.
"Isn’t this the girl Asher likes?" Colton Morton examined her closely and said.
Nathan Land merely responded with a faint acknowledgment.
"Old Master Land, Mr. Morton, I apologize for disturbing you."
"If you have something to say, get on with it. Don’t beat around the bush."
Nathan Land continued to play chess with Colton Morton, his eyes fixed on the board, seemingly uninterested in whatever was being discussed, though it was rare for him to allow her to speak.
"Old Master Land, I want to ask, what will it take for you to let Asher Land and Alexander go?"
Although she knew asking like this showed no tact or wisdom, just as Nathan Land said, she should not beat around the bush, for this was the issue she was most concerned about now.
"Let go?" Nathan Land let out a cold laugh, dropping a black piece on the board nonchalantly, "I have no plans to do that for now."
Sophie was at a loss, feeling a bit lost, unsure of how to continue the conversation.
"Actually, Brother Land, I don’t think there’s any need for you to trouble Asher like this." Colton Morton suddenly spoke, and upon hearing these words, a faint trace of hope ignited in Sophie’s eyes.
"If I don’t teach him a lesson, he might think he can spread his wings and escape my control."
"But haven’t you already given him a taste, Brother Land?"
Colton Morton felt uneasy recalling how Nathan Land had heartlessly shot Asher Land’s left arm. After all, Asher Land was to be his Morton family’s son-in-law in the future. Such a fine young man being crippled in one arm...
"Brother Land, I have a proposal. I wonder if it’s feasible?"
"Feel free to say it."
Colton Morton directed his gaze at Sophie, stood up, and walked toward her.
"But I’m not sure if this lady is willing to cooperate?"
